Disclaimer: I own nothing. Chapter 2. Breakdown Selene led Michael through the cold,damp sewers. She was sort of numb. She was still clutching Sonjas necklace in her hand. Things just werenÕt reaching her brain. Michael was worried about her. She hadnÕt said a thing since sheÕd tried to plead with Viktor not to kill him. He knew she must be suffering a great deal;but didnÕt want to make her mad just now by talking. He was well aware that he was much stronger than she was;but he didnÕt want her running off on him. He could sense somehow that sunrise was only a few hours away and he might be able to stand it, but she wouldnÕt. Selene stopped abruptly as the full weight of what had happened descended upon her. It was like a thousand pounds had settled on her shoulders. She had killed Viktor, defended a lycen,and killed other death dealers. Now both covens would be after them,and god knew what the lycens were up to. And there was still Kraven to deal with,unless by some storke of luck someone had killed him;but she doubted it. Kravens sense of self preservation was almost as well defined as his ambitions of power. Michael almost ran into Selene when she suddenly stopped. He waited for her to warn him to move or get down or run;but she didnÕt. She was silent and he finally whispered, ÒSelene?Ó She didnÕt answer and he stood there waiting for her to move again. When she did move it was because she was collapsing onto the floor. Selene heard Michael say her name from some far away place. She couldnÕt muster the energy to tell him to be quiet. Her legs were beginning to shake a little. They were turning to gelatin. She leaned against the wall and slid down slowly. ÒSelene!?Ó Asked Michael. He quickly went around in front of her and saw the tears running down her blank face. Not knowing what else to do he sat down and pulled her into his embrace. Selene knew what was happening;but she couldnÕt move. She was relieved when Michael hugged her. He was warm and real. She found she really could move,and hid her face in his neck. Great shuddering silent sobs wracked SelenesÕ tiny frame as Michael held her. All he could do was stroke her hair and tell her it was okay. He knew it wasnÕt; but there was nothing else he could think to say. He rocked her until her sobs eased and she was weeping quietly. Soon even this ceased, and her breath evened out. She was completetly relaxed and Michael realized she was asleep. He needed to get them some place warm and safe. It was anyones guess where. He knew the lycens and the vampires both knew where he lived. TheyÕd most likely be able to track them wherever they went as well. ÒWhat am I going to do?Ó He asked the air. Well, hereÕs chapter 2.
