Chapter 2

Within mere seconds, the raging nature of the werewolf had taken complete control over Gabriel again. He was roaring viciously and advancing his nemesis slowly.

Dracula huffed, visibly annoyed.
So much to say and to manipulate, but so little time with the moon reappearing on the starry sky.

There werewolf was now using his sharp and long claws to snap at the Count, but before he could tore any flesh from the vampire, Vladislaus quickly changed into his beastly form.

He had a plan in mind:
Luring the wolf away from the silver moonlight would cause the beast to retreat. Vlad would be able to speak to Gabriel from face to face.

Using his broad wings to fly into the direction of the old dark catacombs this castle was built on, Dracula turned his head.

The wolf was close in.

The vampire grinned a full-fanged smile.
Soon, he would have Gabriel there, where he wanted him to be.

The two beasts entered the dark clammy cellar of Castle Dracula.
With a mere hint of a thought, the Count willed the heavy doors to shut and to eliminate all light.
The sudden silence weighed heavily in the room.
Vlad knew that Gabriel´s inner beast had left for now, and so it was secure for himself to change back into his human appearance as well.

While using his night-vision to watch Gabriel´s head turn in a hectic panic, the vampire lit a candle.
Although he had no need for a light-source, Vlad always enjoyed the atmosphere a candle´s light created.

Besides, he didn´t want to leave his ‘guest’ blindly standing in the dark.
Werewolves didn´t possess an extraordinary sight. This privilege was reserved for vampires.

“I always was quite fond of this cellar.” Dracula started a light small-talk.

“We maintain the best and oldest red wine of Hungary.”

Lightly patting a bottle and blowing away the dust it was covered with, the vampire slowly turned towards his old acquaintance.

“Why did you bring me here?” Gabriel demanded to know.

His whole body language appeared tense and defensive.

“You cannot figure it out by yourself then?” Vlad shot his opponent a pitying look.

“I must tell you that I am disappointed. All I wanted was a nice chat with you…”

Now it dawned on Gabriel and Dracula was amused by the plain expression in the vampire hunter´s sweaty face.
There was another emotion, slowly showing on the almost naked man´s cheeks:
Embarrassment.
The cool basement´s air had caused him to look down at himself and realize that – except the shredded remnants of his leather trousers – he had no clothes on.

“Damn…” Gabriel muttered to himself, but he knew that this went not unheard by the vampire, who calmly walked through the dark room, always keeping a certain elegance in his step.

“Do not worry, Gabriel.” Dracula smirked.

“It is not like I haven´t ever seen you in such a state…”

Gabriel´s face became a petrified mask.

“You´re lying.” He said hastily.

Dracula lazily came closer, wearing a dark glimmer in his eyes.

“…Not at all. I may not be the most fair-minded person. But I would never lie to you when I say, that we share more than just our age,” He assured the man, whose confusion seemed to grow which each word that emerged from the vampire master´s lips.

The Count constantly closed the distance between him and the vulnerable, naked body of his opponent. He knew that he was free to play with Gabriel.

The wolf in him was still fighting to get free and to take over the body of Van Helsing. The wild venom in it´s blood had also partially taken control over Gabriel´s thinking.
Dracula could read the constant struggle between beast and man in Gabriel´s gestures and eyes.
The muscled man shook his head on and off, as if to remind himself who and where he was at the moment.

Time for Dracula to offer some serious support and information.

“Gabriel…,” the vampire used the warmest tone his voice could produce.

“I know what is raging in you right now. Is it not distressing to suffer from severe amnesia *and* from a beast that wants to get freed? I can cure you from both diseases, my friend,” the vampire made another step forward and offered his hand to Van Helsing.

“All I need from you is your trust…,” he added.

Van Helsing looked at Dracula´s outstretched arm, wearing a puzzled expression on his face.
Not knowing how to react on the vampire´s obliging gesture, Gabriel stayed where he was.

Vlad smiled with pity, but also with inner satisfaction. The once so self-confident hunter had obviously become the perfect victim for Vlad´s manipulation games. He would twist his old friend around his little finger in no time…

To be continued.
