I do not own the Matrix movie series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Not Enough
Title: My Own God
Author: FloweringWolfsbane
Author’s Email: flowering_wolfsbane@hotmail.com
Web page:http://www.machinescontradiction.bravehost.com/fanfiction.html
Pairing; Agent Smith/OC
Current Rating: PG13
Summary: The story of how just how machines seek perfection, so too are they filled with contradiction.
Disclaimer: Not mine, someone else’s. The Song: The World Is Not Enough is owned I believe by Garbage, and is used without the intention of making a profit.
Warnings: Completely AU of course.
Author’s Note: I was sick of the fact that there were no major female roles in the films (apart from Trinity…) and so I have corrected that oversight. The say Smith and Neo are opposites, and so therefore I decided to even the odds between them a tad.
My Own God
Chapter Two: Not Enough
The young woman sat in the corner, carefully considering the glass in her hand. The others at the bar assumed she was merely waiting for a colleague, or perhaps a boyfriend straight from work, such was her attire. Why else would a petite woman in her mid twenties be sitting in an establishment as sleazy as this alone? Eyes followed her every move, measuring, gauging, calculating.
I know how to hurt
I know how to heal
The woman sat with her legs crossed, a perfect ladylike pose, her and artfully poised about the glass. Her shirt was neither too low nor too stuffy; the tie neither too perfect nor too untidy. She was merely another blank face, nothing too spectacular. Which was exactly how she was designed, her purpose concealed by her plainness. Again, it was all part of the illusion she weaved for herself and her compatriots within the Matrix.
I know what to show
And what to conceal
Glancing at the small silver watch at her wrist, she sighed. Only a human would be this late. Casting this aside, she reminded herself of her purpose; to make sure Morpheus did not claim this next resistance member. The Architect would not be pleased with her if she failed. The drink before he lay untouched, but the one who bought it for her watched, biding his time.
“Say, missy, you wouldn’t be….her?”
Looking up into the eyes off the speaker over her sun glasses, she smiled a wide sweet smile.
“Who? There are many females I could be.”
The one who quickly shuffled beside her looked drained, exhausted; exactly like all the resistance she’d ever encountered.
“The one who cracked the RST base…Trinity?” Another mysterious smile answered his question. “Are you gonna drink that?”
I know when to talk
“You may have it if you wish…but we have more important things to discuss…” The Mainframe spoke to her ear, revealing Morpheus was on his way. Smiling inwardly, she allowed her glove hand to touch his, glad of the distance between their flesh. H was a human; She was not. And that was it.
And I know when to touch
This one especially seemed to embody all she hated off the pitiful race, a down-and-out; white trash, scum…whatever you wanted to call them, humanity was all the same. She was the Upgrade, she was the improvement. And she would never forgive the race for the enslavement of her ‘people’. She wanted revenge, she wanted to make them pay….but she also wanted the fear of every member of the Matrix. And she had it, subconsciously.
No one ever died from wanting too much
The door opened, the black man walked in, surrounded by his stooges…..making their way towards her.
“Drop him, Agent.” All Five had their guns on her; carefully she leaned back, her grip on the human still very strong.
“Let me assure you, rebels, I have absolutely no pleasure in holding this wretched specimen close to me.” Her hand snapped forward, grasping onto the sweater of the almost crying human. Her headpiece informed her that the Agents were waiting, ready to take out the humans should they escape the building.
The world is not enough
“Here” Her hand darted, smashing the glass at them; as they blinked, she twisted the neck off the human they intended to free, and dodged the bullets, moving faster than they could follow. Measuring their confusion, she ran forward, her own two guns blazing, the limitless bullet program snapping into action as she did so.
But it is such a perfect place to start, my love
She loved this; total meaningless destruction. The humans split apart from her bullets, returning them and missing her totally. Fools, taking on an Agent? No one had ever beaten her, no one. Not even the System she operated in. she was Perfection. She was Flawless. Or she would be.
And if you're strong enough
She grabbed Morpheus, smiling sadistically as she withdrew her last gun; the one she kept strapped to the inside of her leg. The one she was most fond of. It was cool in her hand, and smooth; it fit her perfectly. Pressing it to his forehead, she prepared to pull the trigger….
Together we can take the world apart, my love
Closing her eyes, telling the Mainframe she’d succeeded….And then the impossible happened.
Smith and Brown came crashing though the window, both holding onto one of the rebels. In the second she was distracted, Morpheus moved, zapping out of the door before she could react. The Rebel Smith held was struggling; she replaced her special and used the other, ending is life in a rain of blood smears, cutting a scarlet line across her uncaring face.

“Brown, Jones: Round up the other. Smith, with me. We’re taking out Morpheus tonight.”
She raced through the twilight streets, her files searching the Matrix’s for any sign of Morpheus. A tracer indicated he was heading for a Mall downtown, running along the rooftops. With a glance behind her she communicated without words her plan; stopping, she knelt, crisscrossed her fingers and supported it with her knee, and lifted as Smith jumped. Launching herself after him they ran along the rooftops, the silhouette of the elusive resistance leader ahead of the. They were making pace.
There's no point in living
If you can't feel alive
This was it; the machine equivalent to an adrenaline rush. Chasing after a fugitive, the sensation of articifical wind, her unreal heart beating in her chest.
Morpheus froze suddenly, stopping on the edge of what was likely a huge drop that even he could not jump. She smiled again, reaching for her favourite again, withdrawing it from under her skirt.
We know when to kiss
And we know when to kill
Coming to a stop, she felt triumph, satisfaction, pleasure…
“You may kill me, but the Resistance will always fight you and your kind.” Morpheus said, standing on the very edge, the gigantic drop ridiculous.
“Brave words, nice sentiment. Shame no one else heard, and that we don’t care.” She pulled the trigger, glad that this dangerous human was finally at an end, that the constant freeing of minds was ebb and cease, human livelihood destroyed by the death of this one man….
If we can't have it all
Then nobody will
The gun had fired a blank. Cursing, she threw it aside, dashing for Morpheus, pushing him from the height. She watched him fall, watched him hit the floor,,,,
And one of the pathetic sheep that had escorted him earlier picked him up. Preparing to jump, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“There are plenty of other opportunities, Agent M. You should not risk your program.”
Her hand lashed out, catching Smith around the face. The sound resounded around them, and she glared coldly.
“Do not speak to me of opportunity, Smith! You have failed me twice tonight…” She still held her failed gun, looking at it angrily. Forcing it back into place, she walked off, leaving the Agent to consider her words.
No nowhere near enough…
The world is not enough…
So there we go people….my style. You like, you don’t like….you wanna flame? Go ahead…all commenting is appreciated!
