Chapter 2
Sarah opened her eyes, or at least tired. Her lids were heavy and she really couldn’t bare to open them. She drew in a long ragged breath and tried to sit up, finding her attempts all but granted. Strong hands seemed to be pulling her down, making her prone to resting even more, and she assumed she needed it since her body gave in completely to the hands.
Slowly she relaxed back into the soft surface she found herself embedded in and instantly feel into slumber when she felt a cool cloth pressed into her forehead.
“She is waking m’lord.”
“Very well, you may leave.”

Pacing around the house Sarah’s dad awaited the police to arrive at the house.
“Dad, you dont know, do you?”
“I dont know what Toby?” he asked rubbing his temples.
“Who he was... you didn’t understand him. Sarah never told you?”
He looked at his son in disbelief. “And, I suppose you know who the hell he is?”
Before Toby had a chance to answer, there was a knock at the door and his father dashed for the entrance.
“Evening sir, may I come in?” the officer asked tipping his hat.
“Yes, please come and sit.”
The officer followed closely behind him as they made they way into the living room. Toby started wondering just when someone was going to ask him what had happened.
“Dad, I”
“Toby not now, go play with your toys or something. Now, officer”
“No dad, I need to talk to you.”
“Son,” the officer stepped in, “Your father and I need to discuss something important. Now why dont you go and watch some cartoons and we will try and get everything worked out for you and your dad, ok?”
Toby shook his head. “I dont need to go watch cartoons... I need to tell my dad what happened.”
The officer looked at Toby for a moment and then nodded. “Well then, what is it.”
Toby took a deep breath and said as fast as little lips could move,”That guy that came here, he’s a king.and when I was little he came and stole me away because my big sister, who is now missing, wished me away but, little did she know that he was in love with her and would do anything for her. SO when he came and got me he made her go through this horrible maze called the Labyrinth and made her do all these bunch of tests, but she made a bunch of friends who helped her along the way and then he drugged her and made her dance with him and almost made her forget about me but then she remembered when a big ugly trash lady came and then when she got to the end he tried to give her her dreams but she turned him down to save me. SO he returned today to take her away from us forever to make her the queen of the Goblin City.”
Toby exhaled the last of his breath he was holding and awaited the response from the two men standing in front of him. He looked up to find the officer almost redder then a beet, holding in a overspill of laughter. His dad looked like he was going to puke.
“Toby, where the hell did you get that load of crap? Do actually expect us to believe you?”
“But dad, its the truth.”
“Sure it is young lad, and the Pope is a Jew. No go run along.”
Toby balled up his fists and yelled at the tops of his lungs,” YOU AREN’T LISTENING! SHE’S NOT COMING BACK! HE WONT LET HER! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU?”
“Toby, thats enough. Go to your room... now.” His dad hissed through his teeth.
Toby reluctantly dropped his arms to his sides and trudged up the stairs to his room.
“I’m sorry officer where were we?”
“Your busy letting Sarah get her life ripped away from her and us.” Toby whispered under his breath as he reached his room.

Sarah shifted her weight carefully, her muscles screaming in pain. Her lips, cracked and dry, screamed in agony as she opened her mouth to draw in a jagged breath. Instantly water flowed into her mouth. She drank hungrily at the fresh tasting liquid, cool and crisp. Through the slits in her eyes she could see a figure, but her eyes taking on a mind of their own, closed as soon as she thought to open them further.
She relaxed into the soft, silk bedding. She clung to silky sheets, beads of sweat all over her glowing body, clinging to her every pore. The brightly colored fabric on the pillows, that her eyes had yet to fall on, held her sweat like sacred sponges. She shifted slightly again and began to slip into the darkness of dreams when...
“M’lord...”
“Yes?”
“The Empress from Shaundale is here. She wishes to have your council, m’lord.”
Sarah’s mind stung with concentration. Was she in Toby’s room while he was playing with Lancelot?
“Tell her I am taking no meetings today.”
“To late,” A dominate female voice clung to air, "I am already here.”
Sarah felt the figure stand, the heat of the being instantly ripped away from her.
“My Humble Genevive, to what do I owe this... pleasure?”
Sarah’s brain shrieked in pain as the woman laughed.
“My king, I come with a devine offer. My daughter, she of courting age, very pretty, and is ready to be wed.”
“No.”
“ But m’lord you have not even heard my question,”
“I said no. If you would kindly read the proclamation I sent out.”
“I have read it Jareth...”
Sarah’s breath stopped. She could have sworn that lady just said Jareth. Forgetting to breath, she coughed and sputtered, blood seeping from her cracked lips as she tried to recover her lost air.
“Jareth who is that?” Genevive asked coyly.
“Never mind her,”
“Her? Jareth, have you chosen a lady?”
“I said never mind her.”
“Let me see her...” the lady demanded ruefully.
“I said,” Sarah heard the lady gasp, "Never mind. Now leave me.”
“But Jareth, I”
“Genevive, before I decide to bog your kingdom, leave me.”
Sarah heard the woman gasp and with a deafening crack assumed she had left. Breathing shallow and ragged, she tired to collect her thoughts.
“Sarah please calm down.”
Jareth’s voice ran through her ears. The crystalline voice of the fae clung to the air as she drew it in, almost seeming to heal her parched throat.
"Jareth?” she whispered, half overjoyed, half scared shitless.
The answer she got was a warm pair of lips on her forehead and water flowing over her dry lips and down her scorched throat.
