Summary: Obi-Wan finds out about Anakin and Padme, Anakin learns the truth

Anakin had been thinking about his afternoon with Padme, remembering how good it had felt to be with her again after five grueling months. She was so eager to please him, so eager to bask in his glory really. He was glad to oblige, it had been a long five months without her touch, or anybody’s touch, for that matter. They had remained locked in her apartment all afternoon, until night had started to fall and he’d remembered that he should get back to his and Obi Wan’s quarters in the Jedi Temple .Surely Obi-Wan would start to wonder where he was. He didn’t want to let it on his and Padme’s secret, their marriage! Oh, he was sure that Obi-Wan knew something was going on, but not the full extent of it. His former Master would never approve of it. You’ll be excused from the Order! he would say.

Anakin arrived at the Temple Gardens with all of these thought swirling in his head. He had set out to find Obi Wan, and his thought had led him here. He knew this is where his Master would come; he always did when something was troubling him. Obi-Wan was sitting quietly with that look on his face. The look that Anakin knew meant he was thinking of Qu -Gon. Qui-Gon, his Master, his friend, his lover. Obi-Wan never spoke of it of course, not with Anakin anyway, but Anakin knew. He had heard the rumors, but even more telling, he saw it in Obi Wan’s eyes. Whenever he spoke of Qui-Gon his strong feelings were undeniable, they were written all over his face.

Anakin had wrestled with the guilt of Qui-Gon’s death for a good number of years. It was Qui-Gon who had thought Anakin should be trained and with his dying breath he had asked Obi-Wan to train him. Qui-Gon’s last words as he lay, dying in his lovers arms were about Anakin, and he knew that it had saddened Obi-Wan. It had saddened Anakin, too. The beginning of their Master/padawan relationship had been quite strained. They both felt lost, and they were both so young. Theirs was a different relationship than most of the other Masters and padawans. Anakin couldn’t help but notice that it seemed more like an obligation to Obi-Wan than anything else.

They went on for awhile like that. Eventually, though, they started to grow together and become closer. They learned things together, went through a lot of missions that made their bond stronger. Then around the age of sixteen or so, Anakin started to have different feelings towards his Master. He started to look at him as more, started to love him differently, think of him differently, want him, need him. It was then that Anakin was able to start letting go of some of the guilt, for he knew that it was not he who had brought out the sadness in Obi Wan’s heart. That sadness was caused by the loss of his Master, the loss of his love.

Anakin, of course, never told his Master of his feelings. It was frowned upon for Masters and padawans to have that sort of a relationship, though it did happen form time to time. Besides, Obi-Wan was now so straight and narrow, so one with the Force that he could never love Anakin like that. The loss of Qui-Gon had made Obi-Wan crawl into himself. He pledged to be the best JedI that he could be, no intimate relationships for him. Anakin never even saw him bring home the occasional lover like some of the other Masters did. He was beginning to think that Obi-Wan had turned to stone, but then this had happened.

“He just had a fit!” Anakin said out loud to nobody. “Because of me!” With that Anakin started laughing like he hadn’t in a long time. “Obi-Wan is jealous of Padme!”
