Chapter One: Farewell
Lies. Most of the passing twenty years had been nothing, but deceit. Deception stained the grounds of Ziost, both from family and outsiders alike. Zoe had enough of the bloodshed bestowed upon any creature that stood in the family's way; sure, they were Darksiders, but not Sith. Again, they had taken another territory under their control, another victory to be even more despised over. Since the battle for the return of her once kidnapped brother, Hideki, Fiera had been entertaining herself with getting acquainted with the child she hadn't since since his birth. Not that she was jealous of Hideki, but Zoe considered she and her mother rather close - now, the elder Marzullo did nothing with her other four children...considering Fiera had sent Talena and Nala away to separate academies. Fieron was ever present in the graces of Talen, trying to win over the approval of his father. Talen. Yes, Talen. That bastard who married her mother and tried to take the place of Serpent. Zoe loathed him, often making it rather known to whomever would listen which included Talen himself.
Deciding she had rather enough of the idiocies entertaining the clan, Zoe had taken it upon herself for a holiday away from them, away from Ziost. Regardless of asking for permission to leave, the young Marzullo left without word or warning. They often didn't noticed her and when they did it had only been because she and Atheneus were causing havoc again, or she was missing classes or training, or even failed to show up in the infirmary considering she had been the understudy for her Aunt Krishna and Aunt Gretchen. None of it mattered anymore; Zoe was exhausted from living up to the expectation of the elders, especially of Itala. They were ridiculous and hardly achievable. She was exception in the medical field and in the Force, but her other skills were sorely lacking. Not that she didn't strain herself trying, but Zoe wasn't exactly fashioned to be a warrior by any means.
Floral aromas filtered through the breeze, the wind swirling through blonde tendrils as Zoe stood before the Jedi Temple. If there had been anything Marzullos loathed just as much as subhumans, it was Jedi. Maybe not as intense as their hatred for Sith , but Jedi were still despised nonetheless. A brow lofted as the blonde's curiosity was piqued as a spiteful thought came into her mind. If there had been only one way....one way to deliver the torment and agony the family caused since the day of her birth it would be to...
Before her thoughts could rationalize, Zoe was standing within the foyer of the temple, younglings sprinted about playing with each other and softly spoken words passing between the Jedi she was amid. A breath hitched sharply within her breastbone as a figure came to greet her; he was tall, odd looking, though a strangely comforting aura radiated from the gungan. Quelling what fear quickly struck within, the young Marzullo bowed her head slightly and offered a quaint smile. With the reputation proceeding her surname, it was quite common to feel as though you were going to be annihilated at any moment.
"Greetings, I am Jedi Master Danster.May I ask, what brings you here, young lady?"
"I've come to learn the ways in the path of the light"
"Then I shall become your mentor. Miss...?"
"Zoe...Marzullo."
"Marzullo, you say? If I may, who are your parents?"
"Fiera Marzullo."
"Interesting."
Fear quaked throughout the Master Jedi as he examined over the young Marzullo; though she was an ideal candidate for training -having already known of the Force-, she was a Darksider nonetheless. Marzullos had been known to annihilate all who stood in their path no matter age, gender, or species. Zoe had been different than they, she knew not of this hatred and greed, she knew only of survival and disappointment. Motioning for the teenager to follow behind, Danster led the Marzullo further into the temple as he silently prepared the challenge that laid ahead...
