“No, Bradley, I don’t think you understand the situation. They TOOK Michael. Literally, took him. Yes, Yes, I know that I am in the middle of nowhere. Damnit.” Selene looked down at her now dead cell phone and frowned. After they took off from the mansion, the car dumped her somewhere in the middle of a strange forest. Without Michael. Which means they kidnapped her mate, and left her to die in the middle of a forest where no one could find her. Thank god that she didn’t burn in the sunlight. She could forage off forest creatures for a while. If Michael was with her, she probably could have figured out where she was. He ran for miles around the new facility practically every day. She could be days from the facility.
If she had spent more time actually DOING something she wouldn’t be lost.
She could still feel the drug they gave her, flowing through her veins making her weaker. It must have been pretty strong to knock her out, and especially Michael with his complicated blood system. Her newfound dependence on Michael was starting to affect her. Ever since he almost died, she never went a few hours without at least seeing him on a camera monitor, or *knowing* he was there. Now she felt nothing, like he was disconnected from her. It was scary, when she thought he was dead, she knew he was dead, and now she had no idea where he was. Not knowing was almost worse than death.
Whoever took him wouldn’t be dumb enough to kill him. She might spare a few lives if he was alive. Selene did not kill innocents anymore, everyone knew that. But she was very tempted. Throwing off her shoes, she broke the heels off and placed them on her thigh, where her gun was supposed to be. At least she had some sort of weapon. Heading towards the approaching sun, she hoped a town was nearby. Walking with no shoes was going to suck.

“Oh, darling, are you all right?”
Michael looked up towards the voice and groaned. He felt like a semi truck knocked him over. Running a hand through his hair, he opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar woman sitting next to him.
“What? Who are you?” Michael asked looking at the unfamiliar room. There were furs hanging from the walls and the room was a deep shade of purple. It looked tacky. The bed he was on was large, and the woman obviously looked at home. The place smelled like her, looked like hers-Something told him this would never be his home.
“I’m your engaged, silly. You’re the High Ruler of the Lycans.”
**
‘This will not work’ Alexandra thought. Her brothers were foolish. She could not pretend that she was this man’s wife, or rather ‘fiancée’. Oh, he was attractive, but they should not deceive their ruler like this. Lies only lead to more lies. And once Selene found them, there would be hell to pay. Or he would discover the truth and kill them all by himself.
Shrugging on her fur robe, she handed him the robe they had for him and tried to smile. “My brothers said that you ran into Theirians and they were ready for a fight. Michael, you hit your head pretty hard, the healer suggested memory loss.”
“What are Theirians? Who are your brothers? Where are we? I have so many questions.” The blonde asked warily, running a hand through his hair again. He must do that a lot. “This place looks like a huge cabin. Like a- castle made out of wood.”
“The Lodge has been in my family for generations. My father’s father was second in line to a leader named Gunter. Gunter gave him this cabin to retire to, and so his brethren could help remove the threat of Theirians, they are an anomaly of nature- they are part human, part cat, like the Lycans, are part wolf.”
She pulled back her long red hair, and took his hand. “Come on, I’ll give you the tour.”
Opening the door to the royal chambers, they entered the large sitting room that lead to their private bath, and his room. She explained to him that it was their tradition to have the engaged couple live together for a year before they actually took their vows. Alexandra couldn’t help but notice the relief in his eyes.
“The main hall leads towards the dinning room, the main staircase, and the second in command’s quarters. Or my brother’s rooms. Off that, is a few fake rooms, a few empty rooms and the front door. This house was built with both comfort and practicality in mind.”
“Why am I this great leader?”
“You are a direct descendant of the father of us all. You are a true-blood werewolf, as most of us are so diluted with our original werewolf blood, we are hardly authentic. You are special, Michael.”
“I think I would like to sleep some. Maybe that will jog my memory. “

Michael stretched his arms over his head and look around the busy nightclub. He had finals tomorrow and then he could really be a doctor. Help people. Downing his shot of tequila, he felt something at the back of his neck and glanced toward the door in time to see a woman plop down into the bar stool next to him. Her dark brown hair was shoulder length, her eyes were blue, and she was wearing leather pants and a leather jacket he would normally find trashy. Not on her though. She was meeting him here, he remembered.
“Michael.” She smiled at him and he knew he was gone. He held his hand out to her and she gave him a quick look of amusement before following him towards the crowded dance floor.
“I knew I’d find you here,” She said softly, as their bodies rocked together. He nodded and moved their bodies closer together. He liked dancing, he remembered. He liked dancing with her, he corrected himself. It was very easy, simply moving together as one. He couldn’t even tell who was leading- they just existed together.
“I missed you. Or I almost did.” Michael whispered in her ear. She looked up at him, and her eyes turned brown. Or at least he thought they did-

Gasping awake, Selene shook off the dream and started panicking. This was bad. Rocking back and forth for a few seconds, she tried to calm her nerves. She had never actually been in someone’s dream. Not like that. She could still feel his warmth on her skin- smell him. And gods, it HURT, being forced out of the dream like that. Michael obviously didn’t recognize her; it was safer for his captor’s if he couldn’t remember how to contact her. He must be somewhere away from humans, and other Lycans. Any sane lycan would offer up his location to try and get in her favor.
They knew she was looking, and they were blocking up his fucking dreams from her. They were probably WATCHING his dreams. But at least she knew he was alive. That was a good start.
And she had found a hotel, with a very nice shower. Being in Vienna was a little disconcerting, but better than further away from home.
The others would come to get her soon.

“Where is he, little sister? Have you convinced him to our ways?” Hunter asked his sister. He figured that he would be more comfortable with his attractive sister than one of the alpha males. Or former alpha males. He was surveying the main hall, as he normally did, while his brother Lance walked the outside grounds. The main hall was a giant forum for all Lycans to inhabit and feel at ease. Hunter took a personal responsibility in maintaining the safety of his family’s lodge. No intruder could get past a relative to the Great Gunter, it would be too insulting.
“He’s been with the Healer all day. It turns out he was a doctor when he was human.” Alexandra replied pointing to where Michael was assisting the old shaman in the little Stein boy’s broken leg.
“You can’t just sprinkle that stuff on his leg. You need to set it back, so it will grow back properly.” Michael insisted taking the leg and snapping it back into place. The shaman still sprinkled something on his leg from his pouch and blessed the boy’s leg. “You be a little more careful when climbing the trees, okay?”
“Yes, Master.” The boy smiled running off to the forest. The shaman cursed him in Hungarian and Michael laughed before informing him that he knew Hungarian and that he wouldn’t like anyone telling him how to practice Medicine either.
The shaman gave him a toothless grin before heading back to his quarters. Michael walked up the stairs towards them, and Hunter gave him a slight nod of the head. Glancing down at Michael’s hand, he could see the half formed claws growing from his hand.
“Master. I am Hunter, if you do not remember. Second in Command, and brother of Alexandra.” Michael gave him a nod and retracted his claws. Alexandra kissed him on the forehead and he seemed to shy away from the kiss. Interesting. Alexandra’s line of suitors was a long one, and if he wasn’t even interested in her, then there was going to be a problem.
“I liked meeting all the people, Alexandra- it was a good suggestion. I can’t help but feel I don’t belong here. I feel like I’m waiting for something that isn’t here. The blood made me feel better- I’m just going to go to bed.”
“You sleep quite often, your majesty.” Hunter remarked. Michael looked at him oddly for a moment before turning and disappearing up the stairs. Those dreams were getting harder and harder to control. Selene’s powers were greater than he imagined.
**
“I thought I would come visit you today.” Michael said causing Selene to jump. He was definitely in her dream. He sat down in the grass next to her and looked up at her childhood home. She would never admit it to him, but she missed her family still after all this time. She didn’t need anyone’s pity- especially his. Viktor murdered her parents for locking up a killer. Her whole family. They did the world a favor, and they had to die for it. The need for revenge had calmed with Viktor’s death.
“This is where I grew up,” she found her voice saying. He should know that he’d been to the ruins. Michael looked up at the castle, in all of it’s glory and smiled. The peasants were milling around, and children were laughing. It was very peaceful. It was her home.
“It’s a very nice castle, darling.” He replied leaning back in the grass. She leaned back with him and his arms went around her. “We’re dreaming this aren’t we? Because there’s no way I can fall asleep and dream of you twice, let alone this massive castle.” he said suddenly.
“Yes.” Selene smiled. He sighed in relief and ran a hand through his hair.
“I knew- I knew that if you weren’t real- I’d go crazy. We have a connection you and I. And, if you weren’t real I’d go crazy, because I have a feeling that I couldn’t want anyone as much as I want you. My blood calls to yours.”
“The blood remembers-” Selene looked around for the strange voice but was suddenly back in the jeep with Bradley bickering with Samantha. Glancing ahead, she saw the familiar sight of the mansion. Sighing in relief, she couldn’t fight the deep chill that ran down her spine. If she didn’t find Michael soon she worried what would happen to them. He had been feeding out of her for weeks. The cravings would start soon and she didn’t find him it could be fatal for them both.
