Michael

“How will we ever find Markus and William?” That night so long ago... Selene had arrived too late and it had all been for nothing. William had escaped with Markus leaving a trail of werewolves in their wake that Selene had been forced to destroy only to loose the brothers in the end. Luckily her hybrid lover had returned to life to help her finish off William’s offspring. Markus had apparently returned to his father with William only to find out about the gift the dying vampire had given Selene.

“They will come to us, Michael.” Selene replied to his question without looking at him. She loved him but she had not yet forgiven him for that night in the woods. He knew this, but no longer begged for her forgiveness. Now her love did everything she asked without comment or complaint. She found it utterly annoying.

The two of them lived in a flat now far from that dingy city which contained a mansion full of leaderless vampires. She wondered on the chaos there and what Master from far away lands would come and lead them once more. She knew that Markus was a bigger problem for the vampires than her now and turned her thoughts away from them. Markus and William were hers to destroy. She knew the vampires would not find the brothers and she was close to them now. “I’m going out for a while.” She stood up and Michael stood up quickly. She was dressed for battle and he knew she would go out and look for them alone. Everything had changed between since that night in the woods. He prayed she would forgive him soon. Or get herself killed without him.

“No Selene. Do you want them to kill you? We should stay together.” Michael pleaded. He knew it wouldn’t matter. She turned and faced him when he caught her arm. A split second before he had been across the room from her. He watched as her brown eyes began to lighten with her anger. “Please Selene.” He whispered, his head reaching up for her hair. They both knew he was stronger and faster than her… But her skills were much better. Michael relied too much on his speed and strength. After a few seconds she relaxed and he released her arm.

“I just want to be alone for a while, Michael.” Finally he nodded, his long hair falling into his face.

“Be careful. Please.” He said as she turned away. Their flat was barely furnished as much as Michael tried to make it feel like home. They were almost at the top of a high rise. He stared at the door as it shut behind her…

'Markus… You cannot control him.' The words were thrown from her mind as Selene sat perched upon the top of a six story building.

'Selene.' It was a hiss in her mind and Selene leaped to her feet her mind racing. 'You fed on my father.' It was Markus, speaking. Was he close by?

'I will find you Markus.'

“You already have.” This whisper sounded close to her and Selene leaped forward turning in mid air, her gun already in her hand. There was a rush of wind as he swooped down from the air. His monstrous, hybrid body landed near her, but she did not fire. She wanted William dead first. Without Markus she might never find him. “Your bullets are useless Selene… I merely want to speak with you.” She did not lower her gun only stared at him, her eyes full of icy hate. Power radiated from him in what felt like ripples in the water. Barely noticeable useless you remained completely still. “You will come with me.”

“I will kill your brother.” He only nodded, his eyes, completely black, reminded her of Michael. She needed Michael to help her kill William. She knew she could not do it alone.

“He is not with me now. I… Could not control him as you have predicted. You will come with me now.” She watched as he carefully sank back into his human shape… If one could call it that. Her eyes moved over his face then his eyes held hers. They were a lighter shade of blue that her own, although hers had already changed back to deep brown. His face was sharp and angular even with the red beard. His long red hair seemed to echo of the rage contained within him. He worn no more than simple black pants, as he could not wear a shirt when using his wings. Viktor was lucky she had ended his existence, for this one would have made it much more painful…

Markus reminded her of Michael when in his non-human form. He moved toward her and Selene pressed the gun to his chest. His muscles rippled as he pushed closer too her and Selene shivered. Fangs glinted as he spoke. “This way.” With that he walked past her and right off the side of the building. Selene followed, her eyes still wide from the shock of it all. If he were lying… Her end was near…

Selene landed easily beside him in a crouch and then stood carefully, watching him. Together they headed toward the back of the ally. Moving away from the city….
