Chapter II
Chapter II
Nola kneeled before her father in fear more than respect. She rarely showed that to him but if Loki got angry, she knew it was best to submit to him. Her dark hair covered her face as she looked towards the floor in disgust. Her father did not understand what she had to do. The General Aid’ian should be hers. He was perfect and his position would give her back the honor her father took away when he stepped down as Elder of the clan.
Nola heard the doors open and Santana walked in. Nola growled at the scent of her. Loki snarled at her and Nola was silent. Santana kneeled beside Nola as the guard directed her.
The white dreads on his head told of his age but little else. Loki still had the power to put you in your place be it by words or by blade. The Elder sat there looking from one to the other with anger.
“What brought about this conflict?” He clicked at Santana who had her head down.
“Nola called Janvee a whore because she is pregnant again.”
The two guards in the chamber looked at Nola. She had not told her father that.
“You know that is not true but you decided to hurt Nola anyway.”
Santana closed her eyes. “She knows how I feel about my mother.”
“Yes we all do” The Elders had a soft purr in his clicks. “You know she will bait you for no other reason than because she can.”
Nola raised her head to speak but Loki snarled at her and Nola lowered her head and remained silent.
“You need to rise above this Santana or it will make you act like she does.”
Nola clenched her fists as her father spoke those words. The doors opened again and the General and Captain walked into the room.
Loki picked up a foot wide, two-inch thick metal square and laid it on his lap. Nola raised her head slightly to watch Aid’ian walk over to her father.
“Aid’ian and Ron’zen, I am pleased by your appearance today. You are in for an amazing time.”
Nola made a sound of pain when Loki looked down at the metal square and began reading the entire history of the Ghrey clan.
“Father, please not that again.”
Santana looked at Nola as Loki began clicking very slowly telling them the history. This was awful punishment. The history was not boring it was Loki and his slow clicks and his need to explain everything.
“If we apologize to each other he will stop.”
Santana did not turn her head as she spoke. “Take back calling my mother a whore or I’ll finish what I started.”
Nola clinched her fists even tighter but did not look at Santana. She looked up at her father. “Father I have something to say.”
Nola looked at Aid’ian before turning towards her enemy. Santana faced her skeptical that Nola would keep her word. Nola again looked over at Aid’ian but this time the General was staring at Santana’s exposed legs. Anger welled in her body and she returned her gaze to Santana with black eyes of rage.
“I am sorry I let the family secret out Santana.”
Before Santana could pound on Nola Aid’ian grabbed her around the waist, lifting her to her feet. His arm was tight around her waist; he did not know his own strength or he wanted to crush her. Aid’ian could feel the heavy weight of her breasts on his forearm as he pulled her closer to his hard body. Her scent was soft as the brown skin between her neck and shoulder, where his mandibles softly touched.
Santana tried to control her anger and breathing. Aid’ian’s strength increased making her feel the muscles in his body bulging against her small, soft frame.
“Is this how She’bach raised you?”
The fight left her body. She’bach would be furious with her if he knew she was fighting.
Nola watched them not liking Aid’ian holding her so tightlyas if he needed to use that much strength to keep her still.
Loki growled. “You think you are wise to make her angry Nola?”
Nola continued to watch the General ignoring her father. She watched Aid'ian holding Santana close to his body while scenting along her neck, pretending it was necessary to calm her. He whispered in her ear and Santana nodded. He then, slowly released Santana from his grip. It looked like a caress to Nola.
The general then raised his eyes and looked over at her with contempt. “You need to act as your father has taught you”
Nola lowered her head as the General continued. “If I am interrupted again your punishment will be severe.”
Santana lowered her head when the light blue gaze fixed on her. “Is that understood?”
The two nodded.
“Santana Jeri needs your help in the Archives will you assist her?”
“Yes Elder Loki.”
The Elder smiled at her. Nola looked up at her father and his smile faded. “You Nola will help Sari in cleaning.”
“But father Santana is more suited for the non thinking work.”
Santana resisted the urge to break a mandible.
“Jeri has requested her help.”
Nola glared at her father. “You always take the others side against me.”
“I see you are finally noticing some things.”
Nola growled in disgust and angrily turned to leave.
“You have not been dismissed.” Loki growled.
Nola slowly turned back staring at her father with hatred. Loki snarled, her obedience returned, and she dropped her head.
“You are dismissed Santana.”
She nodded at the Elder and turned to leave. Aid’ian nodded at the Elder and followed her.
“I am surprised she does not have any marks”
Santana turned surprised to see the General following her; she lowered her head.
Aid’ian raised her chin gently. “As much as I like your hair, your face is much more beautiful to look at.”
Santana really did not listen to his words because she was staring up into the light blue eyes of the Warrior General. Her parents had much respect for Aid’ian and Santana wanted to show him the same.
“I respect you and to show you submission is a form of it.”
He still held her chin. “I know of your respect but I would prefer talking to your face.”
Santana slowly pulled away from him smiling. Her eyes twinkled when she smiled a true smile.“Yes General.”
He leaned down to her. She was tall for a female at 5’10, but still short to him.“Call me Aid’ian.”
Santana shook her head no. “I can’t do that.”
Aid’ian moved closer. “I insist.”
The words were in a purr and in the back of Santana’s mind, she knew that meant something but right now she wasn’t too worried about it.
“General may I speak with you?”
Nola’s soft clicks pulled Santana’s gaze from Aid’ian’s face and towards Nola trying to get the General’s attention.
“I will take my leave.”
Santana nodded at Aid’ian and slowly walked away as he watched her backside swaying naturally, thoughts not of strategy for war went through his mind.
Nola called his name twice without a response and decided to take a direct approach. She walked in front of him, obstructing his view of Santana. He almost drew his blade but calmed the beast inside before his hand did his mind's bidding.
She had arranged her top so that he saw her breast from his vantage point. She stepped even closer so that she was standing in his personal space. Aid’ian held his ground.
She smiled up at him with her soft brown eyes and beautiful face. “I am sorry for my behavior in there.”
“Apologize to you father Nola.”
She moved even closer. She wanted him to touch her. She knew he could smell her desire and that she would deny him nothing. She stared up at the General wearing his dreads in a high ponytail and the mesh from his sparring this morning. He was a true male. Nola breathed deeply of his scent and opened her eyes to stare up into his light blues. She began to feel dizzy standing there being enveloped by all that is Aid’ian.
“Excuse me” Aid’ian walked by her and down the hall.
Nola felt as if he had slapped her and turned to watched him walk down the hall without looking back at her.
