Chapter Two

“Doug, where are we?” Christy whined from the passenger seat of the car. She turned her head this way and that to look out her window, then the front windshield, and then the back.
“We‘re lost aren‘t we?” It was a rhetorical question.

Doug let out a slow sigh through his clenched teeth and gripped the steering wheel tighter.
“No, dear, we are not lost. We just got turned around a bit and that is all.”

“Hey is that a person?” Christy said suddenly and pointed at a figure that was standing halfway in the shadows several feet ahead.
“Yeah, Yeah I think it is. She looks lost, lets pick her up.” Doug suggested as he began to slow down and pull over to the side of the road as they grew closer to the girl.

Christy hit him on the arm and shook her head quickly. “No! No, Doug, she could be a psycho killer for all we know! Doug you stop right now!”

Too late, the car had stopped right next to the girl. Candy leaned over to the door and pushed it open for the girl. The girl climbed inside and Doug turned her head to look back at her, he looked her up and down and his mouth dropped open in shock.
“Holy shit Candy! This girl looks just like you. Well accept her hair is blonde and yours isn‘t. But you two could be twins.”

The girl giggled at his comment and threw her arm around Candy’s shoulders.
“Well, fancy that. I‘ve always wanted a sister. My name‘s Baby.”

Christ turned her head and smiled quickly and then turned back around in her seat. Rolling her eyes she shook her head, “Doug, can we just please go now?”

Doug looked over at his girlfriend as if just remembering that she was there also.
“What? Oh yeah sure. Uh, where you headed Baby?”

“Why home silly. Where else?” She giggled again. “Where you all headed?”

“Do see some place dealing with Dr. Satan. You ever hear of it?” Candy spoke up from next to Baby.

“Hear of it? Well yeah its right by my house. I‘ll take ya there if ya want.”

“Awesome!” Doug exclaimed from the driver seat as he stepped on the gas pedal. “So, how far is it to your hou-”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence though as suddenly there was a loud bang and the car jerked out of control. He slammed on the brakes and finally the car slid to a halt.
“Jesus! Is everyone ok? Christy, sweetie, you ok?”

Christy nodded her head, breathing hard from the shock. She looked back at Baby and Candy and they were fine also.

“Well, I guess I‘ll just have to walk back to Spaulding‘s and get some help. Everyone just stay in the car ok?”

“Wait, my house is just up the street, why don‘t me and you just walk there? I can send my brother back with his tow truck and he can fix the tires on your car.” Baby piped up from the backseat.

“Well then its settled. You stay here with Candy and Baby and I will go get help.” Doug said as he unbuckled and climbed out of the car. Completely ignoring Christy’s protests. “Look, just lock the doors and you‘ll be fine and safe in the car.”

Christy huffed in annoyance and leaned back in her seat. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Doug and Baby walk off and soon disappear into the darkness before them.
