See ya around luv

Chapter 1: See ya around luv.

“Abby sweetie, it’s time to wake up.” Misty whispered as she poked the twenty year old woman’s side. Abby stirred under her touch but didn’t wake so Misty gave her a little harder poke.

“What do you want?” Abby asked in a sleepy voice. Her blue eyes slowly fluttered open and taking immediate notice of the old woman standing over her. Misty was about 50 years old with graying hair. Abby has always known she was not her real mother but didn’t know anything else about the matter. She doesn’t know how she ended up here or why. Misty has told her countless times that it was hard for her mother to let her go but would never say anything else on the subject.

“Isabelle needs your help. You should know your chores by now.” Misty said as she walked over to a nearby dresser, grabbing Abby’s work dress and laid it on the foot of her bed. “Here put this on and get up there. I don’t think I can cover for you if your late again.” Misty said as a small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.

“The only reason I help her is to keep you happy, you know that right?” Abby said as she climbed out of the bed and grabbed the dress and walked behind the curtain that was used for changing in the maids rooms. Misty smiled a little at the daily statement, then started to make the bed. Abby quickly slipped the dress on and started helping Misty clean her room. As soon as she was done she made her way up the stairs to Isabelle’s room. She opened the door quietly. It was still completely dark inside, the curtains where still closed not allowing any of the brilliant sunlight into the room. She made her way to Isabelle’s bed and softly whispered her name to wake her up. She used to wake her up by knocking on the doors but it always took about five minutes since Isabelle was such a deep sleeper.

“Isabelle it’s time to wake up.” She whispered a little louder. She still didn’t wake so Abby turned to her other options. She walked over to the curtains and quickly pulled them open, the sunlight fully hitting Isabelle’s bed.

“Uh… already morning?” Isabelle said and she rubbed her eyes and sat up on the edge of her bed. “I would like to go to town today Abby, to go shopping.” Isabelle said as she stood and waited expectantly for Abby to lead her behind her own curtain. Abby went to Isabelle’s dresser and pulled out one of her light blue dresses. It was Abby’s favorite of all the dresses Isabelle had. Isabelle however liked the dark maroon dress that showed a little to much cleavage for a decent lady. Abby led her to the curtain and helped her with her corset and dress. She loved the corset part. Isabelle was never very kind to her or Misty, so Abby would take her out her anger on the laces of the corset, pulling them tighter than needed but Isabelle never took notice until she couldn’t breathe. Then Abby would have to just slightly loosen them, yet at the same time making sure it would still be difficult for Isabelle to catch her breath.

“Do you have to do it so tight Abby; I can hardly breathe as it is.” Isabelle whined. Abby rolled her eyes but did what she was told and loosened the laces a little. After they finished with the dress Abby pulled Isabelle’s hair into a tight bun and loaded her face up with pointless makeup. When she first took on this job she never used so much makeup, only a little bit of kohl and barely any eye shadow. But as Isabelle got older she felt she needed to put what seemed like ten pounds of makeup on her face. When they finished they walked downstairs to the dining room where Isabelle’s father was quietly drinking his coffee and waiting for his precious daughter. As soon as he seen her, his face lit up with happiness and a smile came to his kind face. He was so much nicer than Isabelle making Abby wonder on many occasions if she was actually adopted into the family. Abby shook her head to get rid of her thoughts and took her place in the corner of the room.

“Isabelle my darling, how are you this morning.” Her father said as he stood from his chair and pulled one out for his daughter. She smiled at him and took her seat and started to nibble on the breakfast that was put out before her.

“Father I would like to go shopping today if that is alright with you.” Isabelle said as she gave her father a pleading look. He smiled instantly and nodded his head in compliance.

“Of course dear, I will give you some money.” He replied as he took another sip of his coffee.

“Oh, thank you father!” Isabelle squealed with happiness and started to eat her food faster so she could leave for town as soon as possible.

“I would like for you to stay clear of the blacksmith darling.” Her father said as he sat his cup back onto the table.

“Oh, I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the man? What has he done father?” Isabelle asked. She was always eager to learn about things that she could gossip about later with her ‘friends’. Mostly the other women didn’t talk to her, they just followed their husbands around as if they were on leashes so they couldn’t get away when Isabelle came near.

“Darling I have found out recently that the man is good friends with a pirate.” Her father explained.

“But isn’t he married to the governors daughter?” Isabelle asked with confusion. She would never understand why people of high rank would even bother with pirates.

“Yes he is, but I still don’t want to be taking any chances.” Her replied.

“Of course father. I will make sure to keep safe. You can trust me, and besides if any pirate does come he can have Abby. I’m sure a pirate won’t know the difference between a lady and a maid.” Isabelle said. Abby’s eyes went wide and she had to take several deep breaths to make sure that the next time she moved it wouldn’t be to strangle Isabelle.

“Daughter, you know you shouldn’t speak that way.” Her father said. Abby could tell he was trying to scold her but he failed miserably. Isabelle looked up from her food and gave her father an apologetic smile.

“I’m sorry father I should know better.” She said then stood from her chair. “Father if you will excuse me I would like to go to town now and get my shopping done.” Her father nodded to her and stood up from his own chair and exited the room to his study. When he returned he had a leather pouch in his hand. Abby could hear the jingle of coins as he handed it to Isabelle.

“Come Abby, we shall go to town now.” Isabelle said and exited the room and made for the front door. Abby quickly rushed up beside her and opened the door and followed after her. They walked down the front path and out of the gates. The town was only a ten minute walk but Abby never came out here alone. She especially never went down the path that led away from the servant’s door. She always got an eerie feeling when she was out there. It scares her so much she makes sure never to be alone when she has to go hang cloths on the line or do any other type of chores.

“Keep up Abby.” Isabelle yelled over her shoulder when she noticed how far behind Abby was.

“Sorry ma’am.” Abby said as she quickened her pace. The town was alive with activity when they got there. Merchants were yelling to passerby’s, trying to lure in any possible customers. Isabelle ignored all of the merchants and headed to her favorite dress shop. Many of her friends were already in there and they instantly began talking about the new information Isabelle had about William Turner. Abby lost interest and walked out of the front door and stood in the warm sunlight. She looked around her and felt terrible every time a person just ignored a merchant. She looked to the nearest stall and noticed the man that was looking at the variety of items on display. He looked up to the merchant and a small smirk came to his face when he seen the merchant was busily talking with another customer and not paying any attention to him. Her mouth dropped when the man pocketed a necklace and a couple rings, then he turned around and walked in the opposite direction down the street. She let her eyes follow him for a while. She had never seen anyone steel anything here in Port Royal. The man looked like he was completely drunk by the way he was walking down the streets. He had long dark hair, most of it in dread-locks or braids, with all sorts of trinkets woven in here and there. She didn’t get a good look at his face but for the brief seconds that she did look at him she took instant notice of his dark brown kohl rimmed eyes.

She couldn’t help but smile when she seen him turn around in the street and casually walk back. She never had any excitement in her life and watching a thief at work was turning out to be quite a bit of fun. She got a little nervous when he didn’t stop at any stalls and just continued walking closer to her. She looked down the other end of the street and seen nothing that she would think he would be interested in. She guessed that from his worn out clothing that he was a commoner yet he looked as if he could pay for something if he needed to. She turned her head back to where he last was and shuddered when they locked eyes. He wasn’t walking anymore, he was standing in the middle of the street just staring at her. He broke the stare first only to let his eyes rake over her body and as he did a small smile came to his lips. She was about to turn around and go back into the store but her legs didn’t listen to what her mind was yelling at her to do. The man just continued to smirk at her then took a hesitant step forward. Fear shot through her body immediately but her legs still would not cooperate. She couldn’t help but swallow when the man finally reached her. He stood there with that smirk still planted firmly on his face.

“’Ello luv, I couldn’ ‘elp but notice you back there.” He said, trying to make some sort of conversation. “I’m captain Jack Sparrow, and you are?” He asked. She took another swallow and a short breath before responding.

“Abegail Waters, or just Abby.” She said in a small voice.

“Nice to meet ya Abby.” Jack replied. “I noticed that you seen me at work a while ago, and I’m a little worried about what you are gonna do.” He said. Her eyes widened a little. She didn’t even noticed he looked at her.

“I’m not going to turn you in if that is what you were thinking.” She said in a little bit stronger voice. Jack smiled back at her while waving his hands around. It made Abby a little nervous at first but soon she thought it was quite funny to see a man acting this way.

“Well, I have some business to attend to.” He said as he gave her a little bow. “See ya around luv.” He said then made his way back down the streets. Abby just shook her head and let out a small chuckle. In the twenty years she has been living here she has never seen a man as interesting as that one.
