Lucina
CHAPTER ONE: Lucina
It was 1:45 am, and the orderlies at Mount Sinai Hospital were overwhelmed with bodies rolling in, all coming from Coral Gables.
Four of them stood and waited for their supervisor to walk in, commenting on how they were all going to be very busy.
Soon, a short stocky man with brown balding hair, and a graying beard appeared. He was not happy, as evident by the larg scowl on his lips.
"I knew this would not be my weekend", he snapped. He had not at all been happy about being called at 1:00 in the morning for 23 fresh ones.
He wasted no time, and immediatly began giving orders to each of the orderlies.
"Sammi, you take that body to Examination Room 3", he said pointing a covered figure of what looked like a woman.
He told all four orderlies to wheel bodies to their proper locations.
The last had been William, who was instructed to deliver someone to Room 3. A man, who should lay in the same place as his sister.

"Here's you one", William said, as he deliverd the corpse, bloody in various parts of the body.
Bradford stood with his back turned and had been waiting patiently.
"Thanks Will", he replied.
With William soon out of the room, Bradford was left alone, and all around candles were lit curiously. The candles were always lit in Room 3.
Everyone knew this, just as they knew that Bradford meditated before every job. Tonight, his meditation was especially needed.
Bradford looked around and noticed that his assistant wasn't there with Tony Montana's paperwork. "Where the hell is she?" Bradford said to himself.
He was eager to get started, to do what he intended to do, what he had waited for all his life. It was much more than an autopsy. He sighed, walked to were Tony lay, standing over him.
He brushed his hand against Tony's face as he gently removed the sheet from it. "You are the one I've been waiting for", he said.
Tony was almost white. His eyes while open, were rolled into the back of his head. Bradford rubbed his middle finger agaist Tony's forehead and down the bridge of his nose.
"You're gonna be just fine", he said smiling. Then he closed the man's eyes.

Half a second later, Bradford felt someone approching. A woman walked into the examination room, led by a grief counsler.
When asked if she wanted to be alone, the woman said yes. Her eyes were hollow and wet with tears.
Her black hair pulled back into a messy bun, and she shook, clutching her purse.
"You are Bradford Bardoux?" she asked, seeing the nametag. She spoke with an accent. "Yes I am, may I ask who you are?" Bradford already knew. He observed her with her short stature and unkept conservative clouths.
"I am Lucina Montana", the woman mutterd quickly. "I--I was told that you have my daughter." As he looked at the woman calmly, Bradford said, "Yes we do". Before he could say anything else, the woman cut him off sternly and angrily, her eyes wide and unflinching.
"No, there's got to be some mistake, I have to see her."
She didn't want to believe that her only daughter was dead. Taken from her by some sensless bullshit. Bradford noticed that, initially, she did not mention a son, who was lying on the table only a foot away.
Under those circumstances, he wasn't sure he blamed her.
"Yes of course you can see her", he replied softly, "She's right over here." The woman named Lucina stared at the sheet that supposedly held her dead daughter underneath. She froze for a moment. She did not want to move, but she knew she had to.
As she herself removed the sheet away frim the young girl's face, her heart sunk. She couldn't breath.
Her worst fears had been realized.
She stood there, leering at the reality of Gina's dead body. Then, she collapsed. She was on the floor, shaking her head and screaming.
"NO! NO!!! Not my baby", she cried. "Not my sweet Gina!!"
Bradford stepped away silently, leaving Lucina to sob next to her child.
He knew not interfere with a mother's grieving. Lucina stood, and put her head on Gina's stomach, sobbing.
"Why", she screamed. "Why did you lie to me Gina? Why? You told me you would never leave the house that day. But you did, you left anyway, and now look what has happend!!" She cried, clutching her daughter's shoulders. "I told you he was no good for you Gina, I TOLD you!!"
Bradford watched her sadly. This was the worst part of his job. The woman soon turned to him, with tears streaming from her eyes. "Where is my son?" she asked. Now she is forced to acknowlege him, thought Bradford.
"He's just over there", he said, and the woman passed him.
She stood over the body of her son. She stared at him without flinching. "You destroyed my daughter", she whisperd. "Just like I knew you would." Bradford jumped, when she abruptly slapped her dead son across the face. The sound was harsh, and filled the room.
Lucina began to cry again.
"How could you do this to us? To me? How could you destroy your life, hers and mine? You destroyed everything!" she yelled. She paused trembling, as she gently moved Tony's head back to position. She did not let it go, instead cradling it like a mother holding her son.
"May God have mercy on you Antonio", she mutterd. "As I have chosen to do."
To forgive was not an easy thing to do. But that's what she had done.
"I want them taken care of", she told Bradford softly.
"Will do," he said.
Tanya, the coroner's assistant walked in just then. "Sorry for the wait", she said, handing Bradford Tony's papers.
"Let Tanya escort you out miss Montana", he said.
As they walked out, Bradford called to Tanya and told her that she had better stay out for a while. She nodded and turned away. She knew what he ment. What he intended to do.
