Chapter two

Ch.2

Connor sat at the bar staring into his glass of gin. "Can you believe that guy."

"What are you talking about man." Murphy was already done with his first three glasses and had a bit of a slur.

"That guy we got there in the alley," Connor looked at his brother, "That sickened me, it was broad day light and he was about to rape that girl."

"That is why we do what we do." Murphy took another swig then got back to talking with Doc.

Connor tuned his brother out and got lost in his thoughts yet again. That is until Murphy nudged him, "What do you fucking want man?"

"Speaking of 'that girl' she just walked in." Murphy nodded toward the door. "She looks down man, maybe you should go cheer her up?" Murphy grinned and chuckled a bit.

"Shit, she knows our faces!" Connor whispered to his brother, "What do we do? She could fucking expose us." Connor looked toward the woman. She was dressed in a light blue t-shirt and blue flare jeans. Her hair was still in it's pony tail. And Murphy was right, she did look down.

"I don't think she would do that, did you see the look in her eyes." Murphy stated, "I bet she forgot what we look like anyway, even if she did, there isn't a soul in this bar who doesn't fucking know about us."

Before Murphy was done speaking the girl had sat in the stool next to Connor, she didn't even look at the two, just straight ahead, as if in a daze. Connor noticed tear streaks on her face, though her eyes were dry.

"What will ye b-b-b... FUCK.... ASS" Doc stuttered then swore, "Oh what will ye be havin'?"

"I-I a.. whiskey." She replied and reached into her pants pocket, she only pulled out three dollar bills.

"I'll get it for ya." Connor spoke up and handed Doc a five.

When the girl faced him to thank him her eyes widened, "You.. I mean, thanks for the drink." She almost blurted it out. But she caught herself in time. "Um, my name is Corin." She gave a weak smile and held out her hand. "Just thought as the gentleman buying me a drink you should know my name."

"What? He ain't no fuckin' gentleman, are you Connor?" Murphy laughed out, "Down right nasty he is."

"Shut it Murph!" Connor hissed, "Fucking drunk, get a hold of yourself man."

"Connor is it?" Corin nodded as Doc handed her a whiskey. She took a drink and made a face as it hit her taste buds. "That's a nice Irish name."

"Aye, so is Corin." Connor smiled warmly at her and took a swig of his gin. "You look upset."

"It's nothing," She looked down into the glass, "I was late to work for the last time, they fired me as soon as I walked in the door, told me to turn around and head back out." Her lower lip trembled, "And my landlord kicked me out, Have to be out completly on Friday."

"I would say that's something." Connor replied pity in his eyes. "Where will you go?"

Corin looked at Murphy who was also listening to her speak then she looked back at Connor, "I don't know, my family lives to far to get to, and I haven't made a single friend since moving to Boston."

Murphy tapped Connor's shoulder, when Connor turned to face him he whispered, "Invite her to stay with us, just for a few days, couldn't hurt none."

"Have you lost it man? That place we call home, isn't fit for a woman to set foot in." Connor hissed.

"Neither are the streets, and that'll be where she will be if she doesn't come with us." Murphy said.

Connor nodded in agreement, "Aye you're right," He turned to face Corin again, "I know you don't know us very well, but I won't be having you on the streets, there are evil men out there, come and stay with us, on friday we will help you bring your things," He paused, "We don't have much so your things can stay in our place."

Corin looked at both brothers, "You two don't even know me, and yet you're offering me a place in your home?" She nodded. These two really were saints in more ways than one. "Thank you. And for re-payment, until I find myself another job, I'll clean, cook, do your laundry."

"Deal." Murphy chimed in. "Looks like we got ourselfs a room mate."
