Chapter 1 - Damn the Consequences

Jack watched her silently as she contemplated whether or not she should tell him. Hands rested on her arms gently and pulled her back against him, “Tell me what he has that keeps you in service.”

She sighed in defeat, “My mortality. I am bound to him till he releases that part of me.” Jack frowned confused.

“Couldn’t you just jump off his ship then?” Jack queried with a scowl not fully understanding.

“Aye if I wished to face the world alone for the rest of eternity. Think what you will of me Jack but I’m not strong enough to face the world alone forever. Better to face it with one you despise than alone in my opinion.” Jack wrapped his arms about her tighter and gazed out over the ocean from over her shoulder.

“What about if you’re alone when mortal? If you got your mortality?” She smiled slightly.

“At least I would know that there would be an end, at least I would be able to die.” Jack nodded slowly and rested his chin on her shoulder.

“Is that all you really want? To be able to die?” Oria laughed slightly and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. He merely smiled faintly, “Is there nothing else you want in the whole world?”

“Yes, there’s one thing I desperately crave but it can’t be truly mine until I’m mortal again. That’s the hinge that opens the door to everything.” Jack nuzzled against her neck suggestively.

“How do you go about getting your mortality back?” Oria smiled faintly.

“By making him an offer he can’t refuse.” Jack glanced up at her curiously.

“And what offer might that be?” Oria met his gaze.

“I can’t tell you.” She released herself from his arms and strode back into the cabin, Jack followed her with his eyes. A plan was formulating in his mind, a very interesting plan. Slowly he stepped back into the room and locked the door behind him watching as Oria clambered into her hammock. She had refused to sleep in the bed since Tortuga.

Oria glared as Jack leaned over the side of the hammock, “You know you don’t have to sleep in the hammock.”

“Aye but I also know what’ll happen if I get in that bed Jack Sparrow.” Jack smirked slightly and tugged at her blanket insistently.

“Come on, we’re past this whole sleeping apart thing love.” Oria shook her head and turned away from him. Jack glanced about the room swiftly before picking up a knife and standing next to the rope bindings that kept the hammock up. Oria glanced up as he started to slice away at the rope.

“What are you doing?” He focused on the rope intently willing it to fray.

“Giving you no other option.” He grinned at her mischievously as the rope began to thread. Oria wriggled around to glare at him.

“You wouldn’t dare.” Jack stopped as a few threads remained and strode over to the other end and the knife set back to work at slicing that. Oria sat up and attempted to jump out of the hammock a second too late as the frayed ropes gave, depositing her and the hammock on the floor with a dull thud.

“I dared.” Oria glared at him but there was no menace behind it. He offered a hand to her and she smiled faintly as she accepted it and let him pull her to her feet. She snapped it free as soon as she was stood up.

“That was not a wise move Sparrow. I think that I shall have to go and get a hammock from the crew and I’ll sleep there as well.” She headed for the door, Jack beat her to it and stood with his arms folded leaning against the solid wood.

“That would be an equally unwise move.” Oria raised an eyebrow fighting back a smirk.

“Really… why would that be?” Jack stepped away from the door and placed his hands on her hips slowly pushing her back.

“Because if anyone is going to be ravishing you I fully intend for it to be me and not some strange crewman in the middle of the night.” She moved obligingly backwards till the backs of her knees hit the bed. Glancing back at it with a raised eyebrow she paused debating whether or not she should let this proceed. Jack sensed her hesitation and leaned forwards to nip at her throat, she quickly turned her attention away from her internal thoughts and onto Jack.

Screw the consequences, she could deal with them when they came. Right now she was only concerned with satisfying the hunger Jack had awoken all too easily.
