Chapter 2

Undercover Mission

Chapter 2

“You sure you’ll be alright kid? I’d be more than willing to go with you,” Han asked.

“I’m sure Han. Me and Mara will be fine. I’ll contact you once we reach Cassius,” Luke answered.

“Fine, just be careful. Leia would never let me hear the end of it if anything happened to you,” Han nodded.

“Don’t worry, Jade won’t let me get myself killed,” Luke smirked.

“That’s right. I’ve kind of gotten used to having you around Farmboy,” Mara teased as she walked up to them.

Han chuckled as he studied his friends. His gut was telling him that something was about to change in Luke and Mara’s relationship, if it hadn’t already. He reached out and shook Mara’s hand. He then pulled his brother-in-law into a tight embrace.

“Fair skies my brother,” Han said.

“I’ll see you soon brother. Take care of Leia and the kids,” Luke replied.

Luke and Mara gave Han a wave then walked up the ramp of the ship. The two had borrow a ship from Lando and flying under false identification. A few minutes later they were on their way to Cassius.

“You ready for this? Cassius can be a bit rough,” Mara questioned as they made the jump into hyperspace.

“It can’t be any rougher than Mos Esley. I’m ready,” Luke answered.

“That’s right, I forget you grew up around some of the rougher space ports,” she smiled.

Mara sat at the controls. She had ordered Luke to go get some rest. As she sat in the co-pilot’s chair, her mind began to wander. More specifically to the kiss she and Luke had shared a week ago. Though she had told him to forget it, she herself couldn’t.

‘Why can’t I forget it? It was just a stupid kiss. Or was it? When he held me, it felt so right. Almost like I was meant to be in his arms. His arms and only his,’ she thought.

“Oh hell Jade. You and Luke are really in it now,” she sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

*Mara? You okay?*

*Aren’t you suppose to be sleeping Farmboy?*

*I got hungry,*

*You and your stomach,*

*What can I say. Now, you going to answer my question?*

*Just thinking. I’ll be fine,*

*If you say so Jade. Don’t forget to wake me in two hours, then you can get some rest,*

*I won’t forget Skywalker,*

Mara gently closed her connection to the Jedi Master. Taking a deep breath, she cleared her mind and began meditating. She would need a clear head if she was going to pull off her part in this little mission.

Cassius was busy as usual. Luke and Mara made their way through the bustling crowds. Both were heavily disguised. Luke’s hair was dyed a deep brown and brushing his shoulders. His blue eyes were concealed behind black lenses and a jagged scar ran along the left side of his face.

Mara was just as disguised. Her red-gold hair was dyed a deep midnight black. Purple contacts covered her emerald eyes. A long scar ran from her shoulder to the elbow of her right arm.

“Let’s try here,” Mara said as she pointed to the hotel.

“Looks good. Come one,” Luke nodded.

The couple entered the hotel. “What can I get you?” the innkeeper grunted.

“We need a room for at least two weeks,” Luke stated.

“Two weeks? Here on business?” the innkeeper asked.

“What’s it to you?” Mara demanded.

“Forgive my wife. We’ve had a long trip. So, can you accommodate us or not?” Luke answered harshly.

“Yeah. Room 26 on the third floor. Payment up front,” the innkeeper replied.

After paying for the room, Mara and Luke headed to the third floor. Once in the room and away from prying eyes and ears, Mara spoke freely as Luke began unpacking his things.

“I’m impressed. You were pretty convincing down there,” she smiled as she began unpacking as well.

“Thanks. I guess all those undercover missions of mine finally paid off,” he smirked as he removed his cloak.

Mara couldn’t help but look at him. He was wearing all black, as usual, but it was WHAT he was wearing that got her attention. He was wearing a skin tight jumpsuit that showed off his body. The muscles in his back rippled as he moved.

‘Gods he looks good,’ she thought as she returned to unpacking her own suitcase.

Like Mara, Luke to took in Mara’s appearance. She wore a purple leather cat suit. The tight outfit showed off her curves and a fair amount of cleavage. His mind was already imagining what she would look like naked and preferably underneath him.

‘Damn. Get a grip Skywalker. You’ve got a job to do,’ he chastised himself.

“So, should we try the diner here at the hotel or one on the street?” she asked.

“Let’s try the one here. We should be able to get some information from the barkeep,” he answered.

“Good point. Well, I’m going to change in the refresher. I’ll be ready in a few minutes,” she nodded.

Luke returned the nod. He peeled himself out of the jumpsuit and began redressing. He chose tight black trousers and a tunic of blood red silk. He was just pulling on his boots when Mara exited the refresher.

“Wow,” he gasped.

“You like it?” she teased as she did a little twirl, her black hair spinning with her.

“Yeah. You look the part of a slaver’s wife. Dressed to impress,” he replied.

Mara smirked. She was wearing a form fitting dress that stopped an inch above her knees, showing off her long legs. The dress was sleeveless and definitely showed off her assets. Her legs were encased in black knee length heeled boots. The dress itself were was blood red, matching his tunic.

“Let’s go. Husband,” she grinned.

“After you. Wife,” he chuckled.

************************************************************************

The bar was crowded. Mara and Luke were quite the center of attention. Especially Mara. The barkeep was quite helpful. Luke and Mara told him they were in the market for fresh slaves. The barkeep told them that all the slave traders frequented a club a few block down from the hotel.

After eating their meal and generously tipping the barkeep for his information, the couple headed for the club. Mara was playing her part well. She practically draped herself on Luke as they neared the club.

*What’s the plan once we get inside oh fearless leader?* she teased.

*We just observe. Do a bit of mingling,* he answered.

*And if Tre’Lawn is there?*

*Mara, I know you would love to beat him into a nerf steak, but you can’t. If he’s there we study him,*

*Fine. I promise not to touch him. For now,*

Luke rolled his eyes as he pulled her tighter against him. They found the club and entered. The club was filled with dancing, drinks, and Force only knew what else. Luke and Mara found a booth that would allow them to observe the other patrons.

“I recognize at least five traders,” Luke said after their drinks arrived.

“I know, I see them. I don’t see our mark yet,” Mara replied.

“Just keep an eye out,” he stated.

“Oh Sith. There he is,” she gasped.

Luke looked to their left. Sure enough Tre’Lawn had just entered the club. He was about six three and at least two hundred and fifty pounds. Around him were three women, personal slaves from the looks of their attire. Behind him were six body guards.

“Doesn’t travel light does he?” Luke questioned.

“No. You can bet he’s carrying at least half a dozen concealed weapons. Tre’Lawn doesn’t take chances,” Mara sighed.

Suddenly, Luke got an idea. He signaled for a waiter droid. “Whatever that man and his group are drinking, their first round is on us,” Luke said.

“Yes sir,” the droid replied, then walked off.

“What the hell are you doing?” Mara hissed.

“Just play along. Come on, let’s dance,” Luke smiled.

************************************************************************

Tre’Lawn studied Luke and Mara as they danced. He had been surprised when a droid had informed him his first round of drinks were bought and paid for. He nodded to his second in command. A few moments later, his second returned with Luke and Mara.

“I would be honored if you and your…”

“My wife, Illia,” Luke said.

“Your wife, would join us,” Tre’Lawn offered.

“Thank you,” Mara smiled pleasantly as she and Luke sat down.

“It’s the least I could do. After all, you and your husband were generous enough to buy our first round,” Tre’Lawn replied.

“As I told Illia, it’s not everyday you see THE Tre’Lawn in person,” Luke grinned.

“How right you are Marston,” Mara purred as she leaned against him.
