Chapter 2
Superman stoops down lifting up the unconscious man, smiling that the lines of stress and worry are now gone from the man's face and he is resting peacefully. Pausing just a moment to enjoy the feel of cradling a warm body in his arm before he reverently lays the man down atop him bed. Gently tucking him in the warm navy blue covers he hands lightly brush the sleeping man's skin enjoying its smooth softness. Straightening up Superman can't help the well of emotions at seeing something so fragile and beautiful laying peacefully asleep in HIS bed...
Sighing slightly at where his run away train of thoughts was leading him he turns his attention to Diana; the one doctor on the planet he knew he could trust with out a doubt. She had been the one doctor who when he had taken his great fall recognized the deadly green crystal for what it was and removed it from the room. Though she was a great doctor had just been assisting as a nurse in the hospital at the time as none of the male doctors thought that they could trust the life of Superman to a woman. How ironic that it has been women who have saved him time and time again, Luthor's girlfriends, Lois and now her. Superman always preaches of equality and justice and after this woman saved his life when all others failed the world had to rethink some of its ideas.
Neither were sure how it happened that they became friends, but they did. Superman went to her almost exclusively whenever a new cache of Kryptonite would be uncovered and he would inevitably fall victim to it by some criminal or another...his trust for her grew immensely when he fell victim to Kryptonite by accident being assaulted by some common thugs while he was masquerading
as Clark Kent, it was serious and he had no choice but to go to her...and she never told. Never, not even her loving husband knows that Superman is really the dorkiest reporter in Metropolis...
Smiling at the surprisingly strong woman, who is brushing some dust off her skirt and sniffing in disapproval at the damage to the window. "Thank you for coming Diana, sorry it was a bit more excitement than you wanted...but I really appreciate your help." Superman says in complete honesty, bring a light blush to the woman's cheeks. Her brown eyes fall down as she plucks at invisible dust on her skirt once more before straightening.
"Of course, its the least I can do. If he has any problems please don't hesitate to call me." Superman agrees with a nod and she lets herself out of his apartment.
Brilliant blue eyes turn to the form hiding beneath his blankets, unable to help himself at the feelings warming his chest...unable to stop the hope...unable to keep from smiling as he lightly brushes his finger tips across the sleeping man's face...gently brushing away the slight worrying of the man's lips. Sighing at his inability to control himself Superman turns away from his bed and the beautiful man in it, his eyes catch his reflection in his vanity mirror.
Smirking at his ruined, charred costume and ash filled and completely disarrayed hair he moves over to the closet grabbing a pair of slightly faded jeans and a white t shirt before heading to the bathroom and a much needed shower.
