Chronicle 2: Stop Pushing my Buttons!!!
Key:
“ ”= Human

( )= Yaut
At first, when I opened my eyes, it stung. All I saw was a blinding white light. ‘So…I’m dead? Not so bad I suppose.’ I shrugged, my shoulders felt stiff. Heck, my whole body seemed like a petrified log!
“Ugh…man, what a way to go though…” I sighed, slowly sitting up, my joints cracking into place as I sat Indian style.
I lifted my right hand and begun softly rubbing my head, it felt…fuzzy. Finally yawning widely and for a good few seconds, I took a look around at what the afterlife looked like.
“What the?” There were all kinds of strange machines around me, several with monitors with foreign symbols and blinking lights. It was then that I eyed…the buttons. My green eyes widened. “My afterlife has buttons?! Awesome!!!” I leapt up from what might’ve been an exam table and flew to the consoles, pushing every button I could. Can’t help it, I’m a spaz.
A big blue button caught my eyes, ’Oohh, wonder what you do!” I squealed, promptly pushing the button. I jumped back as I heard a loud, shrill alarm sound and water began sprinkling down everywhere. “Uhh…not good.” I giggled nervously.
Suddenly, a door slid open and a young woman with curly, dirty-blonde hair ran in, black heels clicking against the stone floor. Her baby blue eyes were hidden behind half-moon spectacles.
“You certainly are a curious one aren’t you?” she said in a sweet voice, pushing the yellow button that was above the blue one I had just pushed, the sprinklers and alarm shutting down.
“What? Who are you?” I asked, my head titling to the left in confusion at the woman before me. She wore a long white lab coat, a knee-length black pencil skirt and a grey ruffled blouse.
“My name is Hannah Weaver. I am here to look after you, Stacy McGreggor.” the woman responded, grabbing a towel from a near-by closet and handing it to me.
“Huh, how do you know my name?” I asked, still confused.
“They’ve been watching you for a while now. I was taken a few years ago just to help you, Stacy.”
I felt creeped out now… “Just who’s been watching me?”
“You see, you were abducted by an alien race of nomadic warriors called Yautja. They are very proud creatures and are renowned hunters. You, little one, are on the ship belonging to a small Yaut clan, the Halkrath Clan.” Hannah explained, as I finished drying off.
“Okay…” Is all I said, just going along with it. ‘And people say I’m a crackpot.’
“If you will follow me, I will take you to the Elder of the clan.” she told me with a smile.
‘Might as well see as much as I can.’ I said in my head, shrugging in slight indifference.
Hannah took me out of the partially flooded room and led me down multiple hallways. They were all dimly lit, the markings I saw from the monitor in the room I was in were sculpted into the stone of what I could only assume were doors.
All the hallways were empty, only the sound of Hannah’s heels could be heard. I tensed a bit, I think I heard that purring-clicky sound! I moved closer to Hannah. ‘Yeah, as if she could protect me from something like that. She could be a nice meat shield perhaps.’
Ms. Weaver came to an abrupt stop, making me bump into her. “Sorry.” I muttered under my breath, my eyes darting around the corridors for any hazy shapes.
“Don’t be so tense, deary. You won’t be harmed in anyway I promise you.” she said, turning her head enough to show me a mind reassuring smile.
“If you say so, lady…” I wasn’t too reassured, how could she promise my safety?!
Hannah pressed a few keys on the pad beside a large metal door, opening it to reveal a rather grand room. It was much brighter in comparison, everything seeming almost a bronze-gold color. In the center was a large table, maybe used for meeting, gatherings and banquets, countless chairs surrounded the giant table, made from a strange metal.
At the front of the table, across from me was a marvelous throne. ’Wait, are those human skulls on the armrests?!’ I gulped rather audibly as I stared at the empty eye sockets.
(Oh, Honorable Elder.) Hannah called out in a loud, confident voice. I couldn’t understand a word she said, so I just observed the rest of the room.
On both side of the table were two sets of stone steps the curved with the room, leading up to a stone platform that overlooked the entire chamber. I also noticed the large, gallery-bay window that went from the floor to the ceiling. It was dark outside, but I saw several moons that were soft pastel colors innumerable glistening stars littered the dark purple space. And other orbs that might even be planets made me gape with awe.
I then noticed a large, bulky figure move from the window and descend down the right staircase. ‘He looks like that thing that shot me in my dream!’ Except this one was dark red with a crème colored belly and he seemed bulkier.
I just stared at this alien creature as it came closer to Hannah and myself. My fellow human bowed to this gargantuan who bowed after her. “Stacy, this is Elder R’ka, leader of the Halkrath Clan.” Hannah introduced.
“Uhh…hello, Mr. R’ka, sir.” I greeted nervously, staring at his masked face. I guess he understood as he bowed his head ever so slightly. I guess it’s a show of respect and understanding? I just bowed my head as this R’ka guy did.
(May I tell her why we brought her here now, Elder R’ka?) I guess Hannah asked him a question.
R’ka nodded, his right hand going to the side of his decorative helmet, a small hissing sound erupted as he disconnected a few wires and removing the metal faceplate.
My eyes widened. “A MUTANT CRAB-BEAST! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!” I shrieked, shocked by its appearance. ‘Well, not all aliens are little green men…’
I heard a strange, chortle-like sound come from the Yaut Elder. “He finds you rather funny. He likes that.” Hannah told me as a side note.
I wasn’t far off from comparing R’ka’s face to that of a mutated crab. Mandibles slightly covered his mouth which had no lips and some extremely sharp teeth.
“Come sit, Stacy.” Hannah ordered kindly, R’ka taking his place in the throne, Hannah and myself to his right.
“You see Stacy, R’ka’s clan is fairly new, thanks to the Elder’s great victories, he boosted his family’s influence a great deal. But, they are still a small clan.” Hannah explained as R’ka kept his sharp gaze on me. He has cool eyes, like a hawk’s.
“Ok…why do they need me then? Not that I’m ungrateful I guess…I have kind of dreamt of aliens my whole life! This is more then I could’ve dreamed of!”
“The Halkraths need some sort of an advantage over the other clans. So, they plan to train a Human female and have her mate with a suitable male and produce a child with the advantages of both species. You were chosen to help begin this experiment, Stacy.” Hannah finished, fingers intertwined.
I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. Before I could respond, R’ka held his right arm up to his mouth, a strange device on his forearm. I heard him speak, sounds more like barking to me, into the device and a secret door that I hadn’t seen opened, allowing four more Yautja to come in and stand before the table.
(Step forward when the Ooman woman calls your name.) I heard the Elder bark and growl to the younger warriors who bowed their masked heads in understanding.
“Stacy, I want you to meet Nrak’ytara, a brilliant tactician who has earned several small victories in claiming settlements.” Hannah began, the Yautja in question, Nrak’ytara was hunter green and his belly a very soft greenish yellow.
“Then we have Hult’ah, an exceptional scout with the sharpest eye in the Halkrath Clan.” Hult’ah seemed more Earthy then the others, his flesh being dark brown, his belly beige.
“And there is also Cetanu, aptly named after the Yaut God of Death. He is easily the strongest warrior this clan has to offer, passing his Chiva, a trial of Adulthood at a very young age and in record time.” Cetanu was pure black, with a heavily muscled physique, larger then his clan brothers.
“And last but not least, Bhu’ja. Twin brother to Cetanu. He is well known for numerous trophies, a jack-of-all-trades with weapons and a high sense of honor.” I glared at the pure white Yautja before me.
Bolting to my feet, “That’s the guy who shot me!!!” I declared angrily, pointing at Bhu’ja who titled his head in a confused fashion. “Oh yeah, you better believe I remember ya buddy!” I growled, probably not seeming like much of a threat to something like him.
R’ka howled with laughter at my reaction to Bhu’ja. “Please calm down, Stacy. It was the only way to detain you without injuring you.” I still kept my eye on the stark white alien who put a hand to his breast and bowed his head.
“He’s apologizing for the disgrace he brought upon you.” she told me.
“I guess I’ll forgive him for now.” I nodded, hoping he got the message.
Bhu’ja returned to attention as I recalled what Hannah told me. ‘They have pretty good bodies.’ Must have been the developing teenage hormones talking there.
As my mind wandered, I heard Hannah mention something about how they treat their females with great respect. “So let me get this straight. I have to bear the child of an alien that is devoted and has the body of a god?” I asked, making sure I understood my current situation clearly.
“Well, that is the idea.” Hannah answered, a strange look on her pretty face.
A lazy smile spread across my lips. “Best. Destiny. Ever.”
