Chapter 2 - Remember Me?

I finished helping my father carry the stuff in from outside and went up to my new bedroom to unpack. I rearranged the furniture to my liking; bed by the window, desk against the wall, TV on top of the dresser and hung my clothes up in the closet. I flicked on the television and made my bed. Just then there was a knock at my door. "Yeah?" I called out as my dad walked in.

"How's pizza sound for dinner?" He asked.

"Sounds good." I replied as I took out a few pictures and set them on my nightstand.

"I'll let you know when it gets here." My dad said before leaving, closing the door behind him with a soft click. I sighed ever so slightly and climbed into bed. Although I was staring at the TV, I wasn't really watching it. I was distracted by the memories of my dream... I looked around the room and with an eerie rush I noticed that it was the same room that the little boy with dish water blonde hair was in my dream... And the same door that Freddy Krueger popped out from across the room.

I slowly got out of my bed and crossed the room anxiously, as if expecting him to jump out at me again. I placed my hand on the doorknob and took a deep breath before wrenching the door open, and looking around. It was nothing but a bathroom. *Phew* I sighed a small sigh of relief and went to the sink to splash a little water on my face. "It was just a dream." I said aloud to myself as I looked into the bathroom mirror. "Just a dream." I repeated.

"Pizza's here!" My dad's voice suddenly broke through my thoughts. I took a few slices and scarfed them down, followed by a can of cola and bid my dad good-night before closing the door and turning around to face my bed.

"That's odd..." I mumbled to myself as I noticed the TV was no longer on the channel I had left it on. It was now on a white, flickering, static channel with really, really bad reception. I went to turn it off and climbed back into my bed feeling rather creeped out. I reached for the radio and turned on some tunes in an attempt to relax a little before switching off the lamp beside me. I laid in the dark for a long while listening to the sounds of the new house. Odd creeks and groans of the walls and floor boards. I rolled over and glanced at the clock, it read; 2:50am. That was the last thing I remembered seeing before falling into a deep sleep.

A sleep so deep that it almost felt like a trance, as if he were eagerly awaiting for my return. But when I abruptly awoke out of nowhere, I didn't see or hear anything unusual. I looked at the clock on my nightstand again, the numbers burned a bright red 3:00am. All of the sudden my door creaked open all by itself and didn't stop until it was wide open. I stared at it for a long second, wondering what I should do? Wondering if I was dreaming or not?

I decided to settle on the idea that this probably wasn't a dream and I got to my feet. However, no sooner than I came to that decision, I quickly changed my mind as I felt my feet sink straight into the floor like mud! I cried out in surprise and tried to get free, but it only seemed to make things worse.

"Need a hand?" Came Freddy's voice from beside me. I turned and gasped in fright as he sliced at me with his bladed hand. I barely managed to duck just in time and struggled through the tar pit floor away from him.

"Please! Please don't kill me!" I heard a girl's voice cry out and it took me a second to realize that it was me. I felt stupid. Pathetic. Like some lame victim in a horror movie. Or like a trapped rat. Trapped by a ferocious wild beast.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk.." He scolded while slowly walking over to the end I had just managed to make my way to with quite a bit of effort. So much effort, in fact, that I was slightly winded from all the work to keep my body from sinking all the way down to the bottom. To the... bottom..?

I shuddered at the thought of just how deep this disgusting stuff could possibly go... I certainly didn't want it past my neck or in my mouth. The idea of that alone almost made me gag. "You hurt ol' Freddy's feelings." He growled while crouching down beside me and staring straight into my eyes. Boring into my soul with his. Again, I froze up and couldn't get my tongue to work as I stared back at his horribly burned face and saw that the burns traveled down his neck and beyond. My eyes widened a little at the thought of what that meant...

"I-I..." I stammered like a foolish child. My face burned red.

"You don't remember me, do you?" He asked in what seemed to be an amused undertone beneath his gravely, rough voice. But before I could reply, he reached into the mess I was still stuck in and began to shove me under! I wasn't strong enough to fight him off and my face went into the disgusting melted floor. The sludge going down my throat, up my nostrils, in my ears. I felt like I was drowning, until suddenly I was falling. Falling from the ceiling and on to the floor. I landed hard and it knocked all the wind out of me, leaving me laying there motionless and gasping for air.

Within seconds he was there and he stood over me like a vulture waiting for his meal. I looked up at him helplessly as he bent over bringing his face closer to mine. "You know, it really is a pity you don't remember me." He said while extending his bladed hand out towards my face and touching one of his fingers to my nose, I felt the cold, hard and very sharp blade poke into my skin, but not enough to break the surface. "'Cause I remember you." He said darkly before jerking his bladed hand away from my face, the knives flashing past my eyes very quickly. He placed them in my hair and then straddled me. He brought his face to the side of mine, taking in a deep breath before I heard a loud SHINK!

I awoke sitting bolt upright and sweat pouring down my body. I was in my bed, in my room again. I looked around wildly but everything seemed to be normal. The sun was shining brightly, birds were chirping. I got out of bed and a lock of hair fell to the floor at my feet. My pulse sped up as I put two-and-two together, picking up my hair that had been cut off in my dream right before I awoke...
