Chapter Two
Celesta struggled with her bindings trying to free herself. There was no way she was going to sit and wait to be raped and killed by some Greek soldier. If this was what the fates had in stored for her then she would go down fighting. The sound of footsteps in the sand and struggling stopped her as she listened to the muffle sounds of another woman being dragged down the beach. The sound was coming closer. Some poor female was being brought here. The sick monster was collecting trophies. She heard voices outside and swore the female voice was familiar. “Tie her up next to the other one. Let them decide what to do with them when they get back.” A sick feeling sat in the pit of her stomach as the flaps were opened and a solider brought a struggling woman inside. “Here now you two can keep each other company until Achilles gets here.” The solider grinned as he tied the other woman behind Celesta. Celesta's heart sank as she heard the man walk back out. “Briseis are you hurt?” Celesta whispered softly fear settling in the pit of her stomach making her sick. “They killed Apollo's priest.” Briseis sobbed as Celesta felt her heart break for Briseis If she could only get free she would offer what comfort she could. “They are soldiers and no nothing else.” Celesta was surprised her voice sound strong She tried to move her hands to touch Briseis in an attempt to give her some sort of comfort. “Apollo will have his vengeance.” Briseis tried to hold back her tears as she felt the brush of Celesta's fingers on her own.” I know you do not put as much faith in the gods, but trust me on this.” Though she was scared she needed to strong for Celesta. “ From your lips then to their ears because we both know if I said a prayer right now they would curse us both.” Celesta closed her eyes as she tried to think of a way to save them both then it hit her. Before she had ventured out of the city she had grabbed a dagger in case she needed to fix the string on the bow she borrowed from Paris.” Hold still Briseis.” she struggled to angle her hips enough to get even her finger tips into the hidden pocket in her dress where the dagger lay just barley out of reach. “What are you doing?” Briseis whispered her eyes fixed on the opening of the tent as she heard voices” Someone's coming.” her heart thudded harshly inside her chest. “ Hold still.” Celesta hissed as she barely felt the handle of her dagger touch her finger tips. She struggled more encouraged by the taste of freedom she knew Briseis and her would have.” Once your hands are free you must run with the speed of Hermes's winged shoes all the way inside Troy's gates. Do not stop to look back at me. I will be right behind you.” her full attention was on getting her hands more fully on the dagger that slipped just beyond her fingertips. She swore as she tried to lift her hips a little more to the right. “And how do you expect to get passed all the soldiers on the beach?” the sudden sound of a male voice from the tents opening startled a gasp from Celesta's lips as she stopped trying to reach her dagger and instead twisted her head enough to see two men standing just inside the tent's opening." Not to mention my self." “I know these beaches better than any Greek...solider or not.” She tried to calm her ramped emotions as she spoke to the blond haired man who stood next to a dark haired man. “That may be true, but I know these men better than any Trojan...woman or not.” The Blond haired man said his tone amused as he turned to the dark hair man.” Where did she come from?” “My lord Odysseus ordered her to be brought to his tent, but the soldier that had her did not know where his tent was and therefore placed in yours.” The dark haired man informed him. “Tell him I will keep her safe.” The blond man said as the other nodded then left. “ So, I have a priestess of Apollo and the prince of Troy's female in my tent...” He knelt down beside Celesta who automatically flinched away.” The gods must be on the Greek's side.” his breath whispered across her face as he untied her hands as well as Briseis. “Keep me and let her go, she is only a priestess” Celesta placed herself between the man before her and Briseis her eyes meeting very beautiful blue eyes. Another time, another place...... Her mind whispered softly to her as she tried to remain brave in the face of this deadly, yet gorgeous man. “You care nothing of your own safety?” the man raised a brow at her as she held her ground steady protecting Briseis from him.” You protect the priestess at least you have courage. ” “She has nothing to offer you order your men to take her safely back to Troy.” Celesta could defend herself, but she could not do so if she were worried about Briseis's safety. “I will not leave you here with this killer.” Briseis cried as she held on to Celesta's upper arm. “You must.” Celesta hissed barely sparing her a glance over her shoulder as she wanted keep the man before in her eyes sight. “No!” Briseis stated firmly. “You both speak as if you had a choice.” the man said” You are my captives to do with as I wish.” his words sent a shiver a fear down Celesta's spine." As for the priestess having nothing to offer me she wears virgin robs that's more than enough." Celesta heard Briseis's shocked gasp as she felt herself prepare to fight this man before her before she would let him lay one hand on Briseis. He would have to kill her first.
