Tadachuvah shared the mirror with him. Both were bathed, clean and dressed. Tadachuvah was scraping at his wistful scraggly beard and Ravalo was lining his eyes with black. They switched instruments wordlessly a few moments later.
Ravalo was finished. He went to sit in Tadachuvah’s prize chair, to annoy him, and to wait. Tadachuvah came out of the bathroom a moment later, and Ravalo saw him tuck a packet of lubricant into his pocket. He smiled.
Tadachuvah opened the door, waited for him to go first. Ravalo deigned to obey.
Draven and Ronixo were waiting in the hall, with a pretty lad. Ravalo blinked at the boy a moment before recognizing him. Lero, that was his name. Second level, a ship captain’s son. Ravalo couldn’t remember if he was underage or not.
Tonight, it didn’t matter. All the children were to bed, having been unusually sleepy lately. Lero was awake. Ravalo hungered for him.
It wasn’t personal. He wanted Tadachuvah and Ronixo and Draven just as badly. It had ceased to be a want for anyone, particularly. Lero was there. It didn’t matter. Ravalo put an arm around the boy’s shoulders, gave him a secretive smile. Lero smiled back.
