CHAPTER 22: Bits and Pieces*********************************************************
AT THE TORETTO'S****************
Dom walks in the house and Mia runs up to him, "How's Eva, is she OK?" Mini and Lisa follow up with the same questions. Coco is sitting down holding on to Leon's hand waiting for Dom to answer. Vince and Jesse are standing up just staring at Dom. Letty is standing by the kitchen door looking calm and collected.
"She's fine, she's a trooper. Brian is gonna stay for the night and I'll be there early in the morning to bring her home" he looks over to Vince, Leon and Jesse and tells them he needs to talk to them alone. Mia gives him a look and he explains to her that right now he needs to speak to the guys only.
"Fine, we'll be upstairs, but don't you go do something stupid Dominic" Mia says walking up the stairs and the girls fol
"What's up Dom, anything we can do?" Leon says as Dom goes to the kitchen and grabs some Coronas for the guys. They follow him in the kitchen. Dom slowly explains everything that Eva had told him about the accident and everything Brian had found out about Blanca.
"But there's one thing I didn't want to tell Eva yet, not until she's feeling better" he reaches in his pocket and pulls out a piece of paper and places it on the table. Vince grabs it and begins to read it "One sibling down, one to go" Vince looks up at Dom with a confused look.
"What the fuck?" Vince says holding the paper in one hand and pointing at it with the other.
"I found it on Eva's car last night." Dom was aware that Eva had kept something from him, but he wasn't angry because now he understood that she only did it to protect him and his family.
"Why is she doing this to Eva? Jesse says, trying to figure it out.
"And if she wanted revenge why didn't she just kill Oscar?" Vince says while Leon still looks confused.
"I don't know, but that'sethiething I'm gonna need your help with Jesse. Find anything you can from when Eva and her brother lived in Jersey." Jesse nods and gets right on it.
"As for this Blanca character, she don't know who she fucking with" Dom's eyes are focused and Vince knows exactly what is going on in his head.
"Let's go and do some detective work of our own then" Vince gets up and gets his keys.
"Leon you stay here with the girls, make sure they don't leave the house. " he grabs his jacket and they are out the door.
*********************************** AT A WAREHOUSE**************
Vince pulls up with the lights off at an abandoned warehouse and parks.
"You sure this is it Dom?" Dom looks at Vince and back out the window.
"This is it" he says nodding, They get out and Dom goes to the trunk and gets a revolver and hands one to Vince.
They walk around the warehouse and find an open window, they climb inside and walk around looking at the cars inside.
"A chop shop" Vince says looking at Dom referring to the dismantled cars.
"And that's a laboratory" Dom adds pointing to another room and walking inside. There were tables with tons of white powder and cook up waiting to be packaged. Vince takes a little bit in his finger and tastes it, his tongue immediately goes numb. His face turns disgusted "Cocaine" he says spitting trying to get the taste out of his mouth. In the back of the room there is a huge vault.
"I wonder what they have in there?" Dom says as a huge smile runs across his face. Vince looks at him and knows they hit the jackpot. All of the sudden they can hear the warehouse doors open and they run to hide.
"You think we would of learned from the last time" Vince says and Dom shushes him. They can hear voices but not enough to make out the conversation. Dom moves in closer under the tables.
"Dom, where you going man, let's get out of here" Vince says quietly. Dom puts his hand up telling him to wait but Vince follows. Dom can now make out two figures and can hear them clearly. He can see a short black man and his voice confirmed it when he spoke.
"All I'm saying is you could of killed her, she's no good to us dead" the black man says as he walks back and forth.
"She's not dead, you fool! She's has more lives than a fucking cat" Dom knows it's a woman and she has a heavy accent. He moves in a little closer to get a look at her, and immediately knows it's Blanca. Anger takes over him but he knows this isn't the time or place, he has to do things smarter than that. He decides to stick around and hear more of the conversation.
"First you get Oscar locked up, we can't even get close to him to get any info out of him. Now you put Eva in a hospital were she is guarded by a cop. So what's your plan now?" the man looks desperate. Blanca simply gives out a mocking laugh.
"Your so fucking paranoid all the time, relax, I have everything under control. Killing Oscar would have been too easy.There are a few gentleman waiting for him when he reaches population" she has a evil grin that even gives Dom the shivers. That's what she looks like to him, Evil.
"As for Eva, I'm gonna do her the favor of bringing her sister up here for a visit..........". She pauses an looks at the man waiting for her to finish ".............piece by piece that is" he looks at her with an amused face.
"Your so evil Blanca" he says
"Evil is such a strong word, I prefer vengeful. I made a promise Trevor, a promise to my dying Leslie. That bitch killed her. Eva will suffer, I swear it" she had tears in her eyes but they never came down her face. Dom was finally putting the pieces together. He turned around and signaled for Vince to get out and followed. They got in the car and it finally hit him 'Did Eva actually kill that girl Blanca was talking about?'
Vince reads Dom's face.
"Hey man if she did do it, I'm sure she didn't have a choice." Vince says trying to convince him. Dom stays quiet and simply nods, he definitely needs to talk to Eva in the morning.
*************************AT THE TORETTO'S************************
"I still can't believe Mike's dead" Coco says as she sits on Mia's bed.
"He wasn't exactly a saint Coco" Mini says very coldly.
"Your right Mini, he wasn't but he didn't deserve to die like that either" Lisa spits out
"Why is Dom taking so long, I have a bad feeling about this" Mia says her voice breaking.
"Chill out girl, Dom and Vince can take care of themselves." Letty says as she puts her arm around Mia.
"Why would any one want to hurt Eva, I just can't see it" Mia keeps pushing her hair away from her face not because it bothered her but because she was nervous.
"I'm sure there is more to the story than Dom is telling. How about you girls any idea?" Letty says raising an eyebrow, she knew if anyone knew the truth it would be Eva's friends. They all stay silent for a second and look at each other. Lisa begins to say something but Mini cuts her off.
"Why don't we just wait until Eva gets home tomorrow and let her tell it" Mini's eyes are locked on Letty, they didn't like each other, that much was obvious.
"Right. Let her tell it" Letty gets up and walks towards Mini and walks past her going downstairs.
A little while later Vince and Dom arrive back home. Lettys is sitting on the sofa and is drinking a Corona. Vince calls the girls to come downstairs.
"Do you know what your doing?" Letys asks Dom, crossing her legs.
"I'm doing what I gotta do" Dom says surprised at her question. By this time Mia, Coco, Lisa and Mini are downstairs and Mini is talking to Vince but has an ear out Dom and Letty's conversation.
"I'm just saying, it looks to me like she's more trouble than what she's worth" Dom gives her a nasty look, he doesn't need her attitude right now. Before Dom can say anything Mini is in Letty's face.
"You know what, Eva is like a sister to me, and I'm not gonna let you talk about her like that" Mini is breathing hard and has her hands on her hips.
"Cut it out! Both of you" Dom says not wanting to sit through an argument and walks in the kitchen. But Letty continues.
"First of all I wasn't talking to you and I don't think I like your attitude." Letty's nostrils are flaring and Eva smiles.
"Well I was talking to you and I could give two shits if you like my attitude or not" this sends Letty into a frenzy and she swings at Mini catching her the jaw, just a s quick Mini turns around jumps on her, both falling on the floor Mini on top punching Letty on her face. Mia looks at both of them like they have lost their minds.
"Dom! get in here" Mia yells trying to separate the two girls, Vince jumps in and is grabbing Mini.
"Get off of me!" Mini yells trying to free herself from Vince's grip, she turns around and begins punching him. This leaves Letty free and she runs towads Mini but can only grab hold of her hair. Dom walk up to Letty calmy and grabs her by her arm.
"Let her go, Now!" Doms voice is threatning and Letty complies. He grabs her by the arm and leads her outside.
"What the fuck is wrong with you Let, were all family here"
"She was pushing my buttons Dom" she says hands waving in the air.
"Go home Letty!" Dom looks at her knowing she would be even more upset. Letty looks at him surprised.
"What? Are you kickig ME out? You actually chosing those skanks over ME?" her eyes are filled with fury.
"They are my family too Let, and don't you ever let me hear you call them that again" he turns around and goes inside slamming the door leaving Letty outside with her mouth still hanging open.
AT THE TORETTO'S****************
