Epilogue


Jack finished waving his hat about and put it back on his head with a grin. He was wearing his usual attire, but now in addition to it there was also a cloth slung around him from shoulder to hip across the left to right. “Barbossa!” he called out at the top of his lungs. “Thank you for readying my ship to leave! Enjoy your stay on that island, it’s my treat!” He walked along the edge of the Black Pearl’s portside proudly while watching the man curse. “One last thing!” Jack called out. “This is the day you will always remember as they day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!”

He gave one more salute before going back to the Pearl’s wheel, taking it in hand happily and turning it sharply right and away from the island, out towards open waters.

Jack Sparrow hummed to himself as he tied the wheel in place with a rope and took a seat against the rail of his ship, looking down as he cupped a hand to the cloth at his chest. He hummed a familiar pirate song gently while lifting his other hand and extending a finger.

Jack smiled as a tiny white hand reached out from the bundle of cloth and took hold of his; the little white fingers clutched his tightly and the bracelet of pearls twined twice around the petite wrist glinted in the moonlight. “Seed Pearl, eh?” he mumbled softly to the small bundle, as he broke out into a wider smile and looked up at the horizon, watching the new sunrise. “The sun always rises, too,” he replied even though nobody had said anything, a new and revitalized light in his eyes.
