Cunning

Well, this is close to done *fights urge to go and cry* and my AU fic is next on the list. I really don't think I've ever done so much preperation for a story before. Even this just gets made up as I go along.

Sandrine Black: I'm kicking! Kinda... I just get a rush from some of my reviews, that works, right? Anyway, no deffinate countdown yet, but just working on a touch of the back story to the plot, adding in another antagonist. Sorry, can't tell ya. ;) But expect it as soon as I finish this one, I'm working on them both now.

Datiye: The power of women over honourable men, so much fun. I like getting people to think, but I can't tell ya what Jack has planned, or it ruins the entire effect. And I'm planning on making it very Jack-ish.

Earen: I'm here!! *raises hand* I want to be remembered too! Jack's got something up his sleeve, and not another coin this time (though the look on Will's face when he saw the transformed Jack...)

Insane Pineapple: Heehee, I like having Elizabeth slap people, she's the kind of person that would. Amd you're kinda close with your guesses, need a bit more than just that though. And the infor was for an upcoming fic in this fandom. ;) It'll be out soon.

Jade: I've changed Jack's plan several times, and he's going to have to adapt. ;) I update fast, 'cause I don't like going outside in daylight, hurts me eyes.

Raz Gaiale: You're not actually getting to know what Jack's plan is until the very end. ;) Pluse, it's Captain Jack Sparrow! He never sticks to just one plan without modifing it a bit (or am I the only one that caught that throughout the movie?). And long reviews are good! Love long reviews. The more characters, and more like normal people, the more realistic the story, savvy?

ShadowSpirit: Jack has a very Jack-like plan planned.

Beth: Jack is being Jack

Nita: I'm glad you're on my side...*hands over a box of lollies* Heehee, I think I'll just stick with Ana and Elizabeth slapping Jack for now. For the doll, put the rum in his hand at he says 'Welcome to the Caribbean'. I think the stick up Norrington's ass is there 'cause he can't have Will. ;)

Christina C: Jack's full plan doesn't get revealed 'til the very end. And was that a cliffhanger? *looks confused* Unintentional evil! *hands a lolly, Jack stuffy, and get well balloon*
colecole: I didn't mean to wake your whole household! Really! *looks innocent before laughing* But that deffinately boosted my ego, right there. *huggles and lollies*

Jack stepped away from the bars, returning to his previous seat on the narrow stone ledge. "So, what brings you here, darlin'?"

Elizabeth frowned, "I want to know what you're up to. And why does Bootstrap hate you? I thought you were friends."

There was a general tension and silence as the four captive contemplated what to say to Elizabeth. Finally, Anamaria just sighed.

"Hard t' stay friends with someone that sleeps with 'is son."

"Thank you, for that lack of tact, Ana," Jack muttered, judging Elizabeth's reaction. Even Will seemed nervous to see what the young woman would do.

"'Liz?" Will tested.

The woman came out of what the others assumed was shock and smiled. "About time you got someone, Will! As long as you're happy, I'm happy. And I'm going to see what I can do about getting you back to sea."

Will smiled in relief, "Thanks, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth smiled, then turned to Jack, "And if you dare do anything to hurt Will, I'll hunt you down, and destroy every last bottle of your rum that I can find."

Jack's expression mocked surprise, "But why would you do that?"

"I'm serious, Mr. Sparrow-"

"~Captain~ Sparrow, darlin'."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes and turned to Anamaria in the cell immediately next to Will and Jack's. "You would be willing to keep Jack in line?"

Anamaria smirked, "Of course, Miss Elizabeth. Been doin' that with Will the whole time."

". An. And it's Mrs. Norrington, now. I plan on using that to my advantage on getting you out of here."

Jack jumped up, "Well, congratulations are in order."

There was a knock on the stone steps from the guards and Elizabeth sighed. "I only had a little time. I'll be back later on."

***********

Bootstrap nodded to the guards as he made his way to where Jack and Will were being kept with Anamaria and Gibbs. Wondering why a dog was holding the keys.

"The lass gave us the news, mate," Jack said from his seat on the little stone ledge when he spared a glance at Bootstrap. Will was settled on the floor against the ledge, his head against Jack's leg. The other cell had more activity; Anamaria pacing in anxious frustration while Gibbs settled in a new spot every so often.

"And what news would that be?"

Jack smiled, "Whatever news you want it to be, but she gave us some. Nice lass. Goin' t' be hell for any husband though."

Bootstrap frowned, his mind working quickly to think of how much Elizabeth might have already said and how much he could say without giving ack too much to work with. He sighed, throwing caution to the wind.

"Will is coming with me."

The group of prisoners didn't seem surprised, so Bootstrap ticked that off of his mental list. Anamaria had stopped pacing and Gibbs had settled.

Jack looked down at Will, "Are ye now?"

"Not that I was aware of," Will replied, making no move to get up.

"And if he doesn't, he gets the same fate as the rest of you," Bootstrap frowned, seeing Jack's hand make way to Will's hair. "And really, Jack. Would you sentence Will to death?"

That did it, and even will or Gibbs hadn't expected Jack to move so quickly. Not touching Will, Jack was up and at the bars of the cell in a matter of seconds. He had fisted one hand in Bootstrap's shirt and his eyes were narrowed in a look he had given many that had threatened him.

"One word and the guards come in, Jack. One word, and you die."

"You're a coward, Bill. And a selfish bastard. Do you really think I don't care about him? Where the hell were you when Barbossa had a knife at his throat? When he threatened to kill himself to save Elizabeth, and my crew? Where the bloody hell were you when your boy was growin'?"

Jack released Bootstrap's shirt, shoving him back slightly. "I love Will. And if you were any kind of father, you'd know this is his choice to make."

Will had stood now, putting a hand on Jack's shoulder. "And I've already made it. I stay with Jack."

"You condemn yourself," Bootstrap said. "Norrington has the execution set for dawn."

"What is it with that man and killing people first thing in th' morning?" Jack asked, seemingly good humour restored.

Bootstrap gave Jack a wry look, "With your list of crimes, Jack, don't expect it until noon."

Jack grinned, "True, but that's more just fun to make 'im feel all special he caught someone."

Sighing, Bootstrap turned his attention back to Will. "Are you really certain of this? You really love him?"

Will nodded, "Yes."

"An' don't bother askin' me, mate," Jack said. "You already know my answer."

Bootstrap nodded slowly, "Alright."

As the man turned to leave, he favoured Will a last look, "I'll return before dawn..."

"Our deal was clear, Captain Turner," Norrington said, not looking up from the papers he was working. "Unless your son agreed to leave the crew of the Black Pearl, he would be treated just as Sparrow and any other member was."

"Commodore-"

"You ask too much, Captain. One refuses your offer; you think two would accept?"

Bootstrap frowned, "Both would accept if they remained in each other's company."

Norrington shook his head, "I cannot allow it. They must be made examples of."

"You failed last time, and hundreds before you have tried to kill Jack Sparrow."

"Last time, your son was the one to aid him," Norrington's tone was clipped. "And there will be no such failure this time. You are dismissed, Captain. Good evening."

"...Good evening, Commodore," Bootstrap started to leave, noting that Norrington was back working on the reports. He saw the little pouch he had seen Will use before, wondering what it was doing here. Quickly grabbing it, Bootstrap left the office.

**************

Jak placed a quick kiss on Will's forehead, getting up as the guard approached. The guard unlocked the door and Jack held out his hands.

"I'm not goin' t' cause trouble, why bother with the irons?"

"You'd best keep silence, Mr. Sparrow. It's a miracle the Commodore agreed to see you in the first place."

"Mm-hm," Jack looked bored, taking another look to make sure Will, Anamaria, and Gibbs were asleep. "Boot- Eh, Captain Turner was called there too, right?"

The guard nodded, "They all agreed to hear you out."

"Good," Jack smiled. "Very good."
