Changed Man
Jesse ran his hands through Lora's hair and smiled, a lather forming by his fingertips.
"I have sand in places I didn't even know I had.." She muttered, with a laugh - leaning into him as they kissed quickly. Her soapy hands ran down his body, brushing the sand off him.
"I lyou, you, so much Lora.." Jesse said, seriously - watching as her hands moved on him. She looked up at him, smiling sweetly.
"I know you do baby. I love you too.."
He ran his hands down her stomach, lost in thought as she rinsed off.
-later that night-
It was darker then usual in his bedroom, the faint hum of the outside light illuminating his surroundings - sending bars over his skin like a prison cell. He was on his back, starting up at the ceiling with dark eyes; a small black velvet box in his palm.
He had planned on asking her to marry him before he even knew anything about the life they had created - but now he didn't know. He wanted to marry her, and be with her forever, but if he brought it up now she would surely think that he was only asking because of their situation.
Jesse sighed and replaced the engagement ring box under his side of the mattress, turning to face Lora.
The soft glow of the outside light made her look amazing beside him. Less than a year ago he was with a different girl every night, sleeping with girls without names or faces in his drunken state. His life was truly going down the drain before he met Lora - she was the reason he changed. Everything for her.
He brushed away the hair on her cheek and smiled, placing his lips against her forehead.
"I love you, baby."
Lora's lips formed a smile in her sleep as she turned, pulling the covers over her exposed body. Jesse kissed her forehead again and slipped silently from the bed, disappearing down the hall.
