You'll be fine
Screams, wings moving over her, squeaks and clicks and noises of predators.
One by one they disappear. All eaten. She can feel them diving at them from outside the lights.
Wings, louder then the others. Looking up. A hatchet shaped head diving for her. Screaming….
She woke screaming, head turning this way and that as she looked around. He was there in an instant. Around him was a fog, a shape of a woman, then nothing as he crossed the room to where she lay in the bed.
The vision of the monsters from her dream haunted her, and she shuddered. As he crossed the room to the bed, she wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her head in his shoulder. He didn’t react at first, but after a moment he put his arms around her.
She clung to him for a while, until the visions from her dream disappeared, and then sat back.
“Sorry. That dream….” She shuddered, but didn’t let herself go back there. She was surprised when he just shrugged.
“You can go back to whatever you were doing.” She wrapped her arms around her legs, turning her side towards him, she wasn’t going to let him toy with her, not now.
He didn’t move, sitting there on the bed next to her. After a moment, he pulled her close to him, making her lie down on the bed with him.
She stiffened against him, trying to pull away. He refused to let her go, and she turned towards him.
His eyes were closed, making it clear he had no intention of going anywhere, and she sighed. Slowly she closed her own eyes, trying to get some rest, and slept. The dreams didn’t return.
They reached the other ship uneventfully, and brought a man on board. He didn’t look too good, like he’d been without food for days, so they set him up in the cryopod, the only one in the ship.
“Something about him.” Kylie muttered as she signed off from letting Vaako know they’d found him.
Riddick shrugged and left the cabin.
They had almost made it back to the Necropolis, and quicker then they expected. Kylie was sitting and doing some last minute stuff with the machines when she heard loud thumping from back in the cryochamber.
She frowned, setting the ship on autopilot, and headed to the back. She drew her knife from her boot as she walked.
The door to the chamber was part way open, and she peeked her head in to see Riddick and the man fighting.
’Shit, he’s flipping out, woke up early.’ She thought to herself, almost putting the knife away before she heard what the man said.
“Thought you’d get away with it, murderer. When I finish you, I’ll take this ship and her, and let you watch what I do to her. I like to think Johns will be proud when I am done with both of you.”
Riddick snarled, punching the man, but he managed to get back up, and they circled each other.
Kylie held her knife, eyes narrowed, waiting for her chance. He tried to yell, but couldn’t do it in time, as Kylie charged from behind the door and at the other man. She raised her knife over her head, but he was faster. His knife was buried in her stomach, and her hand fell, only scratching his face.
She staggered back, eyes wide in pain and surprise. She was able to see Riddick launch himself at the man, pummeling him, and finally slitting his throat.
She was bleeding, her hands over the knife.
“Don’t..pull it out..” She whispered, breathing shallow. His eyes were actually worried, and she managed a weak smile.
“We’re close, you’ll be fine.”
“I know.” She raised a weak hand and touched his cheek as he pulled her head onto his lap. She left a bloody smear across his face as she closed her eyes and her hand fell to the side.
