Ayeme

Chapter 24: Ayeme

They told her to meet them at the same spot from the night before; Erica makes her way hurriedly down the street. She waits no more than 10 minutes when the roar of motorcycles approaches her. *OK be cool* she reminds herself. The first girl gets off her bike and removes her helmet. A long mane of black shinny hair drops down to her waist, slanted blue eyes, slim body and a "˜fuck you' stare ~ Erica almost has a crush on her.
Ayeme is the leader of her "˜pack' as she calls them and she's only about two years older than Erica is. Of course her family is powerful and she has more money than she can count which helps her social status.

"Hey Erica, you ready to roll with us or what?" she questions signaling to her bike and looking at another Asian kid that's with her "You can ride with me if you want" she maintains. Erica ponders for a sec ~ bikes make the butterflies in her stomach flutter, but she's in a different side of the world, she has to take chances. She nods and the girl gives her a helmet. Throwing her leg around the motorcycle Erica holds on tight as she takes off and the rest follow. Once at the racing spot Erica notices how many people are actually with Ayeme. She notices most of them have a signature tattoo, the same one that is on the cars and motorcycles. It looks like a T on fire, with a dragon in the background. Erica asks her what the T stood for, but Ayeme responds with "You'll know soon enough" the words didn't come off as a threat but more of a warning ~ a warning for what? She'd find out sooner or later.
Ayeme signals for the race to begin, she winks to Erica and mounts her bike to the start up line. The bikes rev up their engines as an Asian guy raises his hands in the air, quickly dropping them down. The bikes are off in a flash; Ayeme's bike does a Wheelie on take off, she easily makes her way in front of the others, crossing the finish line. Erica finds herself cheering for her and jumping up and down with the others. Ayeme turns around; she stops getting off her bike and takes off the helmet. A large man hands her the $10,000 she just won. Erica can't help it, but her mouth drops open ~ that's a lot of money for one race.

"Let's party!" Ayeme states, but the sound of helicopters and sirens break the celebration.

"Let's get out of here" Ayeme runs for her bike. Erica gets confused by the commotion and freezes in her spot ~ she'd lost Ayeme. Where is she? Before she can panic Ayeme pulls up next to her and pulls her on.

"Hold on kid" she yells as she screeches out of there. A squad car begins to tail her. Ayeme occasionally glances back to see if the cop is still there. She sees the highway entrance and knows it's her only chance. Ayeme takes a sharp turn and Erica's leg losses grip, sliding off the side hitting the muffler. Erica feels the sting of her skin bng bng but she recovers quickly, she doesn't lose her grip on Ayeme. As they enter the highway Ayeme ducks down and Erica knows to do the same. Erica wonders how fast they are going, it feels like if they'd hit a bump they would go in the air flying out of control. Needless to say Ayeme effortlessly outruns the cops. Without stopping she makes her way across town. Erica marvels as they go under an Asian archway and the rest of the bikers are already there waiting. They get off the bikes and Ayeme turns to Erica.

"Welcome to Little Saigon." She wryly smiles.
"That was sooo hot! Where did you learn to drive a bike like that?" Erica's obvious enthusiasm showing.

"My brother Johnny taught me. Maybe I can teach you someday" an honest smile crosses her face.

"Hell yeah!" Erica shouts and Ayeme laughs. The crowd noticeably stays silent as a man approaches them.

"Where the fuck were you Ayeme?" he hisses. Ayeme rolls her eyes at the man. Then takes Erica by her arm and walks away from him. "Damn it Ayeme, don't walk away from me"

"Jeez, will you give me a brake Lance, I was racing OK? Alright?" Ayeme continues to drag Erica away from the crowd.

"Who's that?" Erica curiously asks.

"My stupid cousin. He's so fucking uptight all the time." They make their way inside the restaurant were a party is being held. Lance stands there watching Ayeme walk away. The girls she's with reminds him of some one ~ but who?
