Chapter Twenty-Five
Xanatos took a last look in the floor length mirror to assure himself that the clothes he’d picked made him look his best. He was determined to remind Obi-Wan what he’d be missing if he was foolish enough to leave with the Jedi. A part of him believed his lover’s words and yet he prayed the younger man was simply trying to frighten him into giving in. Nodding in approval at the roguish image he reflected, he left his rooms and headed toward the wing where Obi-Wan and the Jedi were residing.
He was determined to sort things out so they could present a united front to the departing Jedi. Nothing would make him happier than to know Jinn was forced to return to the Temple to report to the Council about how his two fallen apprentices were alive, together, and madly in love. He would give anything to see the expressions on their collective faces, especially his childhood friends. Windu had always been vocal about his aversion to same sex relationships. Xanatos had taken great joy in taunting his friend by offering to replace the huge stick up his ass with something much more pleasurable.
The smile that had curved his lips at the memory vanished as he rounded the corner and the door to Chun’s room slid open. Something urged him to duck out of the way mere seconds before a familiar voice spoke.
“Enough. I need to go pack my belongings before the ship leaves.”
The hint of laughter coloring the dulcet tones set his nerves on edge, as did the sound of kissing that followed. Careful to mask his presence from the two men, he cautiously peered around the corner and saw something that turned his blood cold. Through a red haze he watched the two men devour one another’s mouths as they rubbed their lower bodies together. Arms wrapped around one another they were oblivious to their incensed audience.
Bruck pulled back far enough to gaze into Obi-Wan’s eyes with open love and adoration. “I can’t believe you’re really coming with us to Coruscant. I was sure you’d change your mind and stay here.”
“Xan has made it clear he has little use for me. I can’t live my life in uncertainty, never knowing from day-to-day where I stand.” Obi-Wan ran a caressing hand across the wide sun-browned chest bared to his admiring gaze. “You understand me and my needs.”
Xanatos hand dropped down to rest against the hilt of his ‘saber as he was forced to watch as the man he loved stretched in order to gnaw on the Jedi’s throat. Bruck’s head fell back, eyes shut and a pleasured moan rumbling in his throat as Obi-Wan gifted him with a large love bite. As the other man took a step back in order to view his handy work, Bruck opened his eyes and lifted a hand that trembled, fingers lightly ghosting over Obi-Wan’s face.
“Force! Do you have any idea just how beautiful you are, Obi?”
A soft self-conscious chuckle greeted the query before Obi-Wan placed a last kiss against his lips. “I’ll see you shortly.”
Bruck watched the delightful sway of a well rounded backside encased in dark leather, oblivious to their seething audience. So besotted by the fallen Jedi, he failed to sense the sudden surge in the Darkside until it was too late. A hand was suddenly wrapped around his throat as he was propelled back into his room. As the door was motioned shut with the Force, he found himself slammed against the wall, a pale face twisted with rage pressed close.
“You didn’t waste any time did you, Chun?”
Eyes bulging from lack of air, the young Jedi clawed uselessly at the iron grip around his neck. “Your fault…Not mine.”
Xanatos lips pulled back from his teeth in a snarl. “Eager to die are you?”
Mouth opening and closing, Bruck was unable to force either words or air past a constricted airway. Xanatos was sorely tempted to increase the pressure and snap the thick neck like a twig. His inner voice urged caution, warning him of the danger inherent in following through with his desire. The last thing Offworld needed was for the Jedi to launch an investigation into his business dealings. He relaxed his grip which allowed Bruck to inhale deep gulps of much needed air.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now.”
Eyes locking with the cold pools of blue ice, the young Jedi formed his words carefully. “Because of his past he requires unconditional love and understanding. You keep him at a safe distance and yet expect him to be open and give all of himself without question. It’s your own pride and arrogance that has pushed him away.”
Enraged, Xanatos pulled him away from the wall, only to slam him back with alarming force. Head bouncing off the unforgiving duracrete, Bruck gasped in pain as spots danced before his eyes.
“He doesn’t love you, Chun. You’re just as plaything for him to stick his cock in.” A wicked smirk twisted Xanatos lips as the barbs caused the younger man to flinch in pain. “He’ll use you for as long as you amuse him and once he grows bored, and he will, he’ll leave you without a second thought and come back to me.”
Defiance gleamed in the Jedi’s pale blue eyes for the first time, his square jaw firming with resolve. “I don’t care. I love him and welcome whatever chance I get to prove it to him. That’s the difference between us, deCrion. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to help him heal, while you can’t put aside your massive ego long enough to.”
Shocked silence was quickly followed by the familiar hiss of a light saber. The crimson glow of the blade reflected in eyes now almost pitch black from drawing on Darkside energies. Sweat beaded Bruck’s forehead but he remained steadfast, his gaze never wavering from the fallen Jedi’s as he awaited whatever fate the Force decided. Faced with the younger man’s unwavering love for Obi-Wan, Xanatos felt the anger drain from him. Deactivating his weapon he removed the hand around the younger man’s neck, allowing him to drop to the ground.
“I don’t know which of us is the bigger fool for loving him,” he muttered, fingers briefly touching the now visible love bite.
Bruck rubbed his aching neck as he watched Xanatos spin around and stride toward the door. “Two words is all it would take to keep him here.”
The fallen Jedi stopped in the open doorway, back tense as he waited for Bruck to continue.
“Two little words, Xanatos and you have the man you love.”
Reluctance coated the question. “What words?”
“Stay, please,” Bruck shared quietly.
There was no further response as Xanatos strode from the room.
