At The Same Time
CHAPTER 27: AT THE SAME TIME
****************************************************
They get dressed and by 9:30 PM are on their way to the club. Once there, the lights are shinning and the bass of the music can be heard outside. The building looks like and old warehouse or factory. Eva parks the car and they walk to the line which is considerable short since it was still early. Eva is surprised by how many people her little sister knows, even the bouncers. They walk in the club like nothing, without showing ID's or paying. Erica quickly finds her way to a group of her friends sitting at a table and introduces Eva to everyone.
"Eve, this is Lisandra, Justin, Geeny, Liz, Jay, and KC" she nods, ing ing she'd forget half of those names by the end of the night. Eva excuses her self, goes to the bar and orders a Thug Passion. She's sitting there contemplating her sister dancing with her friends when her phone begins vibrating. It's a LA area code, she makes her way to the bathroom where the music isn't so loud and answers it.
"Yeah?" she doesn't know who it's going to be this time.
"Eva, it's Letty, we need to talk" she says rushing the words out.
"Can't it wait until I get home Letty?" Eva sounds frustrated, a jealousy fit from Letty is something she definitely does not need.
"No it can't wait, that's why I called you." her always reliable attitude seeping through.
"Fine, but make it quick"
*************************************** AT GLORIAS' HOME********************
Gloria is tired and decides she better go downstairs and lock up before going to bed. She heads downstairs and everything is dark, it sends shivers through her body. The girls had most likely turned the lights off when they left, yet there was something uneasy about the darkness. When she reaches the bottom of the stairs she immediately locks the front door and looks out the window. She goes to flick the light on but nothing, she tries again but no light. She makes her way to the kitchen to lock the back door and freezes when she sees it's wide open. Her heart begins to beat fast, she tries to calm herself. She grabs a butcher knife from the island and closes the door locking it, also looking out the window. She tuns around and makes her way back upstairs, she enters her room, her lights are off now as well. Gloria sits on the bed and picks up the phone to call Eva........the line is dead! She looks up and feels a presence in the room, a slow whimper escapes her as the figure moves into the moon light.
*****************************OUTSIDE GLORIAS HOUSE*************************
"This is it Dom, 25 Bryant St." Vince holds the piece of paper up with the directions Lisa gave them. Dom pulls over and they get out.
"Looks like no one is home" Dom looks at his watch, it's 10:45pm
"Maybe their asleep" Vince says reading Dom's mind.
"I'm gonna call her" Dom flips open up his cell and uses his voice command "Eva".
*******************************AT THE EDGE*************************
"OK, listen up, Dom is on his way to Jersey looking for you" Letty voices.
"WHAT? How do you know?" this would definitely complicate things. Eva's call waiting begins to beep but she ignores it, she needs to hear what Letty has to say.
"Just trust me on this one alright, your little girlfriend spilled the beans to Dom and knowing him the way I do he's probably already there" Letty actually sounds concerned.
"Shit, Shit, Shit!. Why are you telling me this?" it dawns on her about their last conversation.
"The truth is I care about Dom. I know he loves you and I respect that. But nonetheless I don't want anything bad to happen to him or to Vince. Your in way over your head here Eva, be careful" Letty hangs up leaving Eva with a new found respect for Letty.
********************************GLORIAS HOUSE*************************
"Hello Mrs. Santiago" Trevor stands there with a blade in his hand, Gloria can see iine ine in the poorly lit room.
"Who are you? Get out of my home" she tries to keep the courage in her voice.
"I'm just a messenger, but the message isn't for you, it's for your little whore of a daughter. I'm gonna make an example out of you" he rushes at her with the blade and Gloria screams as she tries to fight him off.
*****************************************OUTSIDE**********************************
"DAMN!, she doesn't pick up!" Dom's patience for Eva was wearing thin.
"I say we just wait for her here" Vince sits on the hood of the car.
"Oh great so when she comes home, she sees me sitting in front of her house like a stalker" Dom rubs his head.
"I hate to brake it to you bro, but you just travel across the country, looking for her, if that's not being a stalker, I don't know what is" they're aboo lao laugh when they hear a scream form inside Eva's mothers house. Dom doesn't even look over to Vince, he sprints towards the house.
***********************************INSIDE GLORIA'S HOUSE*************************
Gloria swings at him trying to get him off of her. Trevor jumps on her and she falls back on the bed, all she can see is his arms swinging back at her as he punches her over and over, she feels like her arms are on fire. She feels the sheets under her become soiled with her blood. It takes her a while to realize he is not punching her, but cutting her with the blade. The pain slowly overtakes her and she feels her body becoming numb from the brutal, repetitive attacks. All Gloria can do is pray in silence. This was it she thinks, she was never going to see her daughters again. She didn't want her babies to find her like this, her body cut up and blood all over. A loud crash is heard and Trevor is off of her in a flash, she can hear a mans voice and with what little strength she has left tries to get off the bed. Vince quickly grabs Gloria and heads downstairs, she sees a big, bald headed guy drag Trevor outside. Dom is on Trevor like white on rice, he's pounding him so hard his knuckles are raw. He stops when Trevor stops fighting him back, because he's unconscious. Vince calls 911 and the police arrive 15 minutes later. The EMT's work on her right away, they give her oxygen and are preparing to put her in the ambulance. Dom walks up to her, before he can introduce himself she grabs his hand and smiles.
"Thank you. You saved my life" her eyes show strength, the same strength he sees in Eva's eyes. Dom knows she going to be just fine.
"Now I know where Eva gets her fire from" Dom says. Gloria smiles and caresses his face.
"Your Dominic aren't you?, My Evita's love" Dom look downs and smiles childishly.
"Yes Mam, Where can I find Eva?" Dom needs to get to her ASAP.
"She went with Erica to this club in Downtown called 'The Edge'............ don't let anything happen to my babies, please!" the EMT's take her in and sound off their alarms. Dom looks at the ambulance drive away and whispers to himself "I won't, I promise".
Vince pulls up next to Dom and says "Let's roll man" Dom turns to the police officer who has Trevor in custody and asks him for directions to the club, he jumps in the car and they make their way to 'The Edge'.
