Chapter 28:
A/N: Sorry it’s been a few days since my last update, but here it is. Keep the feedback coming it is greatly appreciated! Jack and Elizabeth arrive in the port of Mangalore, India.
Jack couldn’t seem to keep the smile off his face as he steered the Pearl into the familiar port of Mangalore, India. His childhood home, it had been so long since he had been there last. Since he was fifteen and running away to be more specific. Until Jack had decided to up and run from his childhood home he had lived with his grandparents and his aunt. And of course his father when he could be bothered to be around that is. Jack gave the order for the anchor to be dropped and then glanced around at the town that stood before him. From what he could tell it didn’t look like things had changed all that much since he had been gone. He could still see the military fort that stood a short distance from the pier on the edge of the cliff that overlooked the bay. He tilted his head as he realized how much that reminded him of Port Royal. Elizabeth’s hand on his shoulder drew his attention away from Mangalore. Jack smiled down at her as he slipped his arm around her waist.
“We’re here love.”
“India?”
“Aye, Mangalore t’ be more exact.”
“This was your home?”
“It was. Shall we go ashore love?”
“Yes, just let me gather a few things.”
Jack watched her hurry back into their cabin. Elizabeth grabbed the burlap sack and stuffed a change of fresh clothes for herself and then a few of Jacob’s diapers and another blanket for him. She ran to the door and peeked out seeing Gibbs.
“Mr. Gibbs?”
“Miss Elizabeth?”
“Could you take this bag for me and bring up to the wheel deck where Jack is?”
“Aye Miss Elizabeth.”
Gibbs took the burlap sack from her and headed towards the wheel deck. When he set the bag down at Jack’s feet Jack gave him a confused stare.
“What the bloody hell is that Gibbs?”
“Miss Elizabeth told me t’ bring it t’ ye sir.”
“Ah. Never mind then. Thank ye Gibbs.”
“Yer welcome Captain.”
Elizabeth picked Jacob up from his cradle and left the cabin to join Jack back at the helm.
“Okay I’m ready to go.”
“I can see that. What’s in the bag love?”
“Just a few things.”
“Oh. Well then….let’s go ashore.”
Gibbs made the gangplank ready for them to walk onto the pier. Jack turned back to give his orders to Gibbs.
“Jus’ see t’ it that nobody gets in any trouble savvy? Yer in charge while m’ gone Gibbs.”
“Aye sir.”
Jack then turned back to face Elizabeth and rested his hand on the small of her back as they began walking down the pier towards the town.
“Jack?”
“Hmm?”
“Where will we stay?”
“With me grandparents at their estate.”
“Their estate?”
“Aye love, they have a grand house upon the cliff opposite the military fort. It’s made of white stone that’s been polished an’ has a large iron gate surrounding the property.”
“How do you know they still live there?”
“Uh….I don’t….m’ jus’ assuming love.”
They stayed silent for the remainder of the journey to the large white stone mansion that was perched upon the cliff. When they arrived at the towering iron gate they were stopped by a couple of guards who immediately pointed their rifles at them.
“State your name and business here sir!”
“M’ name is Jack Sparrow an’ this is my wife Elizabeth an’ our son Jacob. M’ here t’ see m’ grandparents, Hayden an’ Phoebe Blake.”
“Are the Lord and Lady Blake expecting you?”
“No, but as I said, m’ their grandson.”
“Right, this way then.”
The guards turned and opened the iron gate and one of them led Jack and Elizabeth up the long cobblestone walkway towards the large white stone mansion. There were many hedges and flowers that decorated the landscape of the property surrounding the mansion. The guard escorted them onto the grand front porch of the mansion and knocked on the large wooden doors that were painted black and had large and very ornate silver handles on them. Soon a butler opened the door looking down his nose at them.
“Yes?”
“The Lord and Lady Blake’s grandson, Mr. Jack Sparrow is here.”
Jack bit his tongue to keep from correcting the soldier by stating that he was in fact Captain Jack Sparrow and not Mr. Jack Sparrow. The butler stepped aside and gestured for them to come inside. Jack ushered Elizabeth in ahead of him before walking into the mansion behind her.
“Lord and Lady Blake are in the parlor having tea. Right this way please.”
Jack and Elizabeth followed the butler down a grand hallway until they came to a room with two wooden doors that were also painted black like the ones that led them into the house were. They also had the same silver handles on them. The butler opened the doors and announced them.
“Mr. Jack Sparrow and his wife are here to see you Lord Blake.”
An elderly man with white hair and brown eyes looked up from the book that he had been reading and glanced past the butler. He pushed his glasses up further onto his nose before smiling when he recognized his grandson Jack. Then he pushed himself out of the chair and gestured for Jack and Elizabeth to come into the room.
“Jackie boy!”
“Grandfather!”
Jack guided Elizabeth into the room and then crossed the room to hug his grandfather. Elizabeth smiled as she watched Jack hugging his grandfather. Hayden Blake was a smaller man than Jack was, maybe about five foot six inches tall and his hair was all white and it stuck out everywhere. His eyes were a warm brown, the color of brandy and his smile was wide and genuine. She shifted her gaze to the elderly woman who sat on the sofa to her left. She was small with silvery white hair that was fashioned into a braided bun at the nape of her neck. Her eyes were a beautiful green and she also wore glasses. She looked up from her knitting and smiled at Elizabeth.
“Have a seat dear, you must be exhausted taking care of that little one.”
“Oh yes, thank you.”
Elizabeth took a seat on the sofa next to her and shifted Jacob in her lap carefully.
“My what a pretty young woman you are.”
“Thank you.”
“What’s your name dear?”
“My name is Elizabeth, Elizabeth Sparrow. I’m Jack’s wife, and this is our son Jacob.”
“Oh Jackie, you finally got married?”
Jack turned around to face them smiling at his grandmother.
“Yes Nana, I finally got married.”
“How wonderful! I’m Phoebe Blake, Jack’s grandmother. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“It’s very nice to meet you Phoebe.”
“Oh nonsense, call me Nana, it’s what Jackie calls me.”
“Alright, Nana.”
“Oh and what a beautiful baby boy. He looks just like Jackie!”
“Yes, Jacob looks more like Jack every day that passes. Would you like to hold him?”
“Oh yes, that would be wonderful.”
Elizabeth carefully handed Jacob over to Phoebe. He fussed a little before nestling into Phoebe’s arms comfortably. Elizabeth smiled up at Jack who had sat down at the small table in the corner with his grandfather to play chess.
“So Jackie, why have you really come back to Mangalore?”
“Can’t I jus’ want t’ catch up with me Grandfather an’ Nana?”
“You haven’t been back since you were a boy Jackie.”
“Alright, m’ in trouble Grandfather.”
“What kind of trouble?”
“M’ a wanted man in Port Royal.”
“Wanted by who Jackie?”
“The Royal Navy.”
“Pirating no doubt?”
“Aye. An’ me wife.”
“What does she have to do with your troubles?”
“She’s the Governor of Port Royal’s daughter.”
“Ah, yes I can see how that might complicate matters for you.”
“So we were hoping we could stay a while?”
“As long as you need to Jackie.”
“Thanks Grandfather.”
Jack and Hayden spent the evening playing chess while Elizabeth and Phoebe fussed over Jacob and gossiped about this and that over tea and lemon cake. At about ten that night the butler came in to clean up the tea and take away what was left of the lemon cake on a tray. Then Phoebe and Hayden showed Jack and Elizabeth upstairs to one of the guest rooms that had been prepared for them. After saying goodnight Jack shut the door to his and Elizabeth’s room. He smiled as he watched Elizabeth placing Jacob in the small cradle that was at the foot of their large four poster bed. After she had rocked Jacob to sleep she walked over to the French doors and opened them walking out onto the terrace. Jack followed her slipping his arms around her waist as he stood behind her. They looked up into the sky. It was dark with only a few stars shining and no moon was out at all. Down below they could barely make out the shadow of the Pearl docked in the harbor along with the other ships.
“What’s on yer mind love?”
“Are we going to be okay Jack?”
“Course we will darling.”
“When you say it I can almost completely believe it.”
“I give me word that nothing will happen t’ ye or Jacob.”
She turned to face Jack wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I love you Jack Sparrow, with all my heart.”
“I love ye too Elizabeth Sparrow.”
She leaned up to kiss him and sighed into his mouth when she felt him pull her closer against his chiseled body. Then he pulled back to look down at her. He brushed a strand of tawny hair away from her face before he spoke.
“Let’s get t’ bed love.”
“Lead the way husband.”
Without warning Jack swept Elizabeth up into his arms eliciting a small yelp from her as he turned and walked back into their room. Walking over to the bed he gently set her down and then went to close the French doors. Jack watched as Elizabeth began stripping out of her clothes. When she was completely naked she reached for the burlap bag but he stopped her.
“Jack?”
“Stay undressed.”
“What for?”
“I want t’ feel yer skin against mine while we sleep love.”
“Is that the only reason you want me naked?”
“An’ jus’ incase I feel the need t’ get frisky sometime during the night.”
She giggled and then crawled into bed naked. She watched as Jack stripped off his clothes and joined her beneath the sheets just as naked as she was. He pulled her into his arms smiling as she laid her head against his broad chest.
“Goodnight Jack.”
“Night Lizbeth.”
A/N: I know….opportunity for some hot sex between Jack and Elzabeth. Not to worry, I’ll get to it in the next chapter! Read and review please!
