Fighting back

She woke up to the sky, past a set of metal bars. She groaned, and looked around. She was in a large cage of some sort, with other women. She recognized most of them as being from the small settlement, but there were a few others that she didn’t know.

A young woman knelt by her and looked at her leg. “Miss Kylie, your leg, are you okay?”

“I’ll be fine Amy, how long have I been here?”

“I think it’s only been a few hours, right after they gave us a meal. That big guy, isn’t that the man who helped you save us back when we got lost?”

Kylie nodded and stood, testing her leg. The spike hadn’t gone that deep, her muscle was fine. It wouldn’t take long for the cut to heal. She looked around. Inside the large cage with her was the women, and she could see a cage directly across from them with all of the children from the small town. She sighed, as she realized that they must have killed the men who were of fighting age.

“Okay, how much longer are they going to stay here?” Kylie looked at Amy.

“Not sure, but we’ve been here for like four days already, and they said a week, two at the most. They said something about fixing a few things on the ship.”

Kylie looked in the direction Amy pointed. There was a ship that was large enough to hold a lot of cargo, probably filled with cryochambers and other ways to transport slaves.

She started to examine their cage, and found it locked tightly. It was all four sides, including bars that were buried a few inches below the surface of the soil.

As she leaned against the bars in a corner of the cage, she could hear snarling and teeth snapping and smiled. Least the hounds would give them a run for their money. They wouldn’t kill them, and whatever they did do to them would only be temporary, Misty and Scar were stronger then the slavers.

She wasn’t sure what she could do though, she sighed and started searching her pockets for anything useful. They had taken her knife when they had her knocked out, so that was out of the question. She sighed, pulling out a hair band.

”How often do they come over here to check on you?”

“Only when they feed us, and only the one guy has the key.”

Kylie nodded, and sat down, starting to tear the leg of her pants off, as they had already been ruined, and used them to clean the wound. She had a plan and she hoped that it would work. She had no idea where Kyra and Vaako were, or why it was taking them so long, and she also had no idea what Riddick was up to, but she wasn’t going to wait in any case. She had to get these people out of there before they decided it was time to move on to another planet.

“Amy, no matter what happens, trust me.” She whispered to her and the nod from the girl was enough to know she would.

She had to wait another hour, but when the man came with the food, she waited for the others to get theirs before walking up to him.

“Hey there big boy.” She suppressed a shudder, as she could smell the man. He was disgusting, but he would do for what she had in mind. Odds were that he hadn’t been with a woman in a while, if only because of his lousy hygiene, so it might work really well.

”Whatcha want?”

”A better place to sleep, I’m willing to….trade for one…..what do you say?” She leaned forward, allowing the partially unzipped flight jacket she wore fall open a little further, giving him a view down the neck of her shirt. She ran a finger down his chest. “Hmm?”

He looked exactly where she had wanted him to. “Umm..sure…..I got a bed, com’on.”

She smiled, and draped her arm over his shoulder, letting him lead her to his bunk. She tried her best to ignore his groping hands as she shut the door behind them. He took off his clothes, and lay back on his bed as she crossed the room and climbed up on top of him. She took his hands in hers and raised them over his head.

“Now hold onto that.” She placed his hands on the bed frame. As he tightened his fingers around the metal there, she sat up, raising her hands over her head. Before he could react, she had entwined them into a fist and brought it down with all her strength on his head, knocking him out cold.

Quickly she tied him up with his own belt, tightening it on the bed frame, and gagging him with a pillowcase, tying it around his mouth with some more cloth she had managed to scrounge up.

Satisfied he wasn’t going anywhere for a while, she searched through his clothes, and found the key. The tricky part was sneaking back outside, but she knew she had to do it.

She opened the door a crack and peered out into the hallway. Looking both ways, she didn’t see anyone, so she stepped out. As she made her way toward the way she had come in, she stuck to the shadows.

She had made it within sight of the door when a yell came from behind her. It was the man who she had tricked and tied up.

“There she is, get her!”

She started to run to the door, but only a few steps from it, someone hit her, and hit her hard. She fell, the key sliding from her hand to the ground outside as it skidded across the floor.

“NO!” She screamed as she was lifted up by two men, their fingers digging into her arms.

”Looks like we’ll have to teach you who’s in charge here.” The leader of the group stood in front of her, and standing behind him, Riddick.

With a snarl of defiance, she spat at him, hitting his face, and kicked, nailing one of the men beside her in the leg hard enough to break the bone. She tried to wiggle free from the other man’s grasp, but he held on even tighter.

“A fighter, she’ll be a fun one to break.” The leader wiped his face, and motioned to the man holding Kylie. “Take her to the training room. You can help, the first time is always memorable.”

The group of men laughed, and even Riddick gave a harsh chuckle. Seeing him do that, Kylie struggled even more, until she felt a needle pierce her skin, drugs flooding her system and knocking her out again.
