Though I have borrowed the names of some of the characters, and some spells from Charmed, this is mostly my own creation, my own idea, and i make no profit from it.
Power Up
I was barely in he house before my mom was there holding my ringing cell phone out to me. “It’s Tristan.” She gave it to me and whaled on my dad all the way upstairs. “We’ll be down in the kitchen in a minute honey. Caleb are you out of your mind…”
“Cherish Danvers, You have got to stop waking me up at all hours of the night.” Tristan barked at me and I rolled my eyes. “Well then turn it to a different channel. Wake up the others and ward the house.” The dads had buried stones on the corners of the property, powered them, all the guys had to do was flip the magical switch.
“Huh? Why?”
“NOW!” I snapped and he cursed, followed by the sound of him banging on the wall. “Cherish says wake up Riley.”
“Tell her to get fucked.” I heard his muffled shout back. “Riley says to get fucked. But I don’t want to know about it.” I made a face. “I wouldn’t tell you about it.” I heard him roar for Peyton and an answering shout, “WHAT?”
“Wake the fuck up, Cherish says we need to ward the house.” And then I think he was talking to me. “So, anytime now, we‘re warding the house at…one a.m. because why?”
“Bad Shadow thingy after Peyton and possibly your fine ass.”
Druex growled at me and I flipped him off. His brows shot up incredulously. Jerk. “What was that?”
“I got a dog.” Druex curled his lip but was quiet. “Your mom hates dogs.”
“I’m starting to see why. Everybody up yet?”
“Riley’s still moaning around his room, something about whipped cream.”
“Perhaps if you tell him he might die if he doesn’t hurry up?”
“Cherish says your going to die Riley.”
“Yeah, yeah, promises.”
I heard him grumbling and I guess he took Tristan’s phone from him. “Cherish, babe, this better be good. I was dreaming about Carmen Electra in a bathtub full of whipped cream.”
I made a face. “Ugh, gross. I don’t want to hear about that.”
“Right, sorry. Virgin ears. So, hows things?” He said with a fake chipper tone. “Oh you know,” I said and started to walk back up to my room. “I helped out Druex at his bar by banishing some evil, Shadow thing. Found a secret room in the colony house where my great however many times grandfather kept a werewolf. I am part werewolf, and there was a bunch of insane bats outside a few minutes ago, which I blew up, and now the big bad Shadow thing is possibly headed your way.”
Silence on the other end of the phone. “How was your day?”
“Got a C on my math mid-terms. Pretty good day for me.” He answered, almost automatically like his brain hadn’t caught up to his ears yet. I jumped when a hand pushed open my bedroom door from behind me. I glared over my shoulder at Druex and he smiled tightly. “Do you mind?”
“Not at all.” He said.
“Who was that? And did you fucking say you’re a werewolf?” Riley yelled and I winced, jerking the phone away from my ear. “Part. God don’t scream in my ear like that, it hurts.”
“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY?” I heard Peyton bellow and held the phone even farther out from me. “Stop yelling!” I shouted at the phone and Druex licked the smile off his mouth. “Shut it Druex.”
“I didn’t say anything.” I pointed my finger at him. “You were thinking it, get out of my room.” His silver brows lifted but he didn‘t go anywhere. “You read minds now too?”
“WHY THE HELL IS DRUEX IN YOUR BEDROOM?” Peyton roared and I yelled right back. “Give the fucking phone back to Tristan, I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
“Nice babe, I’ll repeat the question, what’s that guy doing in your room?”
“Not your business.” I snapped.
“That was TMI.”
“How was that TMI?”
“Jesus Christ Cherish, and you kiss your mother with that mouth?” He gasped in horror.
I stopped talking and could hear Peyton snarling curses left and right. “Oh you are an evil, devious little witch.”
“Yes, yes I am. So now that I’ve got that disgusting picture in my head, we’re warding against what?”
“Hold on.” I put the phone away from me and yelled for my dad. “Daddy, what are the guys trying to keep out, other than your general pussy bad guy?” Druex blinked at me with wide eyes and I glared at him. “I have no idea.” My dad shouted back and I had to swallow my heart before I put the phone back to my ear. If my dad didn’t know, my dad, who was the official leader as eldest of the coven, didn‘t know…“You get that?”
Tristan‘s gulp was audible. “We’re fucked. Yeah, got it. Call you back in five.”
“Promise?”
“Promise. Love you.”
“Love you to. Kiss Riley for me.”
“Not even for Carmen Electra in a tub full of whipped cream.”
I hung up the phone and stared at it for a minute. “Got a dog. Gee don’t I feel special.” I glared at Druex and tossed the purple cell to the bed and stripped off my robe, tossing in the general direction of my vanity and heard Druex give a rumbling growl, but not an angry one, the kind that made my breath quicken, my body heat with need. My nightgown was milk chocolate color, silky, floor length, but apparently a huge turn on for him.
I looked over my shoulder at him and jerkily pulled my hair up into a pony tail. “What are you growling at?” His eyes were tracking over every inch of me he could see. “Hell-o?” I turned around to face him and his body rippled with that hair raising presence. “You’re so…perfect.” I cocked my hip to the side and planted my hand on it. “Flattery isn’t going to make me just forget to be pissed off at you.” He licked his lips, like a hungry wolf, his arms crossed over his chest, like he was hugging himself to keep from jumping on me. “Uh hu…What?”
Although I was pissed off, it was nice to know I could pretty much turn him into a slavering idiot, just because my nipples were pebbled under the silk bodice of my gown. “Would you like your eyeballs back? They seem to have gotten lost in my cleavage.” He backed up a few steps. “You smell so good.” He growled and shook himself, like he was ridding water from his body. “Thanks.” I drawled and walked into my closet to change. I had my pants on and a sports bra when my cell phone rang. Catwoman had nothing on me, I leap out of the closet and pounced on the little box. “Tristan?”
“No, it’s me.” Peyton. I was to nervous to care. “What happened, did you put up the spell?”
“Yeah, we got bombarded with bats too though. Riley had fun blowing them up.”
I felt a mishmash of panic and relief. “But you’re okay right? Everyone’s okay?”
“Yeah,” He sighed wearily. “That voice was like nails on a damn chalkboard.”
“I know.”
“So Druex’s spending the night. Having fun?”
And just like that I was pissed off. Must be some wolf hormones or something. “Go find Trixi and get fucked Peyton, give the phone to Tristan before I say something mean to you.”
“I never meant to hurt you Cherish.” Peyton murmured dejectedly. “Well, unfortunately you did. Just…put Riley or Tristan on. Please.”
“Cherish, is there a reason why you’re not wearing a shirt now too?” I looked over at my dad and my mother standing in the doorway, looking from me to Druex suspiciously. “Yeah, you probably don’t want to hear it though. Here, you can talk to them. I’m done.” I smacked the phone in my Dad’s hand and stalked back into my closet. “Er, no, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I heard my dad say. “Wait until morning. I don’t think it can operate under the full light of day.”
