chapter 3
Jack stumbled down the deck of the ship...will was at the wheel, nodding slightly to jacks unsure gaze
Jack seem slightly timid still and William sighed, motioning with his head behind him.
Will watched as he walked carefully to the back of the ship.
Jacqueline sighed as jack leaned against the railing alongside her
She glared at him, yet kept a skeptic eyebrow raised.
'That really is a pretty boat...ship' he said to her, pointing his pouch out to her ship
Will sighed from his spot only 10 feet away
Jacqueline glared at him
'What do ye want' she asked, standing away from the railing.
She stood facing him, her chin raised. And jack turned...meeting her
She could smell the rum on his breath as it rode over her nose and lips.
When he had turned, he made sure to be as close as possible as her,
knowing she would not back away.
'Drink. Love?' he offered, holding the pouch up to her and she stared at it
'Ye are a pirate...aren’t ye?' he grinned and she glared at him, taking his pouch from him roughly.
He felt her calloused fingertips brush against his skin and smiled
They were still smooth
He watched her take a deep swallow from the pouch, leaning back slightly.
She wiped her mouth with her sleeve, and handed the pouch back to jack, who in turn did the same thing.
Will laughed to himself, turning back around to face the wheel..
They definitely were alot alike
'Oh...where’s your jolly at love?.... Drink and be merry..... Splice the mainbrace.' Jacqueline glared at him
'Don’t make me wake every man on board to start singing.........weeeere devils.... Were black sheep...
were really bad eggs...drink up me hearties...yo ho..yo ho...yo ho yo ho...a Pirates life for me'
he sang loudly, dancing around the deck, and William stared at the ground,
cupping his hand over his mouth to muffle his laughter.
He heard Jacqueline laugh as jack silenced and shrugged.
'Ye see now love.... that’s the way you drink...ye put a smile on yer face...a laugh on yer lips' he said smoothly, and Jacqueline almost didn’t notice the studying gaze that he was sending her
'Do you have more rum?' She asked, unsatisfied by the small wash of liquor in her mouth, and jack grinned wickedly.
'Of course me love.... Oh will?' he called over his shoulder
'Yes jack?' he called back from the wheel and jack smiled to Jacqueline
'Would you run and grab 2 bottles for me?.... Ill man the wheel for a while...' he offered and William turned to look at him
Jacqueline’s arms were folded, looking out to her ship, and jack, taking advantage of her unseeing gaze, was motioning desperately for William to oblige.
'Of course' he smiled, shaking his head at jack
Hearing wills footsteps recede Jacquelyn turned around, looking first at the unmanned wheel, then to jack.
Seeing that he was not going to move she sighed and walked to the wheel. She picked up the compass gingerly, her mouth slightly slacked in awe, and tenderly holding, it she turned the wheel carefully.
Jack walked up beside her, and inhaled the air deeply through his nose
'So the curse was real..was it?' Jack sucked his teeth, watching her hold the wheel steady
She turned and looked at him and he smiled, tilted his head and whispered 'aye'
'And how in bloody `ell did ye lift the curse so you could kill that bastard barbossa?' she asked, turning back to stare at the sea. The moon peeked out from a cloud before their path and her gaze turned to it,. And his followed ''They needed William turners blood, and the last medallion'
'But Williams dead' she said sorrowfully and jack was pleased that she did not refer to him as bootleg
'Aye.... But his son ain`t' he said as will returned with their rum,
Jacqueline looked at him and her eyes widened in disbelief...shaking it off she took her bottle, uncorked it and handed it to will. Will looked at her 1st...then jack, who shrugged his shoulders and motioned for him to take it. he took a swallow from the glass and handed it back to her, questioning her with her eyes.
When his hand was free she grabbed at his wrist, looking him in his eye
'You’re father was a good man...one of the few' she said, and wills fingers wrapped around her wrist as firm as hers were around his. Jacks eyes softened in clarity...and William smiled
'Thank you' he bowed, touching her arm with his other free hand, and their arms slid away from each other
'Goodnight jack.... Jacqueline’ he said before retreating back to the deck below
Jack watched as she took a deep swallow from her bottle. Her head turned to look him in the eye and asked
'What did you say? About the last medallion?'
'Ah yes.... They needed to replace them all.... But William sent one to his son....'
'William took a medallion from the chest?'
'Well...that’s what id presume happened love...after all he did acquire one at least to send to his son ....'
He smiled, standing slightly closer to her
'Why do you ask?'
She shrugged
‘he could still be alive out there…if he got himself from davy jones locker afore the curse lifted that is’
Jack looked at her and smiled
He hadn’t thought of that before
