Coping For Revenge

By Katrina Carvell
Co-Written by Alecto

Rating: R

Pairings: Jack/Scarlett Will/Seline(OC) Implied Norrington/Elizabeth

Summary: A quest for burried treasure gone arwy. Endings left untied. In the aftermath, will Scarlett, Will, and Seline be able to pull through? With the help of an old friend, they may, despite the curveballs thrown to them.

Disclaimers: Neither of the writers own Pirates of the Caribbean or any characters from the movie. This story is not written for profit but merely to fuel our JDOCD and OBOCD. Seline is an original character by Alecto, as is Seabird. Captain Cutlass is Katrina's character, and Scarlett, despite the same name and based on the PotC wench is relatively owned by Kat.

Author's Notes: This is still a flashback chapter. The plot doesn't really start until Chapter 5 or 6. Let me know if the whole cards thing is cheesy. I'm trying to give you a chance to get used to the characters before jumping into the MAJOR plottage...which starts in the next chapter or so. Originally, none of this was in the original story concept, but I didn't want to jump around too much. So, please review and flame if necessary. Constructive critism is greatly appreciated, considering this is my first story.

Jack scrambled out of the rowboat and onto shore like a kid scrambling out of bed on Christmas day. Stopping abruptly, he quickly surveyed the island, hands held out to either side. After nodding approvingly at the island, he turned quickly, hands poised for balance, hair spinning out, trinkets clinking. He walked back to the boat, scooping Scarlett up in his arms and carrying her up the sandy beach, where the crew was making camp.

"Knew I forgot some'hing, love." He said with a grin, causing the woman to hit him playfully across the shoulders, giggling as the Captain collapsed in the sand with her near a chest of maps. He quickly paid the woman's throat a bit of attention before pulling out a map from the chest and spreading it out with shells and pebbles, Scarlett looking over his shoulder curiously as he studied the map.

Will helped Seline out after Jack had retrieved Scarlett, the two giggling as Seline fumbled out of the boat. After both their feet were firmly on shore, they both grabbed a sack or two of supplies, and headed up the beach, dropping them near Jack and Scarlett.

Seline fell gracefully into the sand, sitting cross-legged next to her Scarlett, glancing at the map both were so aptly interested in. Will sat down behind her, wrapping his arms around her and glancing at the map.

"Amazing that we sailed half way around the bleeding world for a map." He teased, nuzzling her ear with a grin.

Seline giggled softly before mocking Jack. "Oh, but it's such a
"impor'ant" map, whelp." She said, mimicking the Captain's movements, catching Scarlett's attention. "Prolly th' biggest haul since we wen' back t' Isle de Muerta!" She said, leaning closer to Will and wiggling her eyebrows comically, causing both Will and Scarlett to laugh hysterically, Seline grinning in triumph.

It wasn't until Scarlett fell over, from laughing too hard, in the sand behind Jack that the Captain even looked up.

"Wha'?" He asked in wide eyed confusion, a slight pouty look on his features, causing all three to roll in laughter again.

Scarlett wheezed slightly. "Oh bloody 'ell! Ow! Oh it 'urts!" She said giggling insanely, Will laughing into Seline's stomach, the two both sprawled out across the sand.

Jack looked a bit scared. "Wha' th' 'ell is wrong wiv ye?" He said, glancing between his three friends before shrugging and standing.

"Righ' then. I'll jus' be off t'....organize th'..." He trailed off, casting another disturbed glance to the three before turning and sauntering off to get everything together for their treasure hunt.

When Jack returned, Will, Seline, and Scarlett had become somewhat sane and were playing cards in the sand. Jack grinned at the sight of his old cards, naked women on the backs of them.

"Love! Where'dye find me ol' cards?" Jack asked in pure joy, causing Scarlett to look up at him with a raised brow. A smirk finally broke on her lips, causing Seline and Will to snicker slightly.

"Your cards, Captain?" She asked, the same amused look still decorating her features.

"Aye. Me cards." He said with a slight frown. Scarlett laughed, holding a card out to him.

"These are my cards, love." She said with another laugh, Will and Seline exchanging chuckles as they tossed in a couple cards, Will dealing out new ones.

The Captain took the card and examined it closely, turning it this way and that.

"No matter!" He said with a wicked look directed to his wife. "We leave in an hour." He said, nodding to the jungle-like terrain only a couple hundred yards further up the shore.

Will blinked slightly. "Shouldn't we wait 'till tomorrow morning, Jack?" He asked with a slightly confused glance.

"Dear William, I 'ave waited years t' get on this beach. Unless ye wan' me plum drunk in th' mornin', we leave in an hour." He said, looking thoughtful, the idea not sounding too bad...

"No! We leave in an hour!" The first mate and his wife chorused together, Scarlett snorting in laughter.

"Good then." Jack said, sitting down in the small circle with a slight flourish.

"So. What're we playin' then?"
