Hell On Earth
Chapter Three: Hell On Earth
Joey turned her gaze away from the box and took a deep breath.
“It’s time.” She announced ominously, earning a shocked glance from Anthony and Steven.
“I don’t want you two here when I summon him, I must do this alone.”
“But…” Began Steven.
“No buts, if I need help, I’ll let you know. Now is not the time for heroics, now is the time for revenge. Go.”
Steven fled the room, leaving Joey and Anthony staring eye to eye.
“Leave.” She commanded simply.
Anthony nodded and gently kissed Joey on her left cheek before turning and running from the room.
Joey turned her attention towards the box, closing her eyes and letting them roll into the back of her head she used her powers to open it, listening to it as it clicked into place.
Suddenly a huge flash of blinding light filled the room, and when Joey opened her eyes a huge dark figure came into view, a figure that would make even the bravest man quake in fear.
A tall dark robed man like creature approached Joey, his strides large and forceful.
As Joey continued to stare a pair of dark brown almost black eyes and a face full of long metal pins revealed itself.
“Pinhead.” Snarled Joey as she stared up at the frightening figure that loomed over her.
“Cenobite Slayer.” It smiled, its deep rumbling voice not even coming close to sending even the tiniest of shivers down the young girls spine.
“We meet again at last, I had almost given up waiting for you.”
Joey continued to stare at the cenobite as he walked around her, looking up and down her body.
“You’re so much like your mother.” He noted, reaching out and brushing a lock of long brown hair behind Joey’s left ear, causing the young girl to cringe as he did so.
“The same look of defiance, the same spirited nature, I just hope you’ll enjoy dying in the same way she did.”
A low growl sounded in the pit of Joey’s throat as she angrily batted Pinhead’s hand away from her shoulder.
“You know why I summoned you Pinhead, so why don’t you just let me kill you quickly so I can try and return to a normal life.”
Pinhead threw his head back and laughed evilly.
“Oh no child, you can’t destroy me. I thought you would’ve realized that by now, even after six years at the innocent age of twelve, ripe for the taking I might add, you still haven’t managed to destroy me so what makes you think you can kill me now?”
“You killed my parents and stepfather. It’s a good enough motive for me.”
Pinhead smirked at Joey’s reply and roughly grabbed her chin, lowering his head to her level. Joey could feel the pins brushing over her nose and chin as he spoke, his breath cold like ice against her warm skin.
“Very good Cenobite Slayer.” Snarled Pinhead.
“However, not good enough I fear.”
Pinhead snapped his fingers and suddenly, Anthony’s twin brother Kyle appeared.
“Kyle!” Yelled Joey, trying desperately to escape from Pinhead’s tight grip but to no avail.
“Not so fast Cenobite Slayer.” Smirked Pinhead evilly as he roughly let go of her chin, nodding in Kyle’s direction.
Before Kyle knew what was happening, several barbed hooked chains appeared from nowhere and attached themselves to him, causing him to cry out in great pain as they drove through his flesh, drawing blood as they did so.
“No! Kyle!” Screamed Joey, rushing forward but as she did, several more chains appeared and blocked her way.
Pinhead laughed evilly and turned his attention back to Joey.
“You can’t save every soul, sometimes you have to make sacrifices, and that’s what makes your suffering so sweet.”
Joey snarled angrily.
“I won’t let you destroy Kyle the way you destroyed my family.”
Pinhead’s smirk twisted into an evil sneer.
“Just be thankful it’s Kyle I’m going to kill and not Anthony.”
“You bastard!” Yelled Joey.
She leapt at Pinhead, rugby tackling him to the ground she grabbed him by his throat and slowly tightened her grip, desperately trying to choke the black evilness of life from the monster that lay under her.
Pinhead smiled and stared into Joey’s ocean blue eyes.
“Oh it’s no use child, the harder you squeeze the more I enjoy it.”
Suddenly Pinhead leapt up and grabbed Joey by her shirt collar, roughly throwing her against the wall.
“So eager to play, but so reluctant to admit it.” He smiled tilting his head to the left in an almost mocking gesture towards the trapped teenager.
“Well let’s see we can’t persuade you to see our point of view.”
“What are you talking about?” Snarled Joey, she didn’t bother struggling to get free, there was no point.
Suddenly Joey heard the clicking of what sounded like bone on bone.
She looked desperately at Kyle but nothing was happening to him, he stood still as stone the chains straining at his flesh, causing his blood to pour out of every wound where they had penetrated him.
The clicking grew louder, suddenly it finally hit Joey what the noise was.
A blinding light filled the room as the silhouettes of three nightmarish figures came into view.
“Oh shit!” Gasped Joey, knowing all too well what was about to happen next.
As the light faded, Joey recognized the figures almost immediately.
The first was a tall alien like creature; its black beady eyes scanned the room, its mouth was pulled back almost to its ears, its white human teeth constantly clicking together almost mechanically as it began to approach Pinhead.
The second, a large bloated creature with a swollen head and for some strange reason wearing sunglasses was next to appear, Joey winced at the sight of it as it moved to stand beside Pinhead.
Finally the third and final cenobite appeared.
It looked distinctly female; its dark brown eyes seemed to stare right through Joey as it approached her.
Its neck was cut open and a series of wires ran through its cheeks and through the hole in its neck, making it look like a tracheotomy gone seriously wrong.
Pinhead let go of Joey and turned his gaze to the other cenobites.
“Kill her.” He commanded letting go of Joey and moving away.
Joey’s eyes went wide as the three cenobites moved in around her, leering at her, as she remained frozen on the spot.
“Joey help me!”
Joey looked frantically at Kyle as Pinhead pulled a sharp curved blade from the belt of his jet black robe and gently ran it over the trembling youths throat, not drawing blood but making him cry out all the more in panic.
“Leave him alone. I’m the one you want!” Snarled Joey.
Pinhead smirked and called off the attack, causing his servants to move away from her and stand to one side.
“You’re right Cenobite Slayer.” Said Pinhead with an evil tone in his deep rumbling voice.
“You are the one we want, but what if we want your friend as well.”
Joey gulped, she couldn’t let Kyle die, Anthony would never forgive her.
“Normally we don’t bargain with anyone,” He continued.
“However in your case, we’ll make an exception. Surrender your soul to us and Kyle will go free. Maybe.”
Joey sneered angrily.
“What if I don’t?”
“Then your friend will be…sent to a better place.”
Joey lowered her head angrily.
I can’t lose this battle, but I can’t let them kill Kyle either. Oh man what am I gunna do? Mom please, if you can hear me, please, help me.
“What is your choice?” Demanded Pinhead.
“Go to Hell!” Snarled Joey, jumping up and grabbing the Chatterer, hammer throwing it into the female, which in turn caused a chain reaction of collisions that sent them all crashing through the wall of her home.
“Very well, then suffer the consequences of your selfishness.” Snarled Pinhead.
Kyle screamed his last as the chains sprang to life and ripped his body apart, sending blood, flesh and shattered bones flying in all directions, splattering the walls and creating a horrendous blood bath like nothing the world had ever seen before.
Joey angrily turned and fled from the room, dashing down the stairs and bursting through the front door, she ran off down the darkening street, hoping that she could find Anthony and Steven before it was too late.
Pinhead and the other cenobites approached the window and stared out at the darkening streets as Joey disappeared from view.
“There is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide Cenobite Slayer, we will follow you where ever you go and when we find you, we’ll tear your soul apart.”
Joey kept running, not daring to look back as she turned the corner into Central Park, she finally stopped as she approached the vast gardens.
Bending over slightly to catch her breath she choked back a sob as she remembered how Kyle was ripped apart by chains.
Kyle! Oh God no, how am I gunna tell Anthony that I’m responsible for his brother’s death?
Joey gulped and reached into her pocket, pulling out her cell phone, choking back another sob she shakily pushed the buttons on it as she dialed Anthony’s number.
“Anthony?” She asked shakily as he answered the phone.
“Joey is that you? Are you okay? What happened?”
“I’m fine,” Replied Joey.
“Anthony, Pinhead just killed Kyle. I’m sorry I tried to save him but I couldn’t.”
“What? No way! How? Why?” Came the startled reply.
Joey broke down and cried, she could no longer hold back the tears that flooded her ocean blue eyes.
“I’m sorry Anthony, I tried but Pinhead ripped him apart with black chains and he said he was coming after you next.”
“Joey where are you?” Anthony was worried but his voice sounded angry and forceful.
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry.” She cried, shaking madly as she started walking again.
“Joey, calm down. I’m not mad at you okay. Just tell me where you are, I wanna know you’re okay.”
“I’m in Central Park. Look Anthony, you and Steve stay where you are. I’m going back after Pinhead I summoned him so I could destroy him and that’s what I’m gunna do.”
She gulped nervously and took a deep breath.
“I love you Anthony.”
With that she hung up and put her phone back into her jacket pocket, sighing deeply she looked up into the night sky, the stars shining down her like diamonds in a sea of darkness.
Darkness. Pinhead.
Joey closed her eyes and gritted her teeth angrily as she lowered her head.
I promised Mom that after I sent Pinhead back to Hell over a year ago I would never let another soul be lost to him.
“I’m sorry Mom, I failed you.”
“Joey.” Said a voice.
Joey looked around nervously, looking to her left she noticed someone. Her eyes went wide when she realized who it was that was talking to her.
“You!” She gasped as the war officer from the videotape came towards her.
“Find Kirsty Cotton, Joey.” He said. “Find Kirsty Cotton.”
Joey opened her mouth to speak, but as soon as she did he faded into thin air, leaving Joey stunned and unable to speak.
What just happened, he just appeared told me to find Kirsty Cotton then disappeared. Am I imagining this or not? Maybe he’s right though, Kirsty knows about the cenobites, maybe she can help me destroy them once and for all. I don’t know if she could but I have to try.
Joey turned her gaze away from the box and took a deep breath.
“It’s time.” She announced ominously, earning a shocked glance from Anthony and Steven.
“I don’t want you two here when I summon him, I must do this alone.”
