Title: My Own God
Author: FloweringWolfsbane
Author’s Email: flowering_wolfsbane@hotmail.com
Web page:http://www.machinescontradiction.bravehost.com/fanfiction.html
Pairing; Agent Smith/OC
Current Rating: PG13
Summary: The story of how just how machines seek perfection, so too are they filled with contradiction.
Disclaimer: Not mine, someone else’s. Smells like Teen Spirit has been edited for use in this non-profit making story. I am merely playing in someone else’s sandpit.
Warnings: Completely AU of course.
Author’s Note: I was sick of the fact that there were no major female roles in the films (apart from Trinity…) and so I have corrected that oversight. The say Smith and Neo are opposites, and so therefore I decided to even the odds between them a tad.
My Own God:
Chapter Three: Entertain Us
It was a covert operation. The Mainframe was aware that Agent M was leading a crackdown against the Exiles, but this….They would not approve of a massacre. Even if it was to improve the Matrix. The Merovingian, the self appointed leader of the rogue programs, had been organising a number of stand offs against her Agents, interfering with their search and destroy operations. And so it was time to take him down. Smith carefully stood at The Master Agent’s left side as they approached his apparent ‘hideout’
Load up on guns
Bring your friends
The four of them walked in silence, communicating only through their earpieces. Having descended to the very bowels of the earth, they had to get passed the obvious security that the Frenchman would have. They had tagged an insignificant virus program and monitored his movements to help them locate the Merovingian. And this sewer had been where he had gone.
It’s fun to lose
And to pretend
Walking in time, M took the lead, strangely. As her creations and in her charge, wasn’t it more logical for them to protect her? Smith considered this point, and countered it, just as a machine should. M liked to take the lead, dominate, obliterate….overwhelm. She would be the first to reach the Merovingian, to hold that special little gun she kept strapped to her inner leg to his forehead. He felt envious of that gun, being so close to her, even if it was merely Matrix code, she had deeper feelings for such an insignificant piece of software than she would ever have for her Agents.
She’s overboard
And self assured
M stopped, hearing voices and carefully reaching into her pocket. She pulled out what was shaped like a grenade, and pulled the pin, grasping the handle close to the smooth curved shape, before taking aim and throwing it in one swift movement. They watched her, unused to seeing her move in such as way outside of practice programs. Within the Matrix she merely observed their behaviour, chased up the few Viri that could escape an Agent.
I know I know
A dirty word
It hit further down the wretched corridor, and a few seconds later it exploded. Smith considered what technology M would have used; they all knew she tinkered within the Matrix’s program files and with her own settings also. When they carried on, he saw that the guards who should have been in place where nowhere to be seen.
Hello, hello hello. How low?
The grenade must have disrupted their signal for a few seconds, enough for us to pass through unnoticed. Or it could have pinpointed their hidden files long enough for the Matrix to automatically delete them. He wondered if they would ever receive such technology.
“Smith, you do not need such weaponry. You’re an Agent, you are the weapon.”
They paused outside the main doors, hearing a familiar thump of a Bass. It was obviously a party that they were interrupting. He found amusement at this, the fact they were gate crashing. If he could laugh, he’d be in stitches right now.
Kicking the door in. M pulled her other two guns out. And they ran forwards
With the lights out it’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Those closest to the door fell first, the rain of bullets cutting through simulated flesh, the RSIs falling to the floor. Leaping catlike over them, all Agents split up, taking down those who would cause more damage to them. This first movement itself took a mere. 0.46 of a second, the Viri themselves unable to even comprehend the level of the attack. Rarely did M actually involve herself in the random killing of anything within the Matrix.
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
M moved with a grace the male Agents did not; perhaps it was because she held a female form, or maybe because her program was one of the most advanced. Whatever the cause, she was a wonderful killer, able to move and bend and warp the Matrix. In the melee that was now the dancing, dying Viri the Agents carried on their work.
Here we are now
Entertain us
This was all an exercise for M, Smith realised. She would not ever be in any danger of deletion as he and the other Agents were. She made a jump, leaping right up onto the balcony to where the Merovingian was just about comprehending the danger his program was in. He could not avoid it once M pulled the gun from between her legs out and held it to his head.
I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
“I think it’s about time you and I had a little discussion, Viri. Tell your stooges to get their weapons off me or I’ll have every single one of you deleted.” M smiled, noticing a crack in the façade of the ever debonair Merovingian.
“Ah, ze ever forzeful Agent Em. I tell you, I will tell zem to remove zer weaponz if you alzo do it.”
“It’s my deal or no deal, Frenchman.” He sighed, and signalled for them to drop their weapons. “Good Boy, Now, as I was saying, we need to talk.”
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
The other Agents continued with their duty, finally meeting some resistance. Brown and Jones worked together, leaving Smith exposed. Unable to dislike, the other two avoided partnering with Smith, disliking his relentless pursuit, his inability to see beyond the current victim.
With the lights out it’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
Bodies piled high, leaving few viri to fight. Most had fled away, seeing M herself descend among them left them in fear of her. She watched them, noting down which program were rogue and allowing the Mainframe to track them, whilst she negotiated with the Merovingian. She had been told he gave up nothing unless the price was right; now se knew he was very willing if one threatened his life, and the life of his beloved, Persephone.
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
”Give me unlimited access to the hidden corridors and the pirate programs you have jacked into the Matrix. Then we have a deal.”
“And what iz in it for me?”
“Well…you leave with yourself ad your woman still in tact.”
He laughed, and reached inside his jacket.
“Very well, Agent Em, here you go. But don’t let ze Mainframe catch you wizth it.”
M walked away from him, jumping over the side of the railing to avoid any bullets he may dare fire at her. She paused for a moment, admiring the carnage her Agents had wrecked, patiently waiting for her by the door.
And I forget
Just what it takes
And yet I guess it makes me smile
“Did you achieve our objectives, Master Agent?” Smith asked, head cocked to the side. M nodded, holding the chip up before placing it within her jacket with a cold smile. The Agent froze, that cool smile chilling him deep inside…
I found it hard
Its hard to find
Oh well, whatever, never mind
they emerged from the rat holes, and Smith still could not think of anything but that smile. Why oh why wouldn’t it leave him? Carefully dismissing it for later, her replaced his glasses in time with the others and climbed back into the car.
Yeah, this is sorta a filler chapter, hope you weren’t too bored! Gets a bit more interesting soon….
