The Return

Jack gasped as his head emerged from the ocean - his lungs burning from lack of oxygen; tears streaming down his face from stress and fear that he was surely going to drown. He had never swam so hard and fast in his life. His arms felt like jelly as he tried to push himself through the cold water - mostly floating as he made his way towards a small island just a few feet away.

He really was one lucky bastard.

Jack pulled himself onto the sandy beach and curled into a ball - shivering as the wind blew over his wet body. He had made it out of the Kraken - swam nearly a mile on one breath of stale, disgusting air and now he was going to freeze to death. Maybe he wasn't as lucky as he had thought. Why couldn't it have just been his time? Olivia had assured him it wasn't but that's all he wanted - to make sure Elizabeth and Will were safe and to be able to go down with his ship and be with Olivia in the afterlife.

"Olivia.." He whispered, sighing as exhaustion and defeat washed over him and he lost himself in unconsciousness. The warm sun faded behind the horizon as night fall covered everything in darkness.

"Will! Come look!!" Elizabeth yelled, turning around to search the few crewmen for her husband. Will Turner was standing at the mast - looking through his own telescope. "Will! I see something.." She continued, finally getting his attention as he half ran - half slid over to where she was standing. "What is it, Liz? What do you see?" He asked, wrapping a strong arm around her as they stood at the side of the ship together. He took her telescope and placed it to his eye - surprised to see a man lying on a deserted beach.

"..Jack.."

"Haul anchor! Get the long boat ready!" Elizabeth began to yell - running over towards Gibbs and Tia who were talking among themselves on the other side of the ship. "It's Jack! Jack Sparrow.. he's lying motionless on the island.."

Gibbs took off towards Will - snatching the telescope from him quickly as he searched for the island - spotting Jack just as Elizabeth had said.

"Weigh anchor! We have to slow this ship!"

Will jumped out of the long boat and ran through knee deep water towards the island - Elizabeth not far behind. "Jack! Jack Sparrow!" He yelled, reciving nothing from the man lying on the beach. "Jack! He fell to his knees beside him and leaned an ear down to his mouth. "He's breathing! He's alive!" Elizabeth assured the rest of the crew as they made way onto the island.

"Jack! You lucky swag!" Will declaired happily, jerking the man up by the laples of his shirt - waking him quickly from a deep, needed slumber. "How did you manage to escape such a fate?!"

Jack tried to focus on the man that was either attacking him or trying to woo him - he wasn't quite sure but didn't welcome either at the moment. "Sea turtles, mate.." He groaned, shoving Will away with little strength. His body still ached from the swim as his deprived lungs inhailed another blessed breath of air. "Bootstrap?"

"It's me, Will Turner! Is everythin' alright?"

"I was swallowed by a monster of a beast and dragged to the very bottom of the ocean, lad. Not to mention having to swim my way back up from the depths on one breath of soured air. Everythin' is surely not alright."

"Jack.."

He turned his head quickly to the side - surprised to see a one Ms. Elizabeth Turner walking onto the beach with her dress pulled up to her knees. She looked happy to see him - even though it was mostly her fault for the situation to begin with. "Aye, 'Lizabeth, dear." Jack narrowed his eyes for a moment - remembering past events - but decided against telling their shared secret. The thought of his wife being a wicked trator that had sent him into the belly of a monster probably wouldn't sit well with Will Turner so Jack just grinned that charming gold smile and welcomed her to the Caribbean.

"Jack, I'm sorry.."

"Sorry for what, love? We're square." He assured quietly, nodding towards Will. Elizabeth nodded her head and forced a weak smile. "I'd have done just the same - and probably more had the situation been different love and you know it."

"Jack Sparrow, hmm.. didn't think it'd be dis easy finding you, eh." Tia murmered, walking up behind Elizabeth. She grinned that signature grin and locked eyes with Jack. "Don't look like ya be happy to see me, 'dough. Sometin' da matter which you?"

Jack tried to push himself up to a sitting position - groaning in pain as his arms were still to weak to hold his weight. Barbossa was making way towards the island - smirking with that damn monkey on his shoulder. "I thought I killed him.." He asked, glaring at Tia. Only a fool wouldn't know who had brought Barbossa back from the great beyond. Tia Dalma was a strange and powerful woman.

"Ah, him. Don't be angry with me over dat, Jack. Barbossa made a deal with me a long time ago - before you were but a taught in your momma's head. "

"Aye, Jack. You look... old.." Barbossa assured with a smirk - causing Jack to stand to his feet and reach for his sword. A sword that had been lost to Davy Jone's locker after slaying The Kraken. "..old and slow, hmm.." It was obvious Barbossa and Jack weren't going to be able to get along as Barbossa reach for his sword and pulled it out quickly - pointing it at Jack's throat. "I should send ya to yer bonnie lass for killin' me like you did.." He growled, pressing the tip of the sword deeper against Jack's neck.

"Barbossa! Will! Make them stop at once!" Elizabeth yelled - with no prevail. "That'll be enough, Barbossa. We aren't here to.."

In one quick movement on his part Jack kicked Barbossa in the chest and sent him and the demon monkey flying backwards - the sword landing skillfully in Jack's grasp. He spun around quickly and lunged towards Tia - causing her eyes to go wide with surprise as the blade pressed against her jugular. "You told me that it was impossible to bring Olivia back from the dead - yet Hector Barbossa stands before us a new man! I offered you everything I have to bring her back and you lied to me.."

"Jack! Please.." Elizabeth fell back into Will's embrace - covering her face in fear that someone was going to be killed before her - she had never heard such a sound come from Jack Sparrow. His voice deep and full of hate towards the woman he was threatening. "Shut up, Elizabeth! You have no idea.." He snapped - advancing towards his captive slowly. "None of you have any idea what guilt like this is.. the pain of knowing you destroyed something so wonderful all because of your lust for the sea. I should have killed you were you stood for not helping me when I came to you.."

Tia was finished with his threats. Her arms shot out in front of her - sending Jack flying backwards and his sword into the ocean behind them. Strong wind began to blow around each of the crewmen - causing Elizabeth to fall to her knees and cover her head in fear. Will went to her side - looking towards the heavens as the clear sky turned black and Tia began to elevate above the sand.

"I am many ting's, Jack Sparrow but a liar not be one of dem. You came to me empty handed wanting me to bring you back a life in which you took with your greed and your lust for the open waters - now you only want her back to ease that ache you live with everyday."

"That's not true! Damn you witch! I love her!"

The wind was so strong Jack was unable to stand to his feet - the palm trees surrounding them began to sway and bend nearly in half as hurricane like weather washed over them.

"I'll give ya what ye want Jack Sparrow and you'll know the wrath of a woman scorned.."

Tia lifted her hands to the sky and began chanting in a deep, demonic voice - her dark eyes locked on the heavens as a powerful surge of energy passed through her body - sending everyone to their knees as the hues changed and those eyes glowed deep red. Water shot up from the middle of the ocean - shooting miles into the air as it spit out the one thing Jack wanted most.

His beloved Olivia.

In seconds everything was back to normal, no wind - no hurricane and Tia was standing on the ground again with a smirk on her face. "Dere you go, Jack Sparrow, what you want most in life has been returned to you.. good luck.." She hissed, nodding towards the motionless body which laid a few feet away from them. Jack followed her gaze - whispering her name as he pushed himself to his feet and stumbled over to the girl, falling to his knees beside her. He lifted her head up into his lap and brushed away the strands of wet hair - pulling her limp body into his embrace.

"What have you done you cursed witch?! If you hurt you I'll.."

If she had done anything to Olivia he would snap her neck with his bare hands.

"Give 'er time.."

Jack returned his attention back to Olivia - who was in fact breathing as she rested quietly. "Captain, orders?" Gibbs asked quietly - shaken by the evets that had just taken place. He had seen a lot of strange things in his day but nothing quiet this eerie. A woman that had been dead for nearly a month was now lying in Jack's arms as if she had never left. "We'll return to the ship and make haste towards Tortuga - we're going to need a small army to take down The East India Trading Company and Lord Beckett.." Jack assured, never taking his eyes off Olivia's sweet face. "Why are we going there? Lord Beckett will hang us for sure.." Will protested, only to have Jack raise his hand to shush him. "Lord Beckett has something that belongs to Tia and I will return it to her.."

Jack finally looked up at Tia who smiled satisfingly and turned back towards the ship. Davy Jone's was in fact her lover at one time and she the woman that caused him to cut out his own heart. She wanted that heart.

Will ushered Elizabeth back towards the long boat on shaky legs as Jack scooped Olivia's limp body up into his tired arms and carried her as if she was a sack of feathers towards their ship.
