The Fall Of A Lifetime

Authors note. Ok. Chapter three is up, I had a really hard time writing this chapter for some reason, but I think it came out ok in the end. Well I’m not going to bore you to death with words any longer. On with the show. Lol!


Chapter three.


Jack picked up the alicorn from the floor, trying hard not to look at the severed hand of Darkness.

The battle had been hard and he had more than once feared for his life but he had eventually bested the beast and could now return to the forest with his love Oona.

He marvelled at how he had ever lived before he met her.

The room suddenly felt like it was spinning, his mind was screaming at him as though he was forgetting something that was very, very important.

He fell upon the floor trying to focus.

Gump saw the ordeal Jack was going through, and sympathised greatly.

He wished there were something he could do to help. Maybe if Jack was lucky Oona would release him soon and he could go back to his life with Lili.

Then he looked down and remembered…there was no way Jack could ever return to his former life, not after what he had done.

Not now that there was no Lili.

Jack heard Oona running into the chamber long before she reached him.

He tried to collect his thoughts but found to his dismay that he could no sooner fly.

Oona stood before him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder; he instantaneously felt his head clear.

He stood up slowly still feeling a little queasy and looked upon the most beautiful creature he had ever lain eyes on, Oona, his Oona.

Oona was seething, how could he possibly be fighting her! She was using far more of her energy than necessary to keep his memories from him and his thoughts on her.

With this much magic invested in him he shouldn’t even be able to walk. There was a barrier, a final thresh hold in his mind, and try as she might she could not beat it down with her magic.

She looked from Jack and to the corpse of Lili.



She looked back to Jack a look of pure venom flashing across her eyes.



Unable to even look at him any longer she walked over to the corpse determined to destroy her body.

Gump saw Oona walking and knew exactly what she was about to do; quickly he ran to her and grabbed her by her arm roughly turning her around to face him.

"No Oona, she is already gone. You can do no more harm to her now!" His voice bellowed across the chamber, she looked up at him with a crazed look in her eyes

"I can think of many more things I could do to her! Cut her into tiny pieces and feed her to the lowest of creatures in the lowest of swamps, and even then she would still be getting off lightly!"

Gump tightened his grip as she went towards the body knowing that even though she was the size of any human her years of flying had not built her muscles anywhere near to one.

It would appear she knew this too as she stopped struggling and looked past Gump to Jack.

"Jack my love come here one moment."

Jack scrambled to obey her and was at her side momentarily. He put an arm around her and pulled Gumps hand away from her.

"What are you doing Gump?" He looked at Gump with curiosity.

A little relived that Jack had not flied into a rage or hurt him, as he was much bigger than him he simply replied,

"My dear Jack Oona was about to destroy Li…this body."

He reminded himself not to speak her name anything that triggered his mind to think of Lili would only result in Oona placing even more magic on him and he was not sure how much more he could take.

"Why would you want to do that Oona?"

Jack looked down at the body and felt Oona’s hand on his cheek. Moving his eyes to her he just stated "Why?"

"Well simply because she was obviously his Queen and so she deserves to be punished."

She quickly looked down to the floor and then quickly back into his eyes.

Jack looked down on the dead woman’s form lying on the floor so gracefully, she looked like she was sleeping but the arrow in her chest told of the truth and the blood that pooled around it down her chest to the floor. Her eyes looked so sad, the tears she had shed before her death had smeared all the make-up that had been perfectly placed on her face before he had shot the arrow.

He had shot that arrow.

He was the one who had made her cry.

He was the reason she was lying on that floor covered in her own blood, but she had done nothing wrong, in fact she was going to release the unicorn all along, and he had killed her for it.

"No she does not deserve to be punished, I think we should leave her alone. Darkness’ old minions will do whatever they do to their people with her."

He looked at Oona as he finished and faltered as he saw a look of fury in her eyes, it quickly disappeared though as he finished his sentence.

Thinking she was pleased with this he asked as he held both her hands in his,

"When can we go home? I want to go back to the forest and get away from here before anything else happens."

Secretly he just wanted to get away from the body of the woman on the floor before his guilt consumed him.

Oona brought his hands up to her lips and pressed them tightly to his hands before exclaiming,

"Of course, we shall leave now and will never have to return to this horrible place ever again!"

She nearly jumped up and down in her excitement to leave.

She took one final look at Lili’s body and with a smug smile walked out of the chamber with Jack, Gump and the others.
