Chapter 3
They pulled the Black Pearl into port at Tortuga. Jack and Elizabeth left the ship, both smiling madly. Jack handed Elizabeth a bag of coins. “Now luv, go get a dress, and I’m going to get a bath.”
Elizabeth threw her arms around Jack and kissed him. “Thank you Jack.” But Jack had a look of concern on his face.
“Jack, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing luv. But is this what you want? To marry an ol’ sea dog?”
“Jack I love you, and if you haven’t noticed, I’m not the same Governor’s daughter you grabbed to save your own skin on the docks after you rescued me. Jack…” She stopped, only a small distance from his lips. “I’m a pirate remember.” And with that he grabbed the back of her head and began to madly kiss her. After a few minutes, Jack stopped the kiss. “I’ll see you in a few hours. Wait outside the church.”
Elizabeth had found a simple dress similar to the one she had worn the night of fire and rum. She sat outside the church waiting for Mr. Sparrow. While waiting, she contemplated about how much her life had changed in the last few days. A few days ago, she was engaged to Will, and then all of a sudden Will was dead, and she was getting married to Jack. Elizabeth put her head in her hands. She was exhausted and the news about Will still upset her.
Half an hour later, there was still no sign of Jack. She began to get impatient. “How could I trust him, I knew this would happen! He left me here and just sailed away. He’s a bloody pirate!” She began to cry. “Why is he doing this to me? I really love him, more than I ever dreamt of loving Will or any other man!”
Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. “You really mean it don’t you?” Jack asked with a grin. “You owe me when we get back to the ship, you know that don’t you luv?” Jack said as he pulled a beautiful gold ring from his jacket. “Jack…” She gasped. “No one’s going to come after me, claiming I stole their ring are they?” She laughed. With that, they walked into the church.
