When they arrived in the large conference room on the third floor, James was surprised to see some of the top people of the international spy world. M walked right in, stood at the head of the table, plugged in her laptop and turned on the video projector.
“Welcome everyone”, she began, “I assume you have all been briefed on the matter at hand, so let’s get down to business.” M started the presentation, clicking through each slide cautiously, making sure everyone was getting the information. A picture of a light-skinned male with dark curly hair came up on the screen. James instantly recognized him.
“This was our contact in Morocco”, M said. “His name is Tavares, and we sent him there six months ago to tie up some loose ends. Not only was he feeding us false information and working for the other side, but he was double crossing them, and furthering his own agenda. It appears as if he was playing both sides for fools.” The next slide came up on the screen and in it was the man with two other men and a woman in white lab coats exchanging money for small packages.
“Tavares was smuggling infertility drugs into Morocco, and selling them on the black market to local clinics.” Another slide appeared with dozens of dead women, of all ages, stacked on top of each other.
“However, what he failed to recognize was that these drugs contain high levels of Hz-10, and, if not administered correctly, can be fatale.” M glanced up at the screen, “well, obviously.” Some of the agents began to squirm in their seats.
“So, what do we do?” James asked impatiently.
“I was just coming to that OO7”, M replied as she sat down. “Well, the tricky bit is, that Tavares has completely disappeared from our radar. We need to act fast, taking extreme precautions, and our best agents need to be involved.”
Natasha Clémon, the delegate from France jumped in.
“Well, M, it would seem to me that your agency failed to be cautious in the first place, therefore, your agency should be responsible for the clean up.”
“Oh, come now Miss Clémon, can your country really be that heartless?” Began Delanos, the representative from Spain. “It is up to all of us to help, and M, you can count on us.”
There was a general agreement from the others in the room, and M felt the load on her shoulders lighten just a bit.
