Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Why Did You?
Jessica tried to pull away from Van Helsing. She remembered that she needed to find Van Helsing get his help and kill her parents. She knew she couldn't become emotionally involved with him.
"I will take you to the castle soon. You just rest up some." Van Helsing said removing his hands from her shoulders. He walked out of the room.
Jessica watched him go. She let out a shaky sigh. She walked back over to the bed and she quickly took her leather boots off. She laid down on the bed trying to get some rest, but her mind was constantly on Van Helsing. She closed her eyes and quickly opened them hearing a werewolf howl at the moon. She sat up and brought her knees to her chest. She bit her lip in worry just hoping that the werewolves weren't going to come near them.
There was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" She asked getting up slowly.
"Van Helsing."
"I thought you were leaving to go get some sleep?"
"May I come in?"
"Yes." She said softly looking up at the door as she sat back down the way she was before Van Helsing scared her to her feet.
Van Helsing came into the room. "Are you sure you are going to be fine in here by yourself? There is werewolves running around tonight." He saw the look in her pale blue eyes. "Do you want me to stay here with you?"
She looked up into his brown eyes. "I am sure I will be quite fine Mr. Van Helsing."
"If you say so Miss... your last name again..." He said taking a seat next to her.
"I never said." She said softly not looking at him. She was looking out the window at the full moon.
"Please give me your last name."
"It's Kolozsvár."
"Jessica Kolozsvár? Beautiful name."
She looked at him. "Yes, but it is a hard name to remember." She said tucking a blonde strand of hair behind her ear.
"I would understand with the name of Kolozsvár."
"So you killed Dracula?"
Van Helsing nodded his head. "I sure did. But I didn't see your parents when I killed him."
Jessica took a deep breath. "They've been hunting me for years."
"Why would they be hunting you for years."
"When Dracula came her took my parents turned them into vampires. He never asked if they had a daughter he just took them. I decided to travel to find Dracula's castle. They went to find me and I was gone. Dracula wanted me as his bride. Number four I believe."
Van Helsing seemed to have leaned forward to move another stand of hair behind her ear. "You're lucky that I killed him."
"Am I? I still lost my parents in all of this mess." She said her eyes not even looking at him any more. They were more focused on the bed then anything else.
"But there is no way to save them."
"They are blood sucking vampires I know Helsing."
He put his finger under her chin and brought her eyes level with his. "I promise you everything will be alright." He said placing a small kiss on her forehead. He got up and left the room.
Jessica watched him go. She knew that she couldn't sleep now. She had Van Helsing more on her mind then she did before. This was going to be hard on her more then before.
