Tough Decisions
Why is it always so hard? Waiting that hour, between when I awake and waiting for night to fall, for the boys to wake up. I usually step just outside the cave to soak up the last warmth of the day, sitting there, feeling the last of the sun tingle on my skin. I always wonder, 'Why? Why haven't I taken that last step?'. I love them, right? I want to be with them. I know I do!
But always, I hold back, I won't kill. I know I can, I did once before and it was nothing... If anything, I felt happy that day, because it marked my freedom.
I sigh softly as I wiggle my toes in the sand, taking a moment to step away from my deep thoughts so admire the setting sun, as it slides silently below the horizon. They will be up soon, I need to go brush my hair and get ready. Maybe tonight will do? I smile as I stand and brush the sand from my jeans and walk back into the cave, Listening carefully for any sound of them as I tip-toe over to the fountain and pick up my hair brush from were I left it. Yes... I smile to myself as I run the brush through my hair. Tonight will do. As I set the brush down I hear them behind me, Letting the glow of my final decision show in my smile as I turn to them.
"Tonight, I think." I murmur softly as I look them over.
"Girl, If I had a dime for every time you said that..." Paul's tone is sarcastic but half joking, Marko smacks him on the shoulder.
"You'd have 40 cents, Paul. Give her a break. It took you two weeks!" Marko snickers as he playfully smacks Paul again, Dwayne just shakes his head at them, a small smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth.
"Boys, chill." David's tone silences them, I take the moment to step over and grab my jacket off a nearby chair, pausing to slip it on before turning back to David.
"Can we go?" I ask him directly, my voice quiet as I hold my hand out to him, he smirks.
"Yah, let's go, come on boys..." He takes my hand and leads us out of the cave and into the night.
