chapter 3
A/n: OK so my muse egged me on and made me continue this little tale, also decided to get a little sappy, but not too much. ;) Something tells me my muse wont let this story end here, but I'm done with it for now.......
She awoke sometime in the middle of the night, her head resting on Jack’s shoulder, hand lying comfortably over his heart. She smiled as she watched his face in the moonlight, he looked so innocent, so sweet, so content, she laughed to herself at the thought. She inhaled deeply, filling her senses with his scent. The same scent that used to repulse her, now calmed her and comforted her. Funny how things had changed. She really did love him, but if he wouldn’t say it so neither would she. There was a time when his actions told her that he loved her, without question. However recently he had been spending a great many nights at the helm, leaving her alone to wonder how he truly felt. Tonight had been different. The lack of wind and the crews desire to celebrate, whatever it was they were celebrating, had allowed them the opportunity to spend some much needed time together. Once you factored in the rum, they ended up entwined as they currently were. She was merely thankful she hadn’t had to spend the night without him again, god how she adored him, damned as she was for feeling so.
Unable to fall back to sleep and unwilling to leave his side she placed a light kiss on his cheek. She could swear she saw the corners of his lips twitch when she did so. Suspicious, she spoke very quietly into his ear, “are you awake Jack?” He didn’t flinch but let out a short snore just moments later. She smiled to herself. He was such a trickster, but she knew just how to get his attention. She slowly moved her hand down his chest, tracing small meaningless patterns as her hand trailed along. She could hear his breathing steadily increasing, indicating he was slightly more conscious than he was letting on.
She smiled, knowing damn well he was awake. If he didn’t want to willingly admit it, she would get him to soon enough. She trailed her hand lower, reaching for his slowly awaking counterpart who seemed to be more alert than the ‘sleeping’ man to which it was attached. She slowly wrapped her fingers around it, and began stroking ever so slowly, coaxing it to life with just the right movements and pressure, all the while her eyes watched his face for a reaction and a sign of life. She watched as his face contorted as her pressure and speed increased and that’s when she decided to be truly evil and returned her hand to its original location. Then she whispered, “Shame to have you in such a state when there’s nothing you can do to correct the situation, I’ll just be going back to sleep now,” and she let out a false yawn knowing it would only be a matter of seconds before he replied.
He slowly licked his lips, hoping she wasn’t watching, but knowing better. “Ye are an evil lass, ye know that?”
Her head popped up at his words. “Whatever do you mean Jack?” She was as playful as she ever was. She wanted to enjoy his company not dwell on her paranoid thoughts any longer.
“His eyes opened and suddenly met hers, “Ye know damn well what I mean Lizbeth.”
“Maybe you better show me.” She whispered it to him seductively and then brought her lips to his in a passionate exchange.
“Ye are rather feisty tonight luv. ’M rather enjoying it!” With that he repositioned himself over her and reclaimed her lips.
“Well I figure I have to give you a reason to stop spending so many nights at the helm.” She stated it in between kisses, she hadn’t actually meant to say it but it was still pulling at her brain and somehow slipped out. It was clearly enough to get his mind going and he started to wonder if the little jibs she had been taking at him weren’t something more. Somehow his blasted honest streak was getting in the way of his most favorite activity. He stopped everything and looked at her.
“Is that what this is about?” He questioned, she had been slightly more forthcoming with him tonight than usual, but he just blamed it on the rum.
“What?” She asked, clearly faking confusion at his question and wishing he would shut up and continue with their current rendezvous. She sensed disaster if a conversation were to actually occur.
“Ye think ye need to seduce me to keep me here with you?”
Her eyes looked away. Truthfully, she had been wondering about it but when he vocalized it she realized how ridiculous it sounded. “Jack, I…”
He cut her off with a finger across her lips. “I’ve been at the helm Lizbeth ‘cause I don’t trust me crew in these waters, s‘dangerous, don’t want to lose me ship or you.” He paused momentarily, as if willing himself to say what he was thinking, “I don’t ever want ye thinking that I only spend time with ye because yer pleasurable company. This might be the most un-pirate like think I’ve ever said, but Lizbeth, yer the only woman I’ve ever shared me cabin with, the only woman I’ve ever spent an entire night sleeping beside, and the only woman I ever plan on letting anywhere near me person ever again, naked or otherwise, savvy?” He was dead serious too, and the look in his eyes sent shivers up and down her spine. She had to fight away the tears that came to her eyes. He kissed her then, wrapping the unspoken “I love you” and everything else into it. He moved to kiss each of her eyes and then met her mouth one more time, as if he felt he needed to confirm his statement more ardently. "Do ye understand me luv?"
When he pulled away she smiled widely at him. “I always knew Jack, but I was beginning to doubt.” She admitted and swallowed the lump in her throat that she didn’t even realize she had, “I swear ill never doubt it again.” She kissed him. “I feel like such a jerk.”
“Good.”
She glared at him, “that you’ll never doubt it luv, not that you’re a jerk,“ he was quick to defend. He met her eyes, the playfulness returning to them, “Now do ye think ye can assist me with a certain problem I be having thanks to a certain lass who thinks she’s funny?”
“Whatever do you mean?” She smiled coyly at him.
Playing along he ground his hips against hers briefly and as he began to speak he plunged himself deep within her, “did ye figure it out yet?” He smirked at her and met her lips, before gradually trailing his lips along her body. Kissing any part of her he could as he moved his hips slowly within her.
“Jack?” She spoke as he was kissing her neck.
He stopped and looked her, slightly confused, that wasn’t the normal tone she used when she said his name during this.
“I…” she paused as if she was hesitant to speak her mind, but his eyes and movements encouraged her, “I…God Jack.” He had started swaying his hips a bit when he moved into her, and it derailed her thoughts.
“I always thought meself to be a god when it came to certain things.” He smirked at her, then felt her wrap her legs even tighter around him, pulling him as deep as possible within her, eliciting a grunt from him.
A few more movements and he pulsed hot and warm within her, felt her contract around him. He pulled her with him, laying on his back and enjoying the after effects of their activities. After some time he spoke, “what did ye want to tell me?”
She blushed, “Nothing.”
“Lizzie, I bared me soul to ye just before. Nothing ye can say can be that bad. Now out with it.”
“Its not bad.” She immediately defended. “I just don’t know how you’ll react to it.”
“Yer not pregnant are ye?”
“NO!” She instantly responded, terrified of the idea and the restrictions it could bring to their lifestyle.
“Then its not that bad.” He smirked at her, relief clearly on his face.
“If I tell ye, ye have to promise me ye won’t get mad.”
“Lizbeth. I couldn’t get mad at ye if I wanted to. Mad requires energy, something I’m currently without as a result of a rather young energetic lass who keeps ravishing me body over and over tonight, not that ‘m complaining of course, merely pointing it out as a matter of fact and hoping it happens again.” He smirked at her.
“Jack.”
“Aye.”
“I love you.” There she’d said it, and it felt that much better to actually vocalize her feelings and admit it to him.
He smiled at her and pulled her closer, so they were nose to nose. “That’s it?” He asked voice clearly amused. She nodded her head at him in response and met his eyes. “I knew that already.”
She frowned at his conceit and turned her back on him. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back to rest against his chest. She didn’t have the energy to fight him so she let him stay, although she was a little hurt that he could be so arrogant, especially since she had never told anyone that, and she had been so nervous about actually vocalizing it to him at this point.
“Lizbeth,” he spoke his lips pressed into her ear, “I feel the same way.” He kissed the back of her head, and felt the tension leave her body. They both drifted off into a peaceful sleep having exhausted themselves physically and emotionally.
