Rage Against the Dying of the Light

This chapter was supposed to be just Pogue and Caleb, but I decided to go ahead and get into the meat of the story, because the two oldest Ipswich boys are being irritating and not cooperating with me. Bleh on them.

Disclaimer-I own nothing but a few insignificant characters here and there that you don't recognize from the movie. I also don't own the poem at the beginning of this.

Chapter Three-Rage Against the Dying of the Light
----
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

The wind whipped around them as they stood on the cliff above the Dells, three when they should be four.

It was no surprise to any of the Sons who was missing. Reid was notorious for being late, and most times he made Tyler late as well...which never made Caleb happy.

“Where is he?” Caleb sighed and slid his hands into the pockets of his jeans, hunching his shoulders as the wind got fiercer. The bonfires he could see below looked inviting as hell, but the group was incomplete, and so they would stay on the cliff until his Royal Highness Reid Garwin decided to show.
Caleb hoped that Reid showed soon, and judging Tyler and Pogue's expressions, they did too.

If it wasn't for the blond Son they would be warming up and partying with the rest of the student body.

“Hello boys.” Caleb stiffened at the voice, even as Pogue and Tyler towards it, looking glad to see the blond.

Who was forty minutes late, per usual.

Caleb clenched his hands into fists, glad that said hands were hidden in his jacket.

“Where were you, I stopped by to give you a ride?” Tyler glared at Reid. Reid may be his best friend, and he loved the teen like a Brother, but the party held alcohol, and the youngest Son could feel the need for oblivion running through his blood. The later they were, the less he would be able to drink.

Which tended to piss Tyler off.

Reid smirked and shrugged, seemingly unconcerned with the fact that he had made his Brother's wait so he could get some tail. “Sorry baby boy, had things to do.” The blond moved towards edge of the cliff, kicking a few rocks off as he peered down. “How's the party?”

Caleb glared at him. How would they know?! They were stuck on the cliff waiting on his dumbass! Pogue seemed to recognize his thoughts and put a hand on his shoulder. He leaned towards Caleb. “Easy Man. Its over, just let it go.”

That was Pogue, always knowing how to get Caleb to calm down.

That was why they were best friends after all.

He was also the only one who knew exactly how much Reid got under Caleb's skin.

“Well hell boys, let's drop in!” Reid laughed and leapt off the cliff, causing Caleb to groan, knowing what was coming next.

Sure enough, Tyler laughed, his eyes flashed, and with a happy “Shit Yeah!” he went backwards over the cliff.

“TYLER!” It was bad enough Reid using for every little thing, but it was too much when he dragged the youngest Son into it as well. Pogue clapped him on the shoulder and smiled, the excitement of Using seeming to get into him as well.

“Come on Man, its not like its going to kill us....yet!” With that Pogue joined the other two and leapt off the cliff.

Caleb sighed, and jumped after them.

After all, they didn't exactly leave him a choice.

-----
The party was in full swing when the Son's of Ipswich finally made their way into the midst of it and Tyler grinned, seeing the beer bottles and red plastics cups around.

Clear evidence of the alcohol that was his for the taking. He could barely contain himself from rubbing his hands in glee as he headed for the open keg he spotted.

Open Kegs meant free beer, and lots of it.

Tyler clapped Reid on the shoulder and headed towards the keg, smiling and waving at the few Spencer students who noticed him. He didn't stop for idle chat, or to find out who was sleeping with who that week

He wanted the beer.

And he finally got it.

The first swallow hit his tongue like a fine chocolate and he smirked slowly, fully enjoying the yeasty taste. While he might enjoy harder liquors, there was still something about beer that felt like coming home.

He knew that meant he was an alcoholic, but it didn't interfere with his life and so to him wasn't worth mentioning to anyone else.

Tyler turned around, holding his cup protectively, and started to head back towards the rest of the Ipswich boys.....

Until he saw Kate and Pogue in a liplock that shouldn't have been seen in Public.

He promptly turned on his heel and went towards the keg again.

He was going to need it.

----
Chase watched them, the gleam of jealousy bright in his eyes.

It wasn't fair.

He should have grown up with people who knew what It was, who could have told him what the effects were before he was so far gone that he could do nothing about it.

He should have known the truth.

But instead, he was raised by people who were not his blood, by people who didn't know and could never know about the sheer POWER that he possessed, and he began to despise them for it.

But not as much as he despised the four boys in front of him.

They would pay for what had been done to them, and they would pay dearly.

Starting with the youngest.

Chase smiled to himself and picked his cup back up, making his way towards the youngest Son of Ipswich.

This was going to be fun.
