Betrayal
The morning light stung my eyes upon waking. I had no idea how early it was but my head hurt worst than any physical pain I'd ever felt before. My eyes burned from the harsh light of day and I closed them quickly, still tired, and more than willing to go back to sleep for several or more hours.
Johnny's arm wasn't around me anymore and I was distraught, but figured he had just rolled over during some point of the night and was now sleeping soundly next to me. The thought to close the window and block out the light had occurred to me many times, but I couldn't bring myself to rise from the comforts of the bed. In my current state, that seemed like a lot of work and I wasn't willing to put up the effort.
I had just begun to doze off again when there was a rapid bang on the door that, in my hung over state, sounded like a shotgun going off next to my ear.
“Get the hell up woman!” Someone bellowed loudly after slamming the door into the wall and entering without my given permission. “It's already the ass crack of noon and we gotta catch a flight outta this shit hole in a couple of hours!”
I didn't bother to open my eyes. I'd know that voice anywhere. It was Bam. “Fuck you, man.” I grumbled, wondering why Johnny hadn't kicked his ass yet, or at least threatened to.
“Oh really?” He replied, and I forced open my eyes, shielding them from the light with my arm. “I had some nice morning wood earlier, I'm sure I could get it back up if you want.”
Bam jumped onto the bed, causing my body and all of the covers to go flopping around. “Are you naked?” He asked, seeing my bare shoulders, arms and legs sticking out from beneath the covers.
“Yes!” I yelped, slapping away his hand after he'd lifted up the blanket a bit to take a peak underneath.
“Are you going to let him talk to me like that?!” I yelled, flailing my arm behind me and hoping to hit Johnny. Thats when I realized that there was no one beside me but Bam.
“Who are you talking to?” He asked, staring at me with wide, confused blue eyes.
I spun over quickly, making sure to hold the covers close so I wouldn't be exposed. “Where's Jo-” I stopped myself, not ready or wanting Bam to find out about what had happened between Johnny and I the night before.
“Where's who?” Bam asked, looking around the room as if he were missing something important.
With squinted eyes I turned to him and said “Nobody.” before wrapping the sheet around me and grabbing some underwear out of my suitcase. Bam lied back on the bed and turned on the T.V, blasting cartoons so loudly that I could hear them over the sound of the running shower.
My mind raced. Why would Johnny just up and leave me like that in the middle of the night? It wasn't like him, at least, I thought it wasn't. I didn't know him all that well, but experience from the last month or so told me It wasn't like him. I began to worry. What if something went wrong? What if it was something I did? I'd have to find out from Bam when I got out of the shower.
“Bam?” I asked, toweling off my dark wet hair with a soft white towel. His eyes jumped from the blasted cartoons to my slender figure carousing around the room in nothing but a robe.
“What Angel?” Bam turned the down the T.V so that I was actually able to talk to him without having to scream.
“Where are the boys today?” I had to generalize. I couldn't just say 'Where is Johnny?' or I'd give myself away. Although, to be perfectly honest I could care less where anyone was but Johnny.
“I dunno,” he shrugged. “Everyone's around. I think Dunn is down in the pool with Preston and Wee man, and Johnny and Jeff are in the bar with Steve-O and Pontius again.”
Bam jumped up from the bed after turning the T.V off. “In fact, that's where I'm heading now. Johnny and I hate to fly so we always get drunk before hand.”
Bam grabbed my head with both hands and squeezed as hard as he could, causing my face to take on a fish like appearance. “Why don't you get dressed and come join us, huh kid?” He said before moving my head up and down despite my resistance, to signify that I was agreeing. “That's my good girl.” Bam smiled and then kissed me hard on the lips before pushing me down onto the bed and sauntering out of the room very cockily.
The door slammed shut and I still lied there, sprawled out on my mattress and wondering what was happening with my life. I loved how I hadn't agreed to anything, yet I was somehow expected, if not obligated to go downstairs and face not only Johnny, but all of the boys.
Reluctantly, I slipped on something to wear; a tight white sun dress because I was too lazy and hung over to put actual clothes on. I had been saving this dress for a special dinner or something along those lines, but I had begun to highly doubt I'd get that chance while working with the Jackass crew.
Slowly but surely I made my way down the hall and into the elevators. The bright light caused my eyes to sting and I hoped to god that my mascara wouldn't run. I had to admit that I had fun the night before, but hangovers like I was experiencing now made me want to quit drinking forever.
The Lobby of the hotel was bustling at this time of the day, everyone was moving about, leaving for the day to explore the nearby parts of Japan. There was hardly anyone inside of the bar at noon. When I finally made it to the doorway and peaked into one of the stained glass windows, I could see only a few old men who had left their wives in the salon for the evening, and the boys.
Bam was already drunk, I could tell. He was the loudest noise to be heard from the bar to Ryan, Preston and Wee man messing around in the pool down the hall.
"Angel!" Was the first thing I heard after struggling to push open the heavy glass doors, and I was surprised at myself; normally I was a lot stronger than that, but the impact of the hang over had sucked away all of my body strength. The inside was shockingly bright for the depths of a bar, and my eyes squinted tightly until they were almost closed in order to survey my surroundings.
Looking around after they had finally adjusted to the obnoxious illuminations, I discovered a few of my friends and colleagues sitting around the bar; beer mugs and shot glasses at hand - I could tell by the upbeat atmosphere that they had already drank their fair share despite the time of day.
I approached them slowly, my body not willing to move at a pace faster than sloth. At the very end of the bar was Pontius, sitting quietly with a half empty glass of beer. He looked strait forward with wide eyes, obviously bored with no one to talk to due to the fact that he was sitting next to Steve-O.
Steve-O sat slouched over with his head down on the counter. Eyes closed, and barely holding onto a shot glass that sat teetering on the edge of the bar; he was slightly drooling on his arm, and as far as I could tell, passed out already.
Jeff sat in between Steve and Bam. He was as handsome as ever, even more so now that the alcohol had begun to warm his body and loosen him up; his cheeks a glowing red and skin a brilliant olive. He was smiling broadly with bright, perfect white teeth, and listening very closely to something Bam was going on about.
Mr. Margera was hardly sitting on his stool due to the fact that he bounced around like a super ball thrown down a hallway. He had a shot glass in his hand with a bit of liquid still in it, but flailed his arms about to overemphasize whatever point it was he was trying to prove; he would without a doubt be spilling the rest of it sometime soon.
Finally my eyes reached the end of the bar where Johnny sat wearing his infamous aviator glasses and to my dismay, covering the sparkling brown eyes I remembered so vividly from the night before. Obviously suffering from a hangover as horrible as mine; he was at the bar trying to cure it the best way he knew how - more alcohol
Everyone but Johnny turned and greeted me with a smile. He, on the other hand, merely turned slightly, looking at me for about a second before turning back to the bartender and finishing off what remained in a glass filled with something golden.
"Why hello, hello everyone." I said cockily, sauntering over to them like I was the sexiest thing in the world. Stepping next to Jeff, I took his chin in my hand before saying "How are my handsome men doing this afternoon?" and then giving him a peck on the cheek.
"Great now that you're here." Jeff said, winking and then playfully slapping me on the behind, the force sending my feeble body lunging forward and into Bam.
"Hi beautiful." He greeted me, putting a thick, tattooed arm around my waist and pulling me into him. Johnny's head tilted quickly down and in the direction of my middle. Upon seeing Bam's hand grasping firmly at my hips, his fist and teeth clenched. A rather loud and obnoxious crack from his knuckles spilled into the air.
"Hi Johnny." I smiled at him broadly, expecting a warmer greeting than I had received before.
"Hey." He replied, not bothering to smile or even acknowledge my presence after that, but turning back to the bartender and tapping the counter top for another drink instead.
I was taken back by his reaction. Johnny had never treated me like this before, and nothing had changed between us besides the fact that we shared one intimate night together. I grabbed Bam's hand and removed it from my waist.
"I'll see you guys later," I said in their general direction, crossing my arms over my chest in defense and not wanting to be in that bar or anywhere close to Johnny Knoxville. "I'm gonna go hang out with Ryan and the guys at the pool." Everyone turned to say goodbye, everyone but Johnny.
"I'll come with you." Bam said, grabbing the wallet out of his back pocket, he threw a twenty down onto the counter and proceeded after me. Bam slid his hand into my back pocket and then opened the door for me after pulling the hood of his sweatshirt up and over his head.
Johnny's arm wasn't around me anymore and I was distraught, but figured he had just rolled over during some point of the night and was now sleeping soundly next to me.
