Let The Guilty Pay

Chapter 3: Let The Guilty Pay

A/N: Sassy Sparrow…I’m so glad you liked the new chapter! And yes Will should definitely be punished! Not to worry…he will be! Jack will see to it! He takes them to Shipwreck Cove to find out what the Code says about how to resolve the situation. Let me know what you think!

Disclaimer: I still don’t own POTC or Jack Sparrow…unfortunately…and I make no money from this story. But the reviews I get are payment enough!

Jack’s dark eyes shifted over to his bed to see Elizabeth was still sleeping peacefully. A smile stretched across his face as he watched the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she slept. She looked like an angel laying there in the middle of his bed the blanket pulled up to her neck. He stretched rubbing his lower back as he stood up. Sleeping in the chair at his table had not been very comfortable but he would do it all over again as long as Elizabeth was comfortable and felt safe. Elizabeth shifted onto her side whimpering a little as she did. Jack tiptoed over to the bedside and bent down so that his face was eye level with hers. God she was so beautiful to him. Reaching out he gently brushed away the strand of hair that had begun falling over her forehead. Elizabeth smiled in her sleep as she mumbled softly.

“Jack.”

He smiled as he leaned over and pressed a light kiss to her forehead before standing back up.

“That’s right darling…m’ here.”

Now he had some business to attend to. With a frown he walked over to the door and opened it as quietly as he could. Shutting it just as quietly he walked down below deck towards the brig. Down in the brig Jack could hear Will yelling to be let out.

“Jack! Let me out of here!”

Arriving at the brig doors Jack stood there with his arms folded across his broad chest as he glared at Will. Will returned the glare with just as much hatred as Jack had shown him.

“Sleep well Master Turner?”

“Go to hell Jack!”

“No thanks…jus’ got back from there…I think I’ll stay awhile.”

“Where’s Elizabeth?”

“Elizabeth is none of yer concern mate.”

“I love her Jack…she’s my only concern!”

“Really? Because it seems t’ me that ye wouldn’t have done what ye did t’ her if that were the case. But being that ye did do what ye did t’ her makes me believe ye didn’t give a damn bout what ye did t’ her.”

Will stared at him wide eyed as he tried his best to decipher Jack’s riddled way of communicating. Feeling more confused than before Jack had come to see him he shook his head.

“Jack…where is she?”

“That’s not important right now…but what is important is what m’ going t’ do with ye.”

“Do with me?”

“Aye…ye have t’ be punished for sure.”

“Punished? For taking what is mine?”

“Elizabeth isn’t yers mate…she’s not some piece of property ye can jus’ claim as yer own. Ye have t’ treat her like the rare gem that she is.”

Will snorted indignantly as he rolled his eyes.

“I can’t believe I’m getting lectured on how to treat a woman by a pirate. This is ridiculous!”

“No what’s ridiculous is the fact that ye pretend t’ be this perfect gentleman…when really yer more of a scallywag than I could ever be. Now that Elizabeth has seen yer true form…or rather…felt it…m’ sure that she will be quite finished with ye.”

“Elizabeth loves me.”

“Ah…but she loves me as well.”

“She’s confused…she only feels guilty about killing you…and so now she feels obligated to care for you. She doesn’t love you Jack.”

“Ye hope she only feels an obligation t’ me an’ that she doesn’t really love me. Because if she loves me then where does that leave ye?”

“Right where I belong…in her heart.”

“Oh ye lost yer place in her heart the moment ye decided t’ take what she had not yet offered.”

Hanging his head Will leaned against the cold iron bars of the brig.

“I had no choice…she had to be reminded of everything that she was about to throw away! And for what…a good for nothing pirate who would quickly lose interest in her after bedding her?”

Jack reached out and grabbed Will’s throat through the bars yanking him roughly up against them.

“Do not speak of things that ye know nothing of boy! Ye shall be punished for what ye have done t’ Elizabeth…that I shall personally see t’ Turner!”

“And just what exactly are you going to do to me?”

“That’s an interesting question boy…well I could always jus’ do what Barbossa did t’ yer old man an’ strap yer bootstraps t’ a canon an’ send ye t’ the depths.”

“You heartless bastard!”

“But then again…that’s not very original now is it? No…yer punishment has t’ be something much more painful. That’s why we’re taking a trip t’ Shipwreck Cove.”

“Why there?”

“T’ have a looksy t’ see what the Code has t’ say bout yer little misdeed.”

“The Code doesn’t apply t’ me Jack…I’ve never claimed t’ be a pirate.”

“Claimed t’ be one or not…ye are one boy. So yes…in fact the Code does apply t’ ye.”

“I hate you! I wish that Elizabeth would have never laid eyes on you!”

“Then m’ afraid yer dearly beloved would be lying at the bottom of the harbor in Port Royal long dead.”

“She’s better off dead than with you!”

“Really? Not quite sure she’d see it that way mate.”

“Leave me alone!”

“Suit yerself…I was jus’ trying t’ keep ye company.”

“No thanks…I’d rather do without your company.”

“Fine by me…see ye when we reach Shipwreck Cove.”

Jack strode back up towards the main deck leaving Will to his thoughts down in the dark and damp brig. He walked briskly towards the wheel deck where Gibbs was at the helm.

“Mr. Gibbs!”

“Aye Captain?”

“Set a course for Shipwreck Cove immediately!”

“Aye sir. Why Shipwreck Cove?”

“I have a resolute an’ unyielding need t’ see my father an’ take a looksy at the Code.”

Nodding Gibbs turned the wheel to the right so that they now headed north towards Shipwreck Cove. Something must be awfully important if Jack wanted to see his father. Jack strode towards the very rear of his ship when he heard a woman’s laughter coming from just behind his cabin. Turning the corner he found Elizabeth sitting cross legged on the deck watching Ragetti juggle three apples. A smile stretched across his bronzed face as he watched her. When she smiled it was like seeing heaven. He would give anything to keep that smile on her face for the rest of her life.

(JACK’S THOUGHTS)
‘Jus’ look at her…the picture of perfection…an’ she’s in love with me. Who ever said good things don’t happen t’ not so good people? If that were true then it wouldn’t be possible for this angel t’ love me…an’ yet she does. She’s like freedom…home t’ me…she’s where I always want t’ be. Jack ye fool…ye’ve gone an’ let yerself fall in love! That’s the quickest way t’ get yerself killed mate! Unless…we’ve already covered that ground…so perhaps I have nothing t’ worry bout? Except keeping that maggot Turner away from her. I swear I’ll run him through meself!’

Elizabeth’s voice shattered Jack’s thoughts when she called out to him.

“Jack! Jack look here…look at what Ragetti can do!”

“Yes love…I see.”

“Can you do any tricks?”

“ ‘Fraid not love…m’ only trick is a good disappearing act when the time calls for it.”

She laughed as she beckoned for him to join her. Jack swaggered over and took a seat on the deck next to her. He smiled when she scooted closer and laid her head on his shoulder.

“Ye seem better today love?”

“Because I have you to protect me.”

“Aye love…an’ ye will always have me t’ protect ye…as long as ye’ll have me.”

“Well then it’s forever.”

Jack smiled as he leaned his head on Elizabeth’s. Forever…now that was something he could definitely live for.

A/N: Okay so Jack is headed to Shipwreck Cove to seek the punishment for Will’s crime. Should we kill him? I’m kinda leaning towards it! Let me know!
