Chapter 3

Chapter 3.

Will behaved himself for two days after being tied to the figurehead. Jack had been very impressed with Will’s good behavior that he allowed the whelp to be on deck with him, though he had to stay by Jack’s side. It was late in the second day the Will finally asked the question that had been plaguing him.

“Where are we going?”

Jack had looked at him as if he had never seen him before. “What do you mean?” Jack squinted his eyes as if that would change what he was seeing. “You mean in our relationship?”

Will flinched at that and frowned. “No Jack. Where are we, meaning you, the crew and I going, meaning where is our destination?”

“Oh that.” Jack returned his gaze to the horizon, and pointed with his left hand. “That way.”

Will stared in disbelief that Jack would answer his question in such a way. He wanted to know where they were heading and was determined to receive the proper answer. He thought of all the ways that he would normally go about getting information for Jack k and frowned knowing that none of those would work on Jack. He thought of what Elizabeth would do and blushed as he actually considered it. Sighing in his head he forced a coy smile on to his lips and pretended to be Elizabeth.

“Jack,” The pirate grunted in shock as Will’s tone became playful. The work roughened hands slid over his shoulders and started rubbing his neck. Will leaned forward until his lips were just touching the shell of Jack’s ear. “Where are we heading?” His voice nothing more then a whisper caressed Jack’s ear in a taunting kiss.

“We are heading up river.” Jack responded automatically.

Will rubbed harder, relaxing Jack’s muscles, and tried again. “Why are we heading up river? What are we going to do there?”

Will flinched as he realized his last question sounded very naughty, though Jack luckily didn’t notice Will’s annoyance with himself. He moaned and pushed his hips against the slightly taller man. “We are going to meet an old friend. She has answers that I need.”

Will smiled, knowing that Jack was putty in his hands. He placed a soft kiss on Jack’s temples and breathed against the tanned neck before him. “Thank you Jack.” Will pulled away and couldn’t help but blush as he noticed that Gibbs was watching him with a raised eyebrow. “I’m suddenly tired… I think I’ll go lie down.”

He speed away from the foredeck, not knowing that Jack smiled and turned to his quartermaster. “I think I’ll join him.”

Gibbs smiled, knowing that he wouldn’t see his captain for a while, once he was hidden away in his cabin. He really hoped that the lad had known what he was doing, it was never smart to seduce a pirate with not intentions to follow through. He smirked, took a swig of rum .

Jack had stopped to retrieve some food for his boy, Marty had caught a couple peacocks when they were still on the island, he had kept the creatures alive for meat, and only that morning he had killed the first one. It smelt great, and Jack was excited about sharing the meat with Will, hopefully before too long Will would be begging for a different sort of meat.

*~*~*~*~*
Will sat by the window, watching as the sun set, the light turning the water into a sea of gold. He had worked himself to near exhaustion, taking on any job, trying to earn money for Elizabeth… The Governor had confided in his that Elizabeth was custom to a certain life style, and that he as her father would be happy to help them, give them a monthly allowance. His pride had not allowed that, true he was a simple black smith but he would provide for his wife and whatever family they would have.

Before the wedding he worked constantly only taking breaks to visit with Elizabeth and to sleep. He had taken her for a walk down the beach, she had kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot across the sand, smiling at him. It had been near sunset, turning the water to gold and adding gold and bronze to her lovely hair. This ocean of gold reminded him of that, he felt a longing to be back there, on that beach just watching her.

Jack entered silently, his gaze landed on an empty be, he frowned. Where was his boy. A small movement by the window caught his attention, Will stood with his back to Jack, from the position of the lads shoulders he knew that Will was upset about something. Jack took a guess but he was pretty sure that his boy was mourning over his tramp fiancé.

Jack stood behind him, after setting the tray of food on the table. He pulled back the sun kissed hair and laid a gentle kiss on the golden cheek. “Do you want me to get you something shiny?”

The lad jumped, having not noticed Jack was there. “Jack!”

“Will!”

“I know you don’t like me talking about her, so I wont.”

“You know her father will never let her swing, she’ll be fine.”

Will sighed. “Cuttler Becket seems to always be ahead of us.” Will escaped from Jack’s embrace and moved across the great cabin. “I don’t think we’ll get out of this one Jack.”

“Did you say Cuttler Becket?” Will nodded, Jack rubbed his right arm and glared. “He’s the one who arrested you?”

Will looked up. “Yes, he wanted me to return with your compass, offered you a full pardon.” Will eyed Jack, as if he expected him to start singing at any moment. “Privateer under employ of the crown of England.”

“And what of you and your lass?”

“I’m sorry?”

“What did he offer you.”

Will thought about that, Jack watched as it dawned on him. “Nothing, he spoke of nothing for either Elizabeth or myself.”

“Then you returning there with myself or my compass would mean sending yourself to the gallows.” Jack sat on the bed. “Which would be incredibly stupid. Not conductive at all for a long life.”

“Then I have to save her! If she is doomed to the gallows either way then I cannot just sit here and let her swing!”

“Stop.” Jack held up a ringed hand, Will noticing for the first time the bandage that wrapped it. “We first head to Tia Dalma. She has answers we need. Once we have, then we will know the way to save her.”

“Why not go and break her out of jail first?”

“As I said that would be incredibly stupid. Nothing good will come from you stepping foot in Port Royal until we can exterminate the weasel that has infested it. Savvy?”

“You know him.”

Two sets of brown eyes meet, Jack’s lip twitched. He pulled back his sleeve showing off the ‘P’ brand. “Aye I know him. The East India Trading company were hired out to capture pirate and brand them, so everyone would know what they were.” Jack swept his hand down his body. “Really difficult don’t you agree?”

Will felt his lips twitch in a smile.

“Your dad and I were…” He looked at the younger man, “I was out looking for whores and your dad was trying to stop me. We knock over this little bastard, completely on accident of course, and the next thing we know we’re escaping from the East India Trading Company, with brand new shiny brands.”

“He had on in his office at Port Royal. I think he was threatening to brand me.”

Jack glared, he understood the significance of that even if the whelp was oblivious. “Listen to me, do not let Becket or his man whore Mercer get their hands on you. There are worse things then dying.”

Fierce determination covered the older mans face and brought whatever Will had been about to say short. The darkness in the pirate’s eyes was frightening, and he feared that he had trapped himself in the cage Jack had waiting.

“I’ve brought food.”

Will almost physically jumped at the sudden change of Jack’s mood. He had been brooding, dark and slightly scary, now he was playful, teasing yet still slightly scary.

“What?”

Will wanted to smack himself for his response.

“Food,” Jack smiled, “the stuff that goes so well with rum.”

“I know what food is Jack,”

“Good, let me feed you.”
