Three
When Hailey woke up, she was in the woods, flat on her back in a pile of leaves. Everything hurt. She must have been thrown out of the van, somehow. The cut Jason had given her had opened up again. Hailey pressed her hand to her side and tried to stand. Her leg gave out and she fell to the ground again, her head glancing a rock. A twig broke a few feet away and she froze. Jason stood over her. He stepped forward and closed a large fist in her hair. He began to drag her behind him. A twig jammed at her leg and rocks scraped her fist. It took Hailey a while to find her voice.
"No, please don't," she moaned, her voice rattling. He twisted her hair around, tearing all he held out. Hailey dropped to the ground and tried to crawl away, but he grabbed her again and resumed dragging her to the cabin. By the time they reached the cabin, Hailey had stopped begging, stopped trying to grab something, just stopped fighting. When Linderman rushed at Jason with that pole, Jason threw Hailey aside. She hit the wall hard and blacked out from the pain.
When she woke up, the others were gone and Freddy was there, facing off with Jason. Hailey could barely stand. Her howl of pain made Freddy turn to her and grin.
"Jailbait," he crooned. "My favorite."
"Don't you fucking touch me." Hailey's mouth had filled with blood and she spat it out.
"You sure about that?" Freddy made a very rude gesture with his tongue and fingers. That seemed to anger Jason and he grabbed Freddy by the neck and threw him out the last intact window, shattering the glass into dust. He then turned to Hailey, who felt fear rush through her again.
"Please don't hurt me, please," she begged him. Jason moved towards her and stood right in front of her. He stroked her bloody hair and pushed it behind her ear so he could whisper one word to her.
"Pretty."
A chill ran up Hailey's spine and she backed away. No one had ever said she was pretty before. And it scared her that Jason thought so. She didn't know how bad she looked, but it must be awful. Jason turned to leave so he could finish off Freddy. Hailey limped out of the cabin and tried to head away from the chaos. But she could barely see. She began to cry in frustration and banged her fist against the cabin. Her legs sunk into the muck and she fell to her knees into the soft mud. The pain began to lift and Hailey realized something.
She was dying.
I'm so sorry Mama, she thought as her eyes closed.

Seven years later
"This is a bad idea."
"Shut up. This whole damn thing is your fault Clay. You're the one who was so gung-ho about healing, remember?"
"Halo, Clay, stop fighting!"
"Tell him so stop undermining the therapeutic process."
"Will everyone shut up? I have a fucking headache!"
The group in the van was hot and cranky. They were Halo Rose, Clay and Whitney Miller, Alice Hardy, and Tommy Jarvis. Their shrink, Rowan Lantz, was driving the van. The five were Jason survivors. The trip to Crystal Lake was supposed to be healing. Their encounters with Jason had left some of them angry and some of them crazy. Halo had been the only one to actually die. When she had been found lying by the lake seven years before, she had died twice on the way to the hospital. Her injuries had been severe: four broken ribs, a concussion, a broken leg, a fractured wrist, a lot of cuts and bruises, a stab wound and even nerve damage to her left leg. It took her years to get rid of the limp.
Will and Lori, who had left her for dead, were now dead themselves. Whitney had seen their bodies in the cabin where she had been held prisoner. Halo didn't care. They had left her at the lake to die. Afterwards, they had tried to say sorry, but Halo had refused to accept their half-assed apologies.
The group's goal was to move on.
Clay wanted Whitney to be strong again, not a whimpering mess.
Tommy had been in out of hospitals ever since childhood because of what Jason had done to him.
Alice just wanted to be sure Jason was dead.
Halo was going to finish what she started.
And Dr. Lantz was their baby-sitter.
What a group they were.
