AN: It's nice to see that people seem to like my story. So here is the next chapter for your consumption. ^_^

“What are they doing?” asked one of the warriors at Winuk's side as they lay on the ridge above the Sky People's camp. That's what they called them as their Toruk seemed to appear in the sky before landing near the camp.

“Building up their camp” Winuk said.

“Do you think they've spotted us?” asked a young warrior who'd just earned his bow a short time ago.

“Doubtful” Winuk said. “They would have sent someone out to run us off or something if they had.”

“Do you think they'll send people looking for the village?” asked the first warrior.

“If they know their camp is near our village, I'm sure they will, whatever their intent may be.”

Winuk scowled as he turned his attention fully on the Sky People's camp as a trio of Na'vi walked out of the central building. Two were dressed like the Sky People, much of their skin covered in cloth, but the one in the middle wasn't. She wore a loincloth and breast band only slightly bigger than those of the People.

“When did they get here?” asked the young warrior. “I didn't see any of the People enter the Sky People's camp.”

Winuk was silent as he studied the trio. “They are the Dreamwalkers Tsahìk mentioned” he said. His eyes following the female who spoke to the other two Dreamwalkers before walking out of the camp by herself armed with a knife and a bow.

“You two stay here. Keep everyone in line” Jessi said. “Just because I'm not here doesn't mean things can fall to chaos. I want to speak to the clan by myself, since we finally got the system up, and I think they'll be more accepting of one of us.”

“Why not let me or Randy go?” Cody asked.

Jessi looked them both over, covered head to foot like any soldier running around the camp. “They'll know you for outsiders at first sight. Besides, Randy sounds like a child when he speaks Na'vi and you have managed to learn a second language to speak in which you stick your foot in your mouth five seconds into the conversation.”

Cody stuck his tongue out at Jessi.

“Besides, I might not know all the Na'vi customs, but I've learned enough about them. These RDA idiots try to treat them like the white Europeans treated the Native Americans. Hence why I pushed for things to be the way they are.”

“Fine but if you aren't back in two days, we are sending a full platoon after you, peace be damned, cause you're the best leader for this place with everything you know” Randy said.

Jessi slung her bow, made from some dead fall near the base, across her back and headed for the forest. She didn't care how many people stared at her “skimpy” attire as they saw it. Raised by her grandfather, a Sioux elder, she learned that it was just fine to run around in little more that shorts and a sports bra, especially in the heat of summer. And here it felt as warm as Brazil in the middle of the summer with a pending monsoon on the horizon.

Thus she wore loincloth and sports bra that she'd insisted be made for her, instead of the hot clinging clothes everyone else said they had to have just to feel like they weren't exposing themselves.

Jessi couldn't help but grin as she reached the shadows of the trees. It was so much better than the park her grandfather had taken her to as a child. With barely a pause, Jessi broke into a run. She'd spent a week running around the base barefoot and while it was nothing like the forest floor, it still made the transition easier.

With eyes that had been trained from an early age to watch the ground even as she kept her eyes ahead, Jessi made it half a click into the forest before she paused to catch her breath.

“Why are you here?” asked a deep male voice behind her in Na'vi.

“For peace” Jessi said without moving.

“You are a dreamwalker, yes?” asked a slightly younger voice.

“Yes” Jessi said.

“You speak well for one who is not one of the People” the same voice said.

Jessi looked up to see a young Na'vi male standing before her.

“Oel Ngati Kame” she said, raising her hand to make the accompanying hand sign to go with the Na'vi greeting. (I See you)

The young Na'vi blinked at her and looked over her right shoulder. “Oel Ngati Kame” he finally returned. “I am called Tsu'ot.”

“I am called Jessi” she said. “And the two behind me would be?”

“Lìmuk” said the deep voice.

“Winuk” said the younger. “And this is a matter for the clan leader and the matriarch. We go to Hometree so they can see you and decide what will be done.”

Jessi followed as they took off at a run, three Palulukan shadowing them.

**********

Winuk had been unsure what to do when the dreamwalker had entered the forest. She was so much like one of the people that had he not been watching her, he was quite certain he would have lost her, that was how quick and silent she was in the forest. That was why he decided that he would take her to Hometree for Naktang and Sìlng to deal with.

They would better know how to deal with these strangers be it either in peace or war. It was the clan leader's decision that would take them down either road. And it would be their choice that would make or break the clan in these uncertain times.

AN: Seeing as I only have part of the next chapter written, it'll be a day or two until I post the next chapter, depending on what my muse gives me to work with. And thus we enter the times of slower posting. And review cookies feed my muse. ^_^
