Starting Over

CHAPTER 30: IT'S OVER

Two days later in Glorias' house, Eva finally explains to her mother, the events of the previous night. Somehow, deep in Eva's heart she knew Blanca was gone....for good. Erica and her mother were safe, she asks her mother to please sell the house and move with her to California, her mother tells her maybe but no promises. Eva has to go back and get Oscar out of jail. Dom acquired tickets back to California that night.

**********************8:00pm****************

Erica runs to her big sister and gives her a kiss and a hug.

"You behave for mom, got it?" Eva's eyes are tearing.

"I will, nice to meet you Dom" Erica gives Dom a kiss on the cheek. Gloria turns to Dom and cups his face with her hands.

"God bless you, your welcome in my home anytime"

"Thank you Gloria" Dom smiles, with that she kisses him on the cheek and turns to Eva.

"Take care ofrselrself. And don't let that one go" she points to Dom. Eva blushes and hugs her mom "I don't intend to"

They leave for the airport and arrive in California two hours later. The cab pulls up in front of the Toretto residence and Eva sighs looking inside, it seems like so much has changed, she felt like she has changed. She knows explaining to her family what happened is going to be hard but they had a right to know. Not only that but how in the world was she going to get her bother out of that hell. "Ready?" Dom asks holding her hand. "Yup" she opens the door and walks up the stairs with her left arm in a sling, Dom opens the doors and steps back for her to enter, she looks up and gasps. Mia and Mini are standing there with huge smiles on their faces, each have an arm wrapped around Oscar.

"Surprise girl!" they both yell out. "Hey baby girl" Oscar's voice is low and apologetic. Eva walks up to him slowly and wraps her right arm around him, he lowers him self and grabs her by the waist.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" his voice cracking. "No need to apologize big brother", the others walk in from the back and greet Eva and Dom.

"How did you get out?" Eva turns back to Oscar, but Brian takes the liberty to answer her "Blancas partner, Reynaldo, he survived and confessed, now the search is on for her, they already arrested all her crew members." Eva knows they will never catch her, Blanca would rather die than go to jail. Of course she says nothing and simply nods.

"Damn girl, you pretty banged up there" Letty walks over to Eva, "I'll be alright. Thank you, for....you know" Eva's eyes go to Dom. "Don't mention it, really. I have a rep to keep" Letty tries to keep a serious face but cracks a smile.

"Well now you have to think about the tattoo you gonna get to cover that bullet hole" Lisa adds, with a smirk.

"I got an idea!" Dom hollers from across the room. "Oh yeah, and what's that?" Eva scoffs, Dom walks up to her and puts his arm around her, being careful not to hurt her. "How about you get a tattoo that says 'Dom's Woman', yeah I like the sound of that" they all start to laugh. "What? Why not?" he frowns, "Baby!" Eva says with a 'Come on' voice.

That night Mia made dinner as usual, she cooked Pasta in sauce and garlic bread with salad. They are sitting at the table. Eva looks over to Mia who gives her a look like she is about to say something. Mia stands up holding Brian's hand.

"Guys I have an announcement to make. Brian and I are getting married!" all jaws drop, slowly turning into smiles.

"Oh my God!, Congratulations" the girls get up and give Mia and Brian a hug, as the guys shake Brian's hand and kiss Mia's cheek. Dom and Eva are the last. Eva slowly gets up and is almost tearing from happiness, Mia is her best friend and she deserves this more than anyone. Dom moves to Mia "Congrats little sister......your not......you know" Mia begins to laugh "No, I'm not prego Dom, me and Brian agreed no kids yet" Dom looks relieved and embraces Brian. "Take care of my little sister,.....Oh and nothings changed, you brake her heart I'll brake your neck" Dom has a smirk on his face. "Never happen" Brian responds with a smile. They resume dinner and are talking about the wedding date etc. Dom is still standing as the phone rings, he reaches next to him and answers it.

"Yeah" he growls over the phone, he hates when his dinner is interrupted.

"Dom? It's Erica"

"Hey, how are you, you wanna speak to Eva?" Dom looks over to Eva who is giggling with Mia.

"Actually I have some news and I don't want to upset Eve, but the police called here this morning and.....well they found Blanca's body" she pauses waiting for him to respond.

"Where? I mean what happened?" Dom turns away from the table so the conversation is private.

"After that night, Blanca went back to her old apartment building were her father lived and she shot him in the head and then turned the gun on herself." Erica was crying, Dom hears it in her voice, he didn't know if to be relieved or disappointed at the news, he really wanted to be the one to put her out of her misery.

"Anyway that's why I called, tell Eve I said hi"

"Sure I will, take care" she hangs up and Dom looks over to Eva who looks back to him. His expression is serious as he just stares, everyone else is too involved in their own conversation to even notice. Dom sighs and whispers, so that she can read his lips "It's Over" Eva looks at him in disbelief, she closes hyes yes in and puts her hands up to her face, she stands up and walks over to him. "She's dead isn't she?" she knew either the police had killed her in a stand off or she had taken her own life, either way it hadn't been pretty. "Yeah, she's dead" he holds her in his arms, she's been through so much lately and was glad he had been there for her. Dom lifts her head up and gives her a soft kiss as to tell her it's OK.

"I'm tired, I wanna take a shower, can you take me home so I can get some clothes" Eva says as the room stays quiet and Mini is heard clearing her throat.
Eva looks around wondering why the sudden silence, everyone seems to be holding in their laughs. Eva looks back at Dom with narrowed eyes.

"Dom! what's going on?" she backs away, his face is holding in a smile also.

"Before you left for Jersey I asked you to move in with me and what did you tell me?" he leans against the wall.

"I said, before I considered it there were some things you needed to know about me" she's still doesn't understand.

"Well now I know, right, So move in with me" he sure was persistent and good at it. Eva laughs and gives him a defeated look. After all she's at his house more than her own, she didn't know why she paid rent for an apartment that was always empty anyway. All eyes were on them, eagerly waiting for Eva's response.

"Of course" her lips widen and moves in for a kiss. She had to admit it's something she wants also.

"In that case, you are home" Dom calmly says as Mini busts out laughing. Eva shoots her a look. "Sorry" Mini looks back down at the table.

"I'm home? Since when?" her right hand on her hip.

"OK, so I took the liberty to move your stuff, oh should I saw WE took the liberty to move your stuff already here" Dom smiles and looks at everyone, now they look like they are ignoring him "Oh so I'm on my own now huh?" everybody grumbles and keep eating. Eva squints her eyes at him and grinds her teeth, slowly letting a smile on her face again.

"You're sneaky" she says, Dom grabs her and whispers in her ear "I told you, your not the only one filled with surprises"
