Confrontation

Kyra started to go with her, wanting to help, but Kylie was firm. “You need to help find the kids that went into the woods. If they get back to the village, then I’ll find them, if not, well, I am sure that Vaako and you can find them easily.”

With a resigned sigh, Kyra went to tell Vaako, while Kylie walked into the woods.

About halfway back to the village, she heard a snuffling and a twig snap behind her, smiling when she saw it was Misty that had caused the noises.

“Glad to see you’re all right girl. Hope you got a mouthful of one of them too.” Misty looked up at her, and almost seemed to grin, as if she had known exactly what had been said to her.

She shrugged, patting Misty on the head, and headed for the former hangar. She pushed and pulled, moving chunks of rubble, blood and sweat dripping down her back, until she had freed her friend’s body. Finding a blanket, she wrapped the body gently, carrying it to the edge of the woods.

She knelt, starting to dig, surprised when she saw clawed paws digging alongside hers. With the animal’s help, she had the hole dug faster then she thought she would.

Gently she lay Sam’s body in the hole and covered her. When her job was done, she covered the grave in stones, putting a makeshift marker at the head.

Slowly she made her way back to the ship, muscles screaming from the work she had done. She took a long hot shower and collapsed into the bed.

“What the hell do you want?” She spoke before opening her eyes. She had woken the moment he had stepped into the room.

She was still angry with him, both over what had happened on the slave ship, as well as his whole way of treating her lately.

When he didn’t say anything, she opened her eyes and stood. She made no move to cover herself, though she had fallen into bed without getting dressed.

“Don’t like being called a coward did you? Tough.”

She glared at him as she spoke. “I have no intention of leaving, but I sure as hell won’t let you keep treating me like this either. I’ve had the crap beat out of me, more then once, been threatened, and have nearly died, and am still here.”

She took a deep breath and calmed herself. “I enjoy the fight, it’s in my blood. Hell, I’ll even admit I enjoyed killing those two today.”

She looked up at him, eyes searching his silver orbs for some sign of something there. “Dammit Riddick, you decide what happens now, I’m leaving it in your hands. I’m not going to leave you easily, but I’ll be damned if I sit there and let you keep treating me like this. I love you but I am not going to wait forever.”

Letting him take in what she had said to him, she lay back on her bed, clasping her hands together on her stomach. She closed her eyes letting her breathing slow more. Any sign of anger, hurt, or anything else she might have been feeling was gone, her face and body were impassive masks.
